Jackpot: Brown raised a million dollars a day every day this week

posted at 6:00 pm on January 14, 2010 by Allahpundit

Yeah. Not just on Monday when that million-dollar moneybomb detonated. Every damned day this week.

The first ever moneycarpetbomb?

Knowledgeable sources in Massachusetts tell The Daily Caller that Republican candidate for Senate, Scott Brown, has raised at least $1 million dollars every day this week, most of it online.

Although Brown’s campaign touted Monday’s money-bomb fundraiser that brought in $1.3 million dollars, the campaign declined to confirm totals for other days this week.

“I can’t comment on figures,” said spokesman Felix Browne.

Here’s the donation page in case you haven’t gotten some of this action yet. Whatever happens next week, MKH (as usual) and Kos (for once) are right: Brown’s online haul from grassroots conservatives is groundbreaking stuff for the GOP, and don’t think the base’s populist heroes — starting with our friend Mr. Rubio — aren’t keenly aware of it.

Below, via Ace, an amusing goof on Coakley’s moronic campaign ads from radio host Michael Graham. If you believe Geraghty’s sources, the sheer nastiness and stupidity of the attacks could also be helping Brown out. Exit question: How much of Brown’s haul is coming from “Reagan Democrats”? Ace raised the point on Twitter that while high Democratic turnout is, of course, bad, a fair number of those Democrats may be primed to cross over due to exhaustion from the same old same old Massachusetts crap after so many years. PPP’s poll claimed last weekend claimed that Brown was pulling 17 percent of Dems compared to just six percent of Republicans breaking for Coakley. How many of those 17 percent are kicking in with cash?

As mushy as they are, I just don’t think they’re that suicidal.

I hear you, I just think it’s more realistic to think that Showe and Collins wouldn’t literally throw their jobs away if Scott Brown wins in Massachusetts. The weird Connecticut thing notwithstanding, don’t you think a Brown win is literally cataclysmic? If the People’s seat occupied by Ted Kennedy in Mass isn’t safe Blue, is anything?

The Maine twins have to know this.

BigWyo on January 14, 2010 at 7:29 PM

That certainly could happen, I’m not discounting anything with this runaway fraud train of a Congress we have now. I guess I’m just still optimistic that in the event of a Brown win, every questionable Republican in the Senate will fall back in line and vote ‘no’ on cloture, if for no other reason than that they like their jobs.

If you look at the polls…her base is basically liberal Democrats, she doesn’t need Republicans to win a re-election.

terryannonline on January 14, 2010 at 7:36 PM

The Maine twins have to know this.

russcote on January 14, 2010 at 7:25 PM

They like to be bipartisan when it will make them look good. Snowe is already on record (and Collins seems to follow her lead) as objecting to the backroom deals. They are probably smart enough to see this as a loser they don’t want to be associated with.

When they voted for Porkulus, Obowma was new and riding high in the polls, and was going to save or create millions of jobs….

Now they know differently.

And they may see now that running against Obama is the way back to the majority by 2012. If there’s one thing any senator likes, it’s being in the majority and getting to be chair of a committee.

That is definitely the case with me. The last one from Steele about listening I returned it to him explaining what he did not understand is we mostly meant the GOP needs to listen. I told him where all my contributions had gone already, where future ones were going to go, and most definitely where NONE would go. They can HELP US or FIGHT US but they do not get a free ticket to ride this out. “How was it said, you are either with us or against us.”

Though I’m pleased to see this incredible fund-raising, I think that conservatives are learning A LOT from the many Democrats who have joined this fight. I have found that Democrats who really understand how to use the proper tools of a successful grassroots movement are excited to share this knowledge to save this fine country and stand alongside Republicans, Libertarians and Independents.

It’s hard core big union country here. I bet every one of those 6% are all union workers just following orders. The big unions own the dems on beacon hill and basically call the shots in Mass.

Remember, 51% of voters are un-enrolled (no party affilation) in Mass. Last poll I saw, they were breaking for Brown at 72%
