PPP poll tomorrow: Reid’s all but finished
posted at 4:45 pm on January 13, 2010 by Allahpundit
Mind you, this is a guy who pulled 61 percent of the vote six years ago. Now, with the anchor of ObamaCare tied around both ankles, PPP’s giving him the last rites fully nine months out from election day.
Don’t say The One never did anything for you.
Reid gets only 52% of the black vote against Sue Lowden and Danny Tarkanian in the poll, a weak standing for a Democrat to be sure, and worse than the 61% Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman gets in the survey. With Republicans and independents in the state pretty universally lined up against him Reid’s margin for error with his base voters is very low and that 52% figure is not going to get the job done. Whether that standing is a short term reaction to the ‘negro’ revelation that will subside or a long term problem that will plague Reid remains to be seen.
This much seems clear: Reid’s standing for reelection was perilous a week ago and now it looks even worse. Even an error free 2010 might not be enough for him to keep his seat, and any further mistakes will reduce his chances of winning to about nil. Look for the numbers tomorrow on whether Dems would be better off with someone else.
What are the odds that a guy given to rambling about “negro dialects” in front of reporters will make any more mistakes before November? Incidentally, Rasmussen also shows him sinking further below the waves today thanks to the revelations in “Game Change,” which leaves the Dems with a nasty dilemma: How much worse do things have to get before the party establishment starts leaning on him to retire? That’s an easy call in the case of someone like Dodd but the moral dimension is tougher with Reid. He is, to some extent, a martyr to their dream of universal health care. They told him something simply had to pass, so he begged, bullied, and bought his way to 60 votes — and is staring at early retirement for his trouble. No matter how obvious it is that he should go, I can’t believe The One will throw him under the bus after all the abuse he’s taken from the left and right to make their signature domestic policy boondoggle happen. Prediction: He’s in it to the bitter end and will get Obama’s full support, unless his son hits him with the ultimate guilt trip.

Reid isn’t just a senator, he’s the senate majority leader which makes the downfall even more important.
I’m wondering if any of those politicos who made a backroom deal are thinking that it might be a good time to back away because if Reid goes he might take people with him, or because his replacement might not be of the same mind in that respect.

Track.. Reid is someone to keep an eye on yet. 9 months can be a long time and can make many a person miserable.
This guy is going to tear up something before he is moved off the scope. And take his son out politically as well. That shows a lot right there.
upinak on January 13, 2010 at 5:03 PM
Yeah, he is gone as long as we have the right to vote.
If Obama can grant voting rights to illegal aliens and stuff the ballot boxes, we are toast.
The good news is Chris Dodd is retiring. He would not have done this if cheating at the ballot box could reverse the certain loss.
Yippee! We still have the right to vote! (for now)

Evidently Allah hasn’t looked under that bus to see who’s already there. If Barry can throw Grandma under, Harry will be no problem. In Barry’s mind, Reid is a ‘failure’. The bill was supposed to be passed last summer.

A couple of points.
1) Ensign was a two term congressman from Las Vegas and he almost beat a very popular Reid.
2) Reid wasn’t then what he is now…..a radical Marxist selling Nevadan values down the pike.
Reid is done. He will not get reelected.

Exactly – Schumer is a much more talented slimeball. If he replaces Reid that’s not necessarily good news at all.
In the short term I’d rather see Reid hang in there and fail to get Obamacare over the finish line. Then he will certainly be replaced, but at least we’ll have dodged a really big cannonball.

True, but a loose-cannon Reid could also drag down Dims who are up for relection and are still in a close race. Even though it seems like he’s going to lose his Senate seat, he still has to make sure that his actions don’t cost other Dims their seats. It’s a scenario that almost makes me want to root for him to go loose-cannon…
