It’s come to this: Scott Brown’s a “far-right tea-bagger,” says Chuck Schumer
posted at 5:53 pm on January 13, 2010 by Allahpundit
“Tea-bagger.” Now being used by U.S. Senators. Not even in private conservation either, a la Reid or Chuckles himself when he dropped the word “bitch” on a flight attendant a few weeks ago.
This comes from … a fundraising e-mail.
I got the message below from Ted Kennedy’s widow, Vicki, and I wanted to make sure you saw it.
Martha Coakley is running to fill the rest of Ted Kennedy’s term, and her opponent is a far-right tea-bagger Republican.
It would be bad enough to lose this seat — and Democrats’ sixtieth vote in the Senate — right before the final health care reform vote. But it would be even worse for the decisive “no” vote to come from Ted Kennedy’s old seat.
Please note: This is the same guy who spent weeks wetting his pants during his first Senate run when Al D’Amato called him a “putzhead” in a private meeting. I know Durbin’s probably next in line for majority leader when, not if, Nevada finally takes care of Reid, but Schumer’s really his heir apparent. Same nastiness, same cynicism, same snide, two-bit demagoguery. The difference is that Reid apologized for the “negro” comment whereas this will be defended with “who, me?” little-boy fake innocence about the double meaning of the word.
Bill Kristol’s spot on: “The Democratic campaign now consists to a remarkable degree simply of screaming that Brown equals Bush/Republican/right-wing.” Via Weasel Zippers, below you’ll find the latest manifestation of that strategy, such as it is. We all saw it coming and now it’s here. Exit question: At just $77.89 per donation, there sure are a lot of “teabaggers” out there, huh?

They are running against everyone but Scott Brown. Next you’ll see them linking Scott Brown to Calvin Coolidge.

And Schumers a two bit dork, who has the civility of a bore.
How’s that elitism working out for ya Chuckie?

If we had a media, some journ-o-list would ask Schumer why he is using such a slur against Brown or even just against the average people who attend tea parties.
myrenovations on January 13, 2010 at 5:58 PM
Oh, and by the way Chuckie……Teddy occupied the seat, but it’s the PEOPLE’s seat. Got it?
capejasmine on January 13, 2010 at 5:58 PM
Certainly a full-court press on the part of the Dems on this one, in the final minutes.
I thought this was Ted Kennedy’s seat, a safe bet for the Dems?
coldwarrior on January 13, 2010 at 5:59 PM
Yeah, I hear “far right” and “extreme right” a lot from the Dems. What exactly is a “far right” or “extreme right” position? And how is Sarah Palin “extreme right”? I mean, really now.

It’s not Ted Kennedy’s seat . . .it’s the people’s seat!
Emperor Norton on January 13, 2010 at 5:59 PM
Unlike what Schumer would do, Durbin admitted during a radio interview in Chicago that, point blank, “Ben Nelson was bought off.” I give him a fraction of point for at least calling a spade a spade.

Used to be that MSNBC was the cable channel for Democrats. Now it’s the party serving MSNBC.
Crazy.

Meanwhile…
Martha Coakley is so politically astute, she manages to insult Fenway fans, voters, AND hockey enthusiasts all in the same quote:

UnderstandingisPower on January 13, 2010 at 6:03 PM
A great ad would be Brown looking right into the camera and saying, “Folks, if you oppose the Obama administration’s out-of-control spending, the democrats’ plans to nationalize health care, and you want a federal government that takes terrorist threats seriously, then the democrat party thinks you’re a ‘teabagger.’ President Obama has called you a teabagger. Senate leader Harry Reid has called you a teabagger. Chuck Schumer has called you a teabagger. Nancy Pelosi has called you a teabagger. Let me tell you precisely what ‘teabagger’ means, as they use it, so you’ll fully understand what your president and the democrat party thinks of you…”

“Tea-Bagger” is a homophobic slur. It implies that all opponents of Obama’s policies are no better than the sodomites from Deliverance.
I’m sorry Sen. Schumer hates gay people.

And you know what could take down Durbin? A fish, more specifically an Asian Carp.
Right now many of the Great Lake states are asking SCOTUS to force Illinois to close the lock on the Chicago River. Durbin is fighting it. A 7 Billion a year industry- you think he will stay in power if that fish is found in Lake Michigan? Oh, they found Asian Carp DNA 6miles (just 6 miles) from the entrance to the Lake. Sleep on that, Mr Durbin.

The Dems need a bogeyman. First Bush, then Palin. It doesn’t matter who and what they are. The Dems are a relentless attack machine. When will our side understand it?
promachus on January 13, 2010 at 6:06 PM
I’m amazed, considering how many real-life teabaggers are Schumer’s constituents, that this balding, suit-wearing fart would even bring up the topic. In fact, he has lunch with one in Washington every now and then: Barney Frank.
bradley11 on January 13, 2010 at 6:06 PM
Oh the civility! The Schumer blimp assploded! Bright side? Comments like that are only going to fire up the Tea Partiers to donate to and vote for Scott Brown, but not especially inspire anyone else to vote for CoaKKKley.

I’ve had ample opportunity to email my Congressional representative on the same subject… thanks, Sen. Schumer! Or do you prefer to be known as a Dick?
