Video: Dems paying union workers to hold signs for Coakley?

posted at 5:56 pm on January 12, 2010 by Allahpundit

The question mark’s there in an abundance of caution because there’s always a chance with short clips that some key context has been bowdlerized, but it’s hard to see how this one isn’t exactly what it looks like. Bonus points here for the fact that our hero admits he’s actually voting for Brown. If only he were SEIU, this would have been pure, 24-karat gold.

Hey, remember when Reid and Pelosi accused townhall protesters of astroturfing? Good times.

The SEIU and Acorn will be doing a lot more next week than holding signs.

The more money they waste here, the less will be available for Nov.

The Bush Cheney rethuglicans have really got desperate. Now they’re trying to get you to believe that blue collar union members would support their tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% of Americans. Try harder, we’re not sold.

Scott was shaking hands in the freezing cold outside of Gillette Stadium for the Ravens-Pats game. And it was seriously cold out there. While there, he got the endorsement of some former Pats.

Geraghty, NRO.

I think Brown’s standing in the cold here will get a lot more votes than some union astroturfers.

Wethal on January 12, 2010 at 6:07 PM

And I thought this sort of thing happened only in “developing” countries.

this has got to be a big *facepalm* moment for some union dudes up there. There’s has got to be some “WTF are we doin’?” meetings going on amongst those guys…

I mean, look, this week Obama has the unions under the bus, what do these guys have to lose? Choose a tax cut over a huge tax increase? Tschaa–that’s easy!

Get it on Beantown.

MikeA on January 12, 2010 at 6:10 PM

Democratic politicians don’t actually live by the rules they impose on others. That would go against every fiber of their tyrranical ideologies.

Brett Baier just teased Coakley misspelling screw-up. It’ll probably be a feature in his Political Grapevine.

Gotta love Democratic incompetence. Coakley’s campaign staff must consist of public school students.

BuckeyeSam on January 12, 2010 at 6:12 PM

I know this was posted elsewhaere first so the cat is out of the bag, but it’s kind of a dick move showing this. This guy is f*cked, and seeing the heat he takes is going to make other union members think twice about dissenting from the party line, or at least admitting it.

Any man who would vote for the communist isn’t a man. At least this guy is honest. I’d carry a sign for $50 and vote for Brown too. To quote the great Don Corleone…”Women can afford to be careless…men can’t”.

The Fox panel is killing Coakley for her DC fundraiser.

BuckeyeSam on January 12, 2010 at 6:44 PM

Ted Kennedy had the benefit of being the old 800-pound gorilla in Congress who could pull strings all over the place. At least he brought that to the table for his state. Coakley has no such special talents.

Holger on January 12, 2010 at 6:06 PM

True; at the “street level” a lot of union guys are staunchly conservative. They see the way things are. Toss in the rape of their benefits packages, and you have a recipe for revolt against the union leaders wishes.

massrighty on January 12, 2010 at 6:59 PM

TXMomof3 on January 12, 2010 at 7:07 PM

Cool vid — Since this was supposed to be a no-cost walk in the park … This sounds really good. Take the fight to the enemy in the strong states, then they deplete their resources defending … Removes their offense capability.

tarpon on January 12, 2010 at 7:11 PM

this video is going to have some strategic effects. All those other union fellas are going to think, “hell, Scott Brown is a cool guy.”

They’ll pull a lever for him. They won’t answer poll questions for him, but they’ll pull a lever for him.

but the croakley woman? yeesh.

ted c on January 12, 2010 at 7:13 PM

Whilst it is not surprising that the Dems paid the union men $50 per person to hold the signs, it does not mean that they will vote for Coakley. People on the ground have reported that some of those men will be voting for Brown, but they needed the money…..
