Amazing: Scott Brown about to raise $1 million for the day; Update: Done!

posted at 9:34 pm on January 11, 2010 by Allahpundit

His site’s not loading at the moment, but as of 9:20 ET he was at $984,000 and change. It’s a done deal; he’s about to double his targeted fundraising amount for this push. Mind-blowing.

While we wait for the official numbers, here’s a short but tasty snippet from tonight’s debate with Coakley followed by what Ben Smith describes as a “kitchen sink” attack ad from her camp. The photo of Bush and Cheney is, needless to say, the centerpiece — apparently Coakley brought up Bush at the debate too — but the suggestion that Brown is somehow pro-rape is a nice touch, I thought. Exit question: They’re getting nervous, aren’t they?

Update: He did it.

I hope Brown wins. It would cause utter havoc in the Democrat camp. The President would have to go for a more centrist agenda just because of a bare democrat win.

I want to hear teddy screaming from his grave when Obamacare is stopped by his seat…karma can be sweet!

The celebration is premature, guys.

Once he wins, we can all get drunk all we want. All right?

newton on January 12, 2010 at 12:41 AM

I think some celebratory drinks are called for tonight. If it does not culminate in a win for Brown, I think 1.3 mil is akin to the “shot heard round the world”. If it is not then we may as well get drunk now and stay that way. By the way, wife opened wine tonight so I am on the Red but would rather the time tested Crown Royal and water.

bluemarlin on January 12, 2010 at 12:53 AM

Scott Brown’s national political career just begun tonight. Mark my words.

newton on January 12, 2010 at 12:07 AM

I like this guy.
Sharp and quick on his feet.

He better watch out because the democrats might just take their people out of Palin’s dumpsters and start getting into his trash cans.

Watching this really energizes me for 2010 and 2012.

Get out the vote? IDK we don’t need it. The Base is motivated and a motivated base votes. It’d be better spent in hard hitting ads to depress Democrat turn out and win over more Independents.

Heck, the money bomb makes me wish I lived in MA to vote for this guy and I am in a solid Republican area of ET (been so since the Civil War and will remain so!). And that is with the exorbitant taxation, spending, socialism and those damn yanks!

I am nearing drunk, so the Brain-mouth filter is off.

Democrats seem to have this thing about killing political stars before they’re ever born. They’re always in the lookout for threats to their power. Every person who could be a threat has to be snuffed out before they do any damage.

I totally agree also–this is what the base needs–the excitement of–(though I hate the word)–”hope”…and there is the smell of victory.
Even if he doesn’t win, it will have been worth it. It will remind others of what our nation was founded on–a band of common people, sometimes fighting with only farm implements against a more powerful enemy…

lovingmyUSA on January 12, 2010 at 1:18 AM

Yes maam, like I keep saying, we have to fight every fight, everyday no matter the chances. As you stated earlier, even if we have inferior weapons the spirit is what must pull us through. I truly believe that spirit is still out there it has just gotten harder to dredge back up. Luckily for us the Death to America Healthcare Bill has been a great catalyst. Whether it be personal liberties, not enough of entitlement, personal greed or survival, this bill is beginning to get everyone involved and issues brought to the public forum. There is no better disinfectant than daylight right now.

NightmareOnKStreet on January 12, 2010 at 1:39 AM

We actually lived in the Corpus area for ten years before moving here fourteen months ago. It wasn’t the best time – I was six months pregnant when we made the move, and barely three months here when our little girl came out in a hurry.

I pray I’m wrong.

christene on January 12, 2010 at 1:58 AM

As much as I’d like to see him win, I think I’m a bit of an Eeyore on this one. Was just watching parts of his debate with Coakley from Jan 8th on youtube and she’s not the incompetent dolt I was imagining. She seemed to do fine with her double talk, making her look more fiscally conservative than I’m sure she is and she seemed confident with a good handle on issues (even though totally on the wrong side on them all). Brown repeated himself a lot and as much as I wanted to see him mop the floor with her, I didn’t happen – and with the amount that the general population base their votes on style and perceptions rather than voting records (which is the most idiotic thing and the reason we’re in the mess we’re in) – she did better than he (again, on style, not substance). And that Kennedy guy had a few good points but, like Ron Paul, was totally off base with National Security – he needs to drop out rather than leech votes away from Brown from people who throw away their vote on a guy who has no chance of winning.

Our only hope is that people are fed up enough with what’s going on on Capitol Hill…but folks, this is Massachusettes we’re talking about…
