Amazing: Scott Brown about to raise $1 million for the day; Update: Done!

posted at 9:34 pm on January 11, 2010 by Allahpundit

His site’s not loading at the moment, but as of 9:20 ET he was at $984,000 and change. It’s a done deal; he’s about to double his targeted fundraising amount for this push. Mind-blowing.

While we wait for the official numbers, here’s a short but tasty snippet from tonight’s debate with Coakley followed by what Ben Smith describes as a “kitchen sink” attack ad from her camp. The photo of Bush and Cheney is, needless to say, the centerpiece — apparently Coakley brought up Bush at the debate too — but the suggestion that Brown is somehow pro-rape is a nice touch, I thought. Exit question: They’re getting nervous, aren’t they?

Update: He did it.

what are you drinking?

katy on January 11, 2010 at 11:54 PM

Scottish whiskey–you? BTW–thanks for watching my back!

Can’t think of a better bunch of people I’d like to be drinking with tonight! SALUTE!!
Tomorrow we take up the fight–everyone must man the phones! We can give at least 2-4 hrs for the cause! (Especially since I have used my whiskey allowance…)

lovingmyUSA on January 12, 2010 at 12:05 AM

Cool! I’m glad he is kickin’ butt on the money. If he wins, it will be by far the best sign of hope for the entire nation I have had in a long time.

“It isn’t Ted Kennedy’s Seat, it is the PEOPLE’S Seat”

Huzzah! Slam! Dunk.

Even a sane democrat would have to love that.
(If there WERE any sane ones, anyway)

LegendHasIt on January 12, 2010 at 12:05 AM

Brown lost the election tonight:

“He said he supported the Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion.”

If GOP voters on MA are honestly going to hold this against him this go ’round, then we deserve to lose.

Priorities, people. Stopping Obamacare, c’mon now.

Sigh,

Odd? No, after all the “copenhagen miles” AF 1 has logged this year, the damn bird is probably down for hard maintenance and the crew finally gets a nap on the tarmac. Doubt Mr. “don’t call me honest Abe Lincoln” would think of takin’ a train up to Boston to give props to Martha “Wipe the gin off that seat Teddy gave me” Coakley would he????

time for Massachusetts to move on.

ted c on January 12, 2010 at 12:07 AM

I just checked that link to Boston.com. (Thanks to whoever had it.)

Even the people of MA are realizing that Coakley is, in a word, clueless. “There are no more terrorists in Afghanistan.” Not even Whiskey Teddy was that out of that league!

And no ACORN thievery or SEIU thuggery can mask that obvious fact. The ads against her write themselves just with that phrase – exactly as it sank Gerald Ford before Jimmy Carter in 1976.

Scott Brown’s national political career just begun tonight. Mark my words.

straight to the bottom!!

More details to follow,as the news comes in!(Snark).

The second ad is, unfortunately, reminiscent of Elizabeth’s Dole pathetic last ditch ads here in NC, as her seat was being taken by a worthless twit.
All she could do is mount a horrible ad stating that her opponent was a worshiper of Satan…one of the most disgraceful exits by a politician you could imagine…and I was a huge Liz Dole fan.
Coakley reminds me of the desperation…

The comments from Boston.com reflect Brown’s victory during the debate. I like this one:

Scott Brown most definitely won this debate by a landslide. He was powerful on that stage, so totally in control. Even Joe Kennedy was good. As for Martha, well she floundered… major league. Oh God, please don’t let this woman represent us in Washington D.C. We need a VOICE… a real people’s voice. THAT IS SCOTT BROWN.

Don’t go trusting us too much now.

The RNC/Scott Brown, et al better have a vote monitoring plan in place to prevent the rampant voter fraud they are going to attempt. Coakley isn’t so cocky because she thinks she’s a great candidate. She’s cocky and lazy because she knows she’s been spotted x% in fraudulent votes and it’s up to the poll watchers to make the x as small as possible.

see it in historical context and it will all make sense.

I know Kos has been tweeting about this money bomb, but there’s not a peep about it on HuffPo. I don’t know if they’re just clueless, or in denial. There’s one columnist trying to drum up some money for Coakley, but he’s not very enthusiastic about it. He does say that a narrow win for Coakley would be disastrous for the Dems.

Every R in the US needs to watch his response to the Gergen Toad.

I’m sure it has been commented on in the 5 pages of comments, but the man should be elected just on that alone

I hope Brown wins. It would cause utter havoc in the Democrat camp. The President would have to go for a more centrist agenda just because of a bare democrat win.

I never said I don’t play with ropes…

I don’t Brown will lose because of a lack of turnout for his candidacy but because of Coakley able to get her people to the polls.
