Amazing: Scott Brown about to raise $1 million for the day; Update: Done!

posted at 9:34 pm on January 11, 2010 by Allahpundit

His site’s not loading at the moment, but as of 9:20 ET he was at $984,000 and change. It’s a done deal; he’s about to double his targeted fundraising amount for this push. Mind-blowing.

While we wait for the official numbers, here’s a short but tasty snippet from tonight’s debate with Coakley followed by what Ben Smith describes as a “kitchen sink” attack ad from her camp. The photo of Bush and Cheney is, needless to say, the centerpiece — apparently Coakley brought up Bush at the debate too — but the suggestion that Brown is somehow pro-rape is a nice touch, I thought. Exit question: They’re getting nervous, aren’t they?

Update: He did it.

Um, they voted for Teddy for how many years? Uninvolved go with the flow voters, have voted one way all their life and will continue. I am heartened by some on here that are from Mass. and are giving local accounts about the local feelings on the street, I hope that it hold and that enough get out to beat the cheating at teh booths.

bluemarlin on January 11, 2010 at 10:25 PM

and do you eeyore, discount the fact that those same people can get very stirred up when they are angry?

Since you have voting that is not compulsory then the voting population is constantly changing. This means that people who are not motivated will sit at home, and those who might not usually vote will be out there ready to vote.

This is what happened last June when the people of Iran went to vote. At the previous election they were not motivated to vote – the fix was in and Rafsanjani lost to Ahmanutjob at that election. However, last June they became motivated and they went out to vote… when the result was given and the person who really received the votes was not declared winner, then they went ape in the streets. The revolution in Iran is gaining momentum, it is not going away.

Well, Mass has a chance right now to count… and as explained by another poster here… the people suddenly see that their vote will count. There is motivation to vote.

This race is not over until the final poll. Only at that point in time will everyone know if Scott Brown will be able to make a difference by entering the Senate to represent the people of Massachusetts. I hope that he will be elected and that he will deal a deadly blow to the AbominableCare that has been dished up in both the Senate and the House of Reps. It needs to be defeated.

You really do not want what we have in Australia… and what we have is not as bad as in the UK.

mega dittos–I’ve fought too hard for too long for this country to let it fall to such faulty and weak as hell arguments that are being proposed right now. This statist liberal BS is so intellectually fallacious on so many levels that we have to fight it with everything, our rhetoric, our money, our votes and then bequeath our children/grandchildren with a country that is in better shape than when it was handed to us. That is our duty.

Do we find it odd that Obama is staying away from MA? If the internals supported the numbers reported by The Globe, wouldn’t Obama want to have a hand in the victory? It’s possible her internals look like PPP’s. Or somewhere closer to theirs, anyway. Obama can’t afford another loss attached to him. There is hope in them there hills. If only it rains, snows, sleets and hails on the 19th. Low turnout is the key to a Brown victory. At least according to people much smarter than I am.

Haven’t seen it tonight, but did bring it up yesterday: There is so much denegration of “the tea partiers” these days. Yet, seems that the fate of our nation is once again resting in Boston. Very, very fitting that the fight is coalescing in this city. I love it!I have given more than I can afford, and happily! We all… not just the folks in Mass…but all over the country, need to help get it done for Brown. This is the local fight that epitomizes our national struggle.
With tongue firmly implanted in cheek, I’d like to quote a famous orator:
“We are the ones we have been waiting for.”

Not so OT, actually, it makes me think of the Winston Churchill incident when a woman chastised him for ending a sentance with a preposition, to which he replied, “Madam, that is something up with which we we will not put!”

He’s a social moderate. He believes in pro-choice, is against partial birth abortion, and is against federal payments of abortions. All of this was known before if anyone looked his record up.

But most of all, he’s from Massachusetts. He’s as red as you’re going to get from that whacky state.

That’s not a game-changer. He’s not campaigning on it. Average Joes don’t turn out to protect the right to kill fetuses. ‘‘You can run against Bush-Cheney, but I’m Scott Brown,’’ Brown responded. ‘‘I live in Wrentham. I drive a truck.’’

and this right heahh, yes heahh, is the money quote. Bam.

Brown lost the election tonight:

“He said he supported the Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion.”

Only a Single Issue Voter who demands strict adherence can throw their hands up after Brown’s answer and say ‘Not Voting for Him’.

And there are multiple ways to end abortion, the Overturn and Make Illegal route has gained us what exactly?

Holger on January 12, 2010 at 12:01 AM

it’s looking like what goes around comes around. Will Brown follow Paul Revere’s ride from the Charles River out past Lexington? Will Coakley try to seize arms out at Concord? Will she try to march the lobster backs out to Lexington Greene?

see it in historical context and it will all make sense.

So what? He already has the support of pro-life groups who had full knowledge of this because he was against an abortion free-for-all (no partial birth/late term, parental notifications, etc)

DangerHighVoltage on January 12, 2010 at 12:03 AM

‘President Obama yesterday released a statement through his campaign apparatus urging his supporters in Massachusetts to get behind her, and former president Bill Clinton plans to stump for her in the Bay State on Friday.’

Good thing they didn’t switch “supporters in Massachusetts” and “Bill Clinton” in that sentence.

I know Kos has been tweeting about this money bomb, but there’s not a peep about it on HuffPo. I don’t know if they’re just clueless, or in denial. There’s one columnist trying to drum up some money for Coakley, but he’s not very enthusiastic about it. He does say that a narrow win for Coakley would be disastrous for the Dems.
