Amazing: Scott Brown about to raise $1 million for the day; Update: Done!

posted at 9:34 pm on January 11, 2010 by Allahpundit

His site’s not loading at the moment, but as of 9:20 ET he was at $984,000 and change. It’s a done deal; he’s about to double his targeted fundraising amount for this push. Mind-blowing.

While we wait for the official numbers, here’s a short but tasty snippet from tonight’s debate with Coakley followed by what Ben Smith describes as a “kitchen sink” attack ad from her camp. The photo of Bush and Cheney is, needless to say, the centerpiece — apparently Coakley brought up Bush at the debate too — but the suggestion that Brown is somehow pro-rape is a nice touch, I thought. Exit question: They’re getting nervous, aren’t they?

Update: He did it.

I saw part of the debate and Coakley brought up that he was against cervical screenings for women among other things. He shot that down fairly quickly.

Sorry, but Coakley will win. We’ve been through this with Hoffman. We’re talking NE, where it was a near-miracle that a more or less “moderate” like Christie was able to beat a corrupt Democrat like Corzine.

ddrintn on January 11, 2010 at 9:40 PM

I saw some of his debate earlier against Coakley and moderated by Gergin – he cleaned her clock. She kept talking about “Bush-Cheney policies” and it seemed profusely inadequate, and shallow.

I think it could now be his to loose.

This is going to feel almost as bad as when we all got our hopes up about Murtha possibly losing last year. That, combined with Franken and President Obama, made November 08 one of the crappiest months ever.

BadgerHawk on January 11, 2010 at 9:40 PM

The Coakley folks are doing exactly what PPP told them to do. Tie him to national Republicans.

Why is David Rodham Gergen moderating? Good lord.

I had to see what David Frum had to say about this guy (after seeing last night he is anti-Toomey and anti-Rubio). He has zilch, nada, zip, and the big headline on FrumForum is how he had dinner with John and Elizabeth Edwards and they sneered at each other. 3 or 4 of the 7 or so comments say “big whoop” and “shouldn’t you be talking about Trig or Levi?”

Oh, you guys.

Contrast with Scott Brown’s people, who wait in line for their turn to make calls because EVERY PHONE IS BEING USED from 9am to 9pm daily.

I tried this on the other thread and got zero response, even criticism. My view about Mass voters and HRC is that we may be getting it exactly wrong: they already have healthcare; why vote for Coakley and ensure paying for other states? Instead, they get to be greedy: vote Brown and you keep your state-mandated healthcare and your state budget intact. Unless I’m missing something, if I was a voter (Dem or otherwise) in Massachusetts the selfish (and cheaper) thing to do would be to vote Republican.
