Aw, come on. Is he kidding? Of all people, a showman like Limbaugh should know that this would have been the greatest thing ever simply for the storytelling afterwards. The furtive eye contact; the awkward pauses; the tense, clipped conversation, pregnant with political significance, about whether Rush was happy with the health care he was getting at the hospital. It would have been like that Pacino/DeNiro scene in “Heat” — albeit much, much less hammy.
Shamefully, the audio cuts off here before the funniest line is uttered. Read down to the end of Politico’s transcript for that.

It would’ve been like when Steffi Graf visited Monica Seles in the hospital after a Graf fan stabbed Seles in the back on the tennis court, then Steffi went out and played her next match. Awkward. The attempted murderer never spent a day in jail, by the way. Hopefully, the same won’t be said of 0bama.

Rush runs with the Big Dogs, there isn’t a person in the world he would hesitate to meet. I can see it as a good joke amongst he and the hospital staff, laughter is the best medicine.

As someone mentioned here at the time (sorry that I can’t remember who it was), visiting Limbaugh would have been a master-stroke for Obama. But Obama’s too much of a doofus to realize it.

Can you imagine a nurse feeling comfortable enough with most celebrities to joke with them like that? Can you imagine most celebrities taking it as it was intended?
Just picture pompous Keith Olbermann in a similar position, had the joke been made about Bush….

Just imagine if Obama had gone to see Rush, it would have showed a human side to him. I can’t imagine him actually having a human side, since he’s had a lot of opportunity to show it and hasn’t so far.
I’ll never forget Obama, during the campaign, when he was asked by a young boy why he was running for President and he went into a long dissertation about wanting to make things fair for all Americans and help the downtrodden and rambling on, rather than just say something a young boy could understand like what a great country it is that allowed him to be able to run for such a high office, or something like that. He’s just not capable of it.

Well, Obama felt “gypped” on his Martha’s Vineyard vacation because Teddy Kennedy died and he had to attend the funeral. No way he was going to allow Rush or the Fruit-of-the-Boom bomber to distract him this time.
I’m just disappointed that Barney Frank couldn’t tear himself away from that gay bath house in Frisco to make the short hop over to check on Rush’s condition.

Allah, I know you’re not 100% fluent with the niceties of Christianity, but would you please capitalize “God”? The way Rush used the word, it’s a name and not a category.

Yeah, I didn’t have a problem with the tone, so much as I didn’t see the capitalization as a problem. The comparison with Islam was supposed to be a comparison with the argument against the drawings itself, not with the violent reaction.
Maybe the other examples I gave are better for what I was getting at. Also, I was probably thinking too much about a similar thread awhile ago where this happened, only in that one, it began with several extremely rude and stupid complaints.
