Video: I’m okay, says Rush
posted at 1:10 pm on January 2, 2010 by Allahpundit
Via the Right Scoop, a belated dose of holiday cheer from yesterday’s presser. They don’t know what happened but it couldn’t have been too serious: Not only was he out of the hospital last night, he was in high enough spirits here to turn this into a stump speech for the status quo in American health care.
He’ll be back in front of the golden microphone sometime this week.

I don’t think this is true but it would be awesome if this was just a stunt to make a point about healthcare. We need conservatives using those type of tactics. They work.

Thank G_d.

It would freak me out every time I hiccuped since they didn’t find anything. I like a mystery as much as the next person but not when it is me.
Cindy Munford on January 2, 2010 at 1:16 PM
I hope he got the birth certificate. Seriously, the dig about healthcare was perfect. Glad you are ok Rush.
txag92 on January 2, 2010 at 1:16 PM
A sad, sad day … For the Left, you KNOW they were hopin’ he’d die. If it were Olberman, we’d be wishing him well.
Tony737 on January 2, 2010 at 1:16 PM
He sure had the lefties giddy for a while. Too bad! They’ll have to get over it. I saw a tweet a few days ago that said that the folks that wanted Rush to croak were the same ones that want to run your health care. Sorta gives you the warm fuzzies doesn’t it?
ncborn on January 2, 2010 at 1:17 PM
Hopefully, he rummaged around for Obama’s birth records before he left…Great news for the New Year.

You had us worried.

Prayers were answered for Rush’s recovery. We need as many like him as we can get to deal with this bho, team, and most of the dc bunch.

Awesome?
It would be dishonest and disingenuous.
A Conservative has needed only two things to succeed:
Liberals and the Truth.

Happy to hear you’re well, Rush.
And, I too, loved the quips about healthcare.

Libtards seem to think Rush Limbaugh is more to blame for killing Iraqis than their Messiah currently in office. Goes to show how “responsible” they are.

I absolutely agree. If that were true, my opinion of Rush would sink. I have to believe it’s what it was: he felt terrible pains and got himself checked out as any one of us would. He’s famous and that’s the only reason we know it happened.
princetrumpet on January 2, 2010 at 1:30 PM
Very happy to see the big guy made it through without any trouble. Look forward to seeing him back in the Atilla The Hun chair as soon as possible. The perverted response by leftists is a preview to what we can expect to happen if we get sick and don’t have the right political pedigree.

Anyway, great news about Rush…I had a scare similar to this on a golf course about 10 years ago. I too went to the emergency room where they did tests to see if I had a heart attack. Turned out I was having panic attacks. It was very real and very scary.
Love you Rush…keep up the good fight of doing The LORD’s work.
lukespapa on January 2, 2010 at 1:45 PM
Well I got that it wasn’t a pain killer when he answered the reporter’s question no. I didn’t realize they prescribed that for backpain but I guess it makes sense.
terryannonline on January 2, 2010 at 1:46 PM
It also explains the swelling in his face.
terryannonline on January 2, 2010 at 1:47 PM
He says the doctor said it could have just been a chest wall spasm, or an arterial spasm. But I think it may have more to do with his back pain that radiated around to his shoulder / chest.
He’s been going through incredible pain the past few weeks, to where he’s been having to stand during his show.
Enoxo on January 2, 2010 at 1:48 PM
Why doesn’t he get his back operated on?

Because the incision would be very close to his vocal chords. Not worth the risk to him.
Cindy Munford on January 2, 2010 at 1:55 PM
My daughter had to take that when her kidneys started failing. It has a tendency to promote weight gain. He should be careful of that also considering his problems with his weight.
This really is the best news of the new year so far though. I started considering who is both as talented and informed as him and no one can fill his shoes. No one.

In honor of Rush,i cranked on Rush-2112..the great anti-communism opus!
theTarCzar on January 2, 2010 at 1:57 PM
The left is besides themselves. They don’t know whether to hope for Rush’s demise or to pray for him. Some are even praying for his demise. Within Huffpo there seems to be a battle between those who wished him ill-will and those who wished him a speedy recovery.
A quick look at what the lefties were saying two days ago: “Good, he deserves it.”
Now that he seems to be fine, the comments are “He’s a faker” and “Publicity stunt.” and “I prayed and nothing bad happened to him.” (Okay, I threw that last one in)
ConservativeTony on January 2, 2010 at 1:57 PM

perroviejo on January 2, 2010 at 1:59 PM
I watched that presser live. I knew Liberals would accuse him of faking it all once he started talking about health-care.
Screw em all Rush. Let them try and make this a big deal, lol. I would bet good money that he injected politics into his recovery on purpose, hoping that somebody mainstream takes the bait. He does that alot.

After he took that question and left, the cardiologist seems to talking in the general direction of the questioner. Looks like she might be saying something like: “Do you really think that was appropriate, young man?”.
Tuning Spork on January 2, 2010 at 2:02 PM
I think that’s why he ballooned up to his weight he was at during that one CPAC speech, and the reason he went on his new diet where he lost a lot of weight.
Enoxo on January 2, 2010 at 2:02 PM
Physicians and lawyers are sprinkled through Rush’s ancestry.
I’ve often asked myself how Rush Limbaugh does it? How is it that this guy sees it as he does? His analysis of events denotes a superior intellect and a sly wit.
After some investigation the answer came to me.
He’s German with a good bloodline.
David2.0 on January 2, 2010 at 2:05 PM
Rush said he was getting married on July 4th on the radio, iirc.
Spirit of 1776 on January 2, 2010 at 2:05 PM
I mean, he said it during his show. Not that the ceremony is on air:)
Spirit of 1776 on January 2, 2010 at 2:06 PM
I am constantly amazed so many of Rush’s listeners have followed him for 20 years and then go on to mention they vowed to switch stations if Rush ever went soft or began to “spin” politics and that because he has never done that they have stayed with him all these years.
technopeasant on January 2, 2010 at 2:09 PM
Why hasn’t there been any stories on Rush’s (and Hannity’s) syndicator (owned by ClearChannel) blind-siding some Rush radio stations?
SouthernGent on January 2, 2010 at 2:10 PM
Be well and stay well, El Rushbo.
Rest and take care of yourself. Get a second opinion and a full physical to be sure that there are no secondary problems that have led to these back and chest pains.
I am sure that you were in good hands while under the care of the doctors and hospital in Hawaii. It was just another example of your first-class behavior to acknowledge fineness when it exhibits itself.
Happy New Year to you and many more to come.

Great idea. I remember that they dedicated that album to the “Genius of Ayn Rand”.
Rush is rightwing, whether it is the radio host or the band.

LtE126 on January 2, 2010 at 2:21 PM
I wasn’t aware that Rush (the band) was rightwing, although I moved from rock to country about 25 years ago. I’ll have to check them out and listen to some of their lyrics.
Since they are rightwing, can I assume correctly that they haven’t won any music awards?

SouthernGent on January 2, 2010 at 2:28 PM
Lemme run this by all Rush’s fans
Here’s my theory:
A very rare astrological (= heavenly, cosmological) event occurred on the last day of 2009 which carried its influence onto the next day, i.e the first day of 2010
I speak of the ” blue moon” ofcourse, 2 full moons in one single month
It worked for Rush by saving his body
It worked for the lunatics by exposing their dark souls
macncheez on January 2, 2010 at 2:30 PM
I agree. Kennedy was putting on some weight just before he died. I hope you also prayed to “gawd” for him.
ConservativeTony on January 2, 2010 at 2:30 PM
When i was growing up,the critics constantly bashed them, even though they are(arguably)the most talented hard rock band ever…music and lyrics.Nope no major awards either.Listen to 2112(album),”The Trees”(song) and “Red Barchetta”.You can probably find them on YouTube.

If they listened to your show, they’d realize you are not what they mistakenly think you are…and they’d learn a thing or two!

About five years ago I went in with pretty severe chest pains, and just like Rush’s case, they found nothing wrong.
My theory has always been that I happened to pull a muscle right where it felt like it could have been my heart, but whatever it was, when you say the words “chest pain” they really spring into action. No “sit over there and wait for someone to call you.”
I prayed that it would turn out the same way with Rush, and it looks like it did. Praise God.
calabrese on January 2, 2010 at 3:00 PM
That was my theory. Rush faked the whole thing and then at night snuck out of his room and went looking for the BC.

And if this woman http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2009/12/02/obamas_aunt_avoids_all_contact/ choked on a sandwich, we’d foot the bill for: the ambulance, the sandwich, the house the sandwich was made in, the electricity to run the refrigerator, the hospital bill, the lawyer for inevitable lawsuit and a nice pantsuit or two for the press interviews.
I suspect Rush paid his own way.
I also suspect that if this woman was the aunt of a Republican president and was still on the dole, and in public housing, while her millionaire nephew resided at 1600 Pennsylvania…
Doorgunner on January 2, 2010 at 3:14 PM
I feel bad for Rush having to deal with severe neck and back pain. My husband had a ruptured cervical disc and the pain was excruciating! The surgery did involve moving the vocal cords, so I can see where he would be hesitant to have the surgery. Many prayers for Rush!

I know Rush caught hell for this, but I thought he was 100% correct in his analysis of Mikey J. Fox missing a few medications to advance his own cause.

rjl1999 on January 2, 2010 at 3:31 PM
Because I’m no idiot. If you recall, during the 2006 election there was a lot of debate regarding stem cell research. In some “appearances” when he stumped for Democrats in his support for stem cell funding or when talking about Parkinson’s disease, his movements would be more profound that when he wasn’t discussing stem cell research.
Just my observations.
How about you? Proof that Rush was faking?
ConservativeTony on January 2, 2010 at 3:32 PM

David2.0 on January 2, 2010 at 3:34 PM
I don’t believe Rush was faking. But since the doctors found nothing wrong how do we really know? Why not just throw it out there like Rush did with Fox?
