I’m glad that he recognized the “American Spirit” in his little animated address because that American Spirit is going to kick his ass for the next three years until it’s out the door of the White House in 2012. Happy New Year one and all.

Or choose any one:

America needs more energy … our opponent is against producing it.

Victory in Iraq is finally in sight … he wants to forfeit.

Terrorist states are seeking nuclear weapons without delay … he wants to meet them without preconditions.

Al-Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America … he’s worried that someone won’t read them their rights?

Government is too big … he wants to grow it.

Congress spends too much … he promises more.

Taxes are too high … he wants to raise them.

I decided to be optimistic. Maybe there’s a method to voter insanity, in other words.

We do know that government can’t do a great deal to pull us out of recessions. That’s proven.

So this may go down as a “throw-away” year.

Certainly, the feedback from the public is, “No, we don’t want these policies or choices.”

It may actually serve to nip the left-wing in the bud. They were so convinced that their thinking was mandated.

Boy, are they slowly, slowly, coming to grips.

AnninCA on December 31, 2009 at 11:24 PM

He was so trying too hard to be acceptable that he really lost his appeal entirely.

I agree with you on a psychological level. When you have an administration that pushes cap-and-trade during a deep recession and expects people to not notice that’s really nothing more than revenue-generating…and then prices start back up, as they have?

Then you’re dealing with an ideological fixture.

AnninCA on December 31, 2009 at 11:29 PM

massrighty, take it easy. I think when AnninCA said he was an AA president, she meant “African American”.

Well, there I disagree. I don’t think he’s particularly qualified or unqualified.

He has no executive experience, for sure. That’s showing, too.

But then, did McCain prove his? He can’t even control his flipping campaign staff. They went out and immediately trashed Palin.

Does Pawlenty? Palin? Hillary?

There’s no perfect “experience.”

McCain’s campaign staff didn’t just trash Palin, they lied.

They were the source for the stories about the “shopping sprees.”

That’s now been revealed. So, question from me, would that administration have truly been any better?

I think not. I voted for McCain, but I don’t think he’d have been too competent, either.

AnninCA on December 31, 2009 at 11:36 PM

Look, I’m no big fan of McVain myself. But you can’t seriously compare the two.

Would McCain have driven a socialized medicine agenda? No

Would McCain have put forth such a childish and stupid foreign policy agenda that offers an “outstretched hand” to despots like Amnadinnerjacket? No

Would McCain have gone on a “world apology tour”? Not Likely

Would McCain have pushed forth a Cap and Tax plan? No

I could go on but the Jack Daniels has clouded my head.

My vote put me in the losingest category – “Let me be clear.”. I feel it necessary to explain… I didn’t choose this quote because I liked it (otherwise, I’d have selected “You lie!” from the choices available). I chose it because it is in fact 2009′s most repeated quote… and that’s not even counting when we’ve all said it mockingly.

“Let me be clear” is easily this year’s “oh snap”, or “you’re fired”. Also, it represents what a deceptive SOB our Marxist in Chief is… If you were “clear” or ever told the truth, you would need to be constantly prefacing comments with this ridiculous and obnoxious line.

I’ve been watching the Va. Tech Hokies put a good ol’ country whoopin’ on the Tennessee Vols–then on the phone w/ the wife who had to pull the night shift 30 miles away. I had to get my New Year’s kiss over the freakin’ phone–not the ideal circumstance, but it could be worse. There are still thousands in this area w/o electricity 13 days after the big gorebull-warming-caused snowstorm, and temps headed for single digits for the next few nights, so I’m counting myself fortunate.

A healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year to you and yours, my friend.

Glad to see “You lie” wins by a landslide! It is the hallmark of this administration and Congressional leaders. They are lying through their teeth to the American people!
But in the words of a great American patriot, “We have not yet begun to fight!” This year, 2010 will be a crucial year in American history. We all can make a difference. Stand up for America, patriots! Happy 2010 to all at Hot Air! May God bless America in 2010, especially in November!
