Unfair attack from the Right on Obama’s lack of response?

posted at 10:12 am on December 30, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Gary Gross notes this completely unfair attack on Barack Obama’s response to the Eunuch Bomber on Christmas Day:

“I hope the terrorists don’t think this is a good time to attack,” I said, looking protectively at the White House, which always looks smaller and more vulnerable and beautiful than you expect, no matter how often you see it up close.

I thought our guard might be down because of the holiday; now I realize our guard is down every day.

Man, that Bill Kristol can get nasty when Obama makes a mistake, can’t he?  Oh, wait — that wasn’t Kristol?  Maybe this came from Dick Cheney.  Yeah, that must be it, because the article goes on to say this:

Before he left for vacation, Obama tried to shed his Spock mien and juice up the empathy quotient on jobs. But in his usual inspiring/listless cycle, he once more appeared chilly in his response to the chilling episode on Flight 253, issuing bulletins through his press secretary and hitting the links. At least you have to seem concerned.

Darn it, Mr. Vice-President, how dare you suggest that Obama doesn’t care about national security and terrorist attacks!  That’s below the belt, and … huh?  That wasn’t Dick Cheney, either?  Was this Rush Limbaugh, then?

Citing the attempt of the Nigerian’s father to warn U.S. authorities six months ago, the president intoned: “It now appears that weeks ago this information was passed to a component of our intelligence community but was not effectively distributed so as to get the suspect’s name on a no-fly list.”

In his detached way, Spock was letting us know that our besieged starship was not speeding into a safer new future, and that we still have to be scared.

Heck of a job, Barry.

Heh.  Good one, Rush, tying that back to Katrina and the incompetence that — oh, wait, it wasn’t Rush Limbaugh, either?  Well, who was it who attacked Barack Obama so personally?  Next thing you’ll tell me is that it was someone like Maureen Dowd.  Give me a break.

Oh, wait …

If Obama has lost Maureen Dowd, then perhaps the outrageous outrage that erupted this morning over Cheney’s remarks should be reconsidered.  Be sure to read Dowd’s entire column, a sentence I thought I’d never write.

Dowd has never had much love for Obama, she always wanted Hillary to win because they are allegedly both women. Dowd has always been a proud liberal practicing identity politics so this doesn’t surprise me.

Unfair attack from the Right on Obama’s lack of response?

Arianna you are looking rough. Whoa!

Great, I may now have to stop confusing Kathleen Parker for Maureen Dowd on the basis the latter is now removed of her sheppish Obama worship.

is it any wonder that this failure happened ….think about it ….. is Holder still pressing forward with investigations of the CIA agents. Is the head of the CIA still engaged in screaming matches with the white house. You take a dump on these folks often enough … * SHRUG *

Aggie95 on December 30, 2009 at 11:16 PM

The proper response: let the airports deal with their own security. Do you think they like losing planes and customers? The free market would solve the problem better than any evil state could. Security in airports has been politisized thanks to the morons that decided security in airports should be nationalized.

I think it hilarious that the Proggs are all over Obama for doing something right.

Sometimes the most productive thing to do is nothing. This is especially true for an executive when a crisis hits — the worker bees need to get busy, and don’t need their elbows jogged (or to have to waste effort making sure the Suit is safe and comfortable).

But no. Call it the Pet Goat Principle. When something happens, the President must immediately go into “run in circles scream and shout” mode and start emoting all over the teevee, otherwise he “doesn’t care”.

::shrug:: Their game, their rules. I wish them joy of it.

Regards,
Ric

Who but a drunk would think that America’s loss of “Bugs Bunny panache” was something to lament about!?

EMD on December 30, 2009 at 10:27 AM

That particular turn of phrase stood out to me as well, and I was originally inclined to pop in here and ridicule that turn of phrase.

On second thought, I actually found it charming and apt.

But…I am a tiny bit drunk.

ED, bwahahahahhahahahaha! GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!

And for the cherry on top of Dowd’s attack:

Heck of a job, Barry.

Thomas L. Friedman is off today.

What? Friedman was too cowardly to address the Obama FAILURE that Britain already announced, so he sends in a woman to do the job. How convenient, get the woman to mop the floor. Evidently, Dowd accepted the duty with due bitterness.

THANK YOU, TONY HARNDEN! Had Europeans not led the charge, Dowd would never have dared stepped across Obama’s line. But it’s done now, B+rry unraveled.

B+rry’s LATE response epitomized the entire systemic failure that is his own, anyway. No one in his administration shows up for work to accomplish their Constitutional obligations. Only to play dirty politics, that being THE full-time job career obsession of every Obama Cabinet Member with the buck on the Oval Office Obama desk. That buck is too cheap for Obama to consider worthwhile–what’s $1.00 to a global Marxist wannabe dictator? Not even a bag of peanuts to bribe the poor. Let’s get down to the brass tacks, Obama’s killing the DOLLAR. Obamarx has no reason to recognize the buck, other than to order everyone else to buck up. Pass on the pain, B+rry F-up.

ALL THOSE MULTI-SYLLABIC WORDS WON’T SAVE THE LIAR In Chief from getting impeached. Three years of additional failures to go…”how long can you tread water?” Yet Obama’s puppet masters never projected Obama as Noah, too earthy a character for the god-like thug, “not just chauvinistic”. The only ark Obama would order his union build would be another UNSINKABLE Titanic, too big to fail, no luxury too great for his high and mighty faithful Marxists, locking up all others down below. All of Obama’s multi-syllabic slick talk won’t keep him afloat, neither will Obama’s blame game, nor his union thug and Federal employee henchmen.

Too many Americans love the US Constitution!
Hold tight. Keep the Spirit.
Prosecute Fraud. Impeach PC.

Funny how the left thought all the lies they could tell were fine and dandy about Bush.

The problem for the left is the stuff on Obama is true.

What we got here, is failure to communicate.

Hillary vs. B+rry vs. Hillary vs. B+rry…

Note well how quickly B+rry blames the CIA, the criminal Pelosi already having smeared them as liars who deceive Congress all the time. Janet Incompetano is a complete idiot, not even a qualified buffoon–B+rry’s appointment to head the DHS dot-connectors. She can’t see the nose on her own face, let alone see past it.

It’s long past time to hold the Democrat Majority and every minority responsible for their votes since THEY approved Napolitano, Holder, Holden, and Sotomayor whose infamy yet brews.

The same applies to those who voted to elect Obamarx POTUS despite his complete disregard for the US Constitution and repudiation that all citizens are equal under the law, that enemies of the state and enemy combatants and illegal aliens are NOT US citizens, and that Obama does not have the Constitutional authority to executive order INTERPOL authoritarian autonomy INSIDE of the USA superior to the US Constitution and superior to the US Government without regard for citizens’ rights, let alone unalienable human rights.

When “something wicked this way comes“, DON’T VOTE YES.

tarpon on December 31, 2009 at 9:05 AM

That problem is compounded since the public is on to their exploitation of crises making all things worse by far.

Obama gave the US nation BANKRUPTCY, ash to ash, dust to dust, yet demands we sing his praise.

Impeach PC, impeach fraud

TSA response, the TSA declined to say how many people were subpoenaed.

Media News never publicized what if anything happened to the TSA federal saboteur idiot who put all pertinent information online to make transparent how to successfully terrorize American airlines bypassing all security measures.

Last night, a San Antonio talk radio host said the greatest threat to the US is our own media news organizations turned against their Constitutional duties to report truthfully. Hold the records intact, and everyone accountable to the truth. Furthermore, given today’s ample information resources, news organizations including the government press releases that knowingly report fraudulent propaganda should lose their free pass.

Call it the Pet Goat Principle.

/Shouldn’t have gone there, pointing to a fundamentalist Muslim fetish.

From what I’m seeing in discussions of the least offensive way to stop MOST attacks, a metropolitan airport that just waived all security would draw enough business to justify a 1:1000 flight loss to terror.
