Quotes of the day

posted at 10:30 pm on December 30, 2009 by Allahpundit

“There has been a lot of discussion online and in the mainstream media about our response to various critics of the President, specifically former Vice President Cheney, who have been coming out of the woodwork since the incident on Christmas Day. I think we all agree that there should be honest debate about these issues, but it is telling that Vice President Cheney and others seem to be more focused on criticizing the Administration than condemning the attackers. Unfortunately too many are engaged in the typical Washington game of pointing fingers and making political hay, instead of working together to find solutions to make our country safer.”

***
“‘It’s long past time for House Republicans to put country before political party and work with President Obama and Congressional Democrats to learn from this episode and act quickly to protect the American people,’ Van Hollen added.

***
“Just to clarify, this is the same former vice president who we were told was Darth Vader, ruthless and cruel, obsessed with terrorism, draconian and lacking in perspective, stopping at nothing to find anyone who could be even remotely connected to al-Qaeda and using excruciatingly painful forms of interrogation that leave decent souls traumatized and Jack Bauer wincing.

“And now we’re supposed to believe he’s insufficiently interested in condemning the attackers?”

***
“There’s a continued, unfortunate tendency for everyone in Obamaland to preface every comment about something going wrong with a sideswipe against the Bush administration. On Sunday, Bill Burton, Deputy White House Press Secretary, briefed: ‘On the Sunday shows, Robert Gibbs and Secretary Napolitano made clear that we are pressing ahead with securing our nation against threats and our aggressive posture in the war with al Qaeda. We are winding down a war in Iraq that took our eye off of the terrorists that attacked us, and have dramatically increased our resources in Afghanistan and Pakistan where those terrorists are.’ Why pat yourself on the back for ‘winding down a war in Iraq that took our eye off of the terrorists that attacked us’ when the issue at hand is why the US government under Obama, er, took its eyes off a terrorist who did try to attack us and nearly killed 300 people? It’s bordering on the juvenile. Obama’s been president for a year now. It’s time for him to accept that things that happen as his responsibility, not Bush’s.”

***
“You may agree or disagree about the wisdom or effectiveness of any of those actions. But did anyone, on December 22, 2001, doubt that George W. Bush was serious about using all the powers of the U.S. government to strike back at the terrorists who hit the World Trade Center and the Pentagon? Did anyone doubt Bush’s resolve?

“Today, does anyone have such confidence in Barack Obama? That — and not some ‘double standard’ — is why there are so many questions about the president’s handling of the Detroit incident.”

How about the fact that the Yumping Yeminis played a rather huge role in the attack of The Cole?

wow i was trying to find Bush’s speech on youtube(without idiotic editing from the left,or cheesy editing from the right….cant really find a good one?) and i noticed all the straight-reporting clips about 9-11 have about 1/10th the viewers that the conspiracy clips do.Sad.

RE: Rush

Hopefully it’s not true. I had seen it on Google, there were stories/reports that Reuters was reporting it, that a spokesman was supposed to make a statement within the hour, etc.

I hope and pray it’s wrong and it was just something minor.

White house aid put that out.

…and while you are at it, why someone with no real accomplishments except voting “present” more than 132 times as a Senator and being a failed community organizer was considered enough experience to be POTUS by all you super smart liberals.

It is late. On the east-coast after 3a.m. it has been the most astounding year I can ever recall. Is it Kismet? I do applaud that SimpleSimon is gone, a blessing. Now to BleedsBlue and GrowsFins. You are the most unkind, absurd, poisoned people I have ever come across. If I have ever met you in person, I would shun you like the plague; for I have never, ever been attracted to small-minded, pea-brained, but paradoxically, puffed-up roosters of men. You are what you are and it is all laughable.

betsyz on December 31, 2009 at 3:14 AM

The Commander of the Cole and Dick Cheney both have one thing in common — eagerness to distract the public from deadly failures under their watch.

Bleeds Blue on December 30, 2009 at 10:39 PM

Ahhh…by the way genius….
….the attack on the Cole was on Bill Clintons watch…

……..like many of these failures…..
…along with the attack on our embassies…the attack on the world trade center…..the ignored fatwa by Osama…..
…the more than 8 times Bill Clinton had a chance to take out Osama but passed on them……telling the Taliban government ahead of time we were going to bomb Osama’s camp…..and since you liberals are whining about the current problems being Bush’s fault because Obama “inherited” them, you can mark the terrorist attacks on 9/11 up to the Clinton administration also.
That line works both ways in the real world.

Baxter Greene on December 31, 2009 at 3:31 AM

4 killed in Finland, shooter name Ibrahim.

Politicians, social workers and religious leaders have urged tighter gun laws, more vigilance of Internet sites, and more social bonding in the small Nordic nation, known for its high suicide rates, heavy drinking and domestic violence.

Yes, just make sure only ISLAMIC TERRORISTS have weapons. I bet Ibrahim was a heavy drinker, too.

Rookie on December 31, 2009 at 6:21 AM

From the Byron York article:

Obama’s aides even explained to at least one sympathetic reporter that the decision to play golf was a calculated, tough, and wise response to the incident and that the president was “projecting his calm” on the American people.

That, to me, sounds like Pee Wee Herman’s comment when he wrecked on his bike and flipped over the handlebars:

“I meant to do that.”

We’re dealing with President Pee Wee Herman here, folks.

No doubt. When you constantly blame someone else for every problem you encounter you have to expect that those folks are going to respond.

President Bush is above the pettiness that Zero is displaying and having Cheney and Rove as your attack dogs is a devastating combo.

I suppose Zero thought with everyone but FOX acting as his mouthpiece he could slide skate right on thru – but I don’t think it was wise to get in a stone throwing match with Dick and Karl.

Agree with TarCzar. Had the exact same thought when I saw that earlier.

You gotta admit Putin has balls. Bush had balls. Sarah cut Zero’s off and has a couple other sets laying around the house as well I imagine.

Mr Purple on December 31, 2009 at 7:25 AM

No, no, no. The question is this: can we trade Obama’s peanuts for Putin’s balls? Aw, shucks! A better question: can we just impeach Obambi and the Democrats?! Can we force a new election?

SilentWatcher on December 31, 2009 at 7:37 AM

Don’t blame Sarah for Obama’s lack of balls. Blame Frank Marshall, the communist who groomed Obama in more ways than one.

What I felt, and what I said, was that putting a blithering talk show host at the intellectual center of the conservative movement demonstrated intellectual bankruptcy of that movement. What I should not have done was take a that particular moment to make that point and I apologized for that.

But don’t let what I actually wrote diminish your need to play victim and hold grudges.

Bleeds Blue on December 31, 2009 at 8:37 AM

All that is needed is to contrast Rush’s cheerful demeanor against liberals general attack dog manner and it is obvious who is right. I know who I would rather listen to.
