Gallup: Palin comes thisclose to replacing Hillary as most admired woman
posted at 6:43 pm on December 30, 2009 by Allahpundit
No mean feat: With the sole exception of 2001, when Laura Bush likely got a 9/11-fueled bounce, Hillary’s taken the top prize every year since 1997. Not one win for Condi Rice, America? Not one?
I thought this was the ‘Cuda’s year. Book mega-sales, her every utterance covered obsessively by the media, the darling of the conservative base — and meanwhile Hillary, her exalted position notwithstanding, has seemed practically invisible for weeks on end. How’d she do it? Here’s how:

Hillary finishes second among Republicans while among Democrats Palin doesn’t even show. Then again, Hillary’s got a much tougher field on her side of the aisle: If not for FLOTUS and America’s favorite billionaire, she’d probably crack 50 percent on the left.
The One naturally wins going away as most admired man, but check this out. It took until December 30 but I’ve finally found my favorite data point of the year:

Glenn Beck is more admired by independents than Nelson Mandela and the Pope?

There was so much abuse of power in the Clinton Administration that I would have to undergo regressive hypnosis to dredge it all back into my immediate waking awareness.

Full disclosure before making an observation, I am a Palinbot, but like the term Palinista better.
Interesting that both the Reps & Ind can see qualities to admire in both Sarah & Hillary. I admit that I do also.
Seems like the Dems only admire other lefties.

Ah, yes! How could I have forgotten atheling? This was my final comment of the day to atheling in the Sarah Palin resignation thread.
In addition to being quite the conspiracy theorist, atheling has a habit of making allegations about her hosts here at Hot Air – today Allah is a Stalinist, that day he and Ed were “traitors”. But she totally tolerates criticism of Palin!

You must be joking, Allah – if you have always thought that then the evidence must be buried pretty deep.
I trust your nose isn’t growing too long…for the first nine months of the year your subtext has been her irrelevance outside her fanbase. Even with the book tour and the improved poll figures you have continued with your snarky little exit questions – and even now you can’t resist your “second place” dig.
I sometimes wonder if you have a little touch of the Sullivans about Sarah…
Still – she is an obvious money maker for you, AP, with all those hits – no need for RSM’s tip jar….

There is nothing admirable about being a dishrag, but then that is why I vote Republican. I don’t need to be pandered to on the basis of my gender in the most insulting manner while still coming in second to blacks and queers. The Democratic appeal to all minorities is blatant fear-mongering usually carried out by their own base. It’s completely dysfunctional.
After the 2008 primary, I lost all respect for Hillary and the Democratic party. When Hillary snubbed Sarah Palin over the Ahmadenijad protest speech, I came to truly hate her.

1. It’s a Gallup poll.
2. Dr. Rice pretty much ran State the way Hillary is running it now.
Chris_Balsz on December 31, 2009 at 1:05 AM
Why is that impressive? Seriously…why is being black impressive any more than being white or green.
He’s not even all that black, unless he’s at an ACORN meeting! He’s mostly white and Arab. And if he’s like most white folk, their three or 4 nationalities (German, French, Irish, etc) thrown in there as well. Around here he’d have every bit of that, if he was white, and probably some sort of Indian blood as well, probably Cherokee.
Besides, we all know Bill Clinton was the first black president!
There is NOTHING admirable about Obama, NOTHING. It was mostly white guilt, or fear of being called a racist that got that loser elected, nothing more. He should be embarrassed about that, not happy.
The man had no accomplishments whatsoever before he took office, and has accomplished nothing since, I mean NOTHING.
Oy!

gary4205 on December 31, 2009 at 2:53 AM
Shows you what you know, idiot.
Several items. ONE, Alaskan Governors have promised this deal in their campaigns for 50 freakin’ years.
Took Sarah two to make it a reality.
She actually got the paperwork started within a couple hours of going to work on her FIRST DAY in office.
MOST of this deal, and by most, I mean pretty much ALL of it, will be paid for with PRIVATE MONEY, not taxpayer dollars.
That was the genius of this deal, and why it worked when the rest crashed and burned.
Exxon-Mobil is one of the partners in this.
Now, the pipeline will not be completed until 2019, just about the time she is halfway through her second term as President.
By then, we will have, if we are smart, converted much of our automotive fleet over to compressed natural gas, the absolute cleanest burning fuel there is.
We should have already done this. The technology is mature, and with current engine management systems, the latest in direct injection, and more, it’s stupid not be be using CNG. Diesels can be converted to this as well.
You want to actually reduce REAL harmful emissions, and not the pretend ones like CO2? Here’s your deal.
Ford, GM, and Chrysler already make cars, trucks, and buses that run on CNG, and have for decades.
This is a no brainer.
Anyhow, by the time the pipeline is finished, the market for natural gas will be robust.
The quote you pulled is from some of those who still hope to derail this, because they bought stock in other oil companies, who want to do this sort of thing, but with their route, and their guys. Been trying to derail it since day one. Several are in the Alaska legislature.
This is the sort of crap that routinely sees Alaska politicians end up in orange jumpsuits. Sarah sent a few of these jackasses to prison herself!
BTW, you can also make the same observation about the price of gasoline, it’s collapsed from it’s high, as well, and they are still pumping oil as fast as they can pump it!
The United States has 100o’s of trillions of feet of natural gas. As Investor’s Business Daily puts it, we are the “Saudi Arabia of natural gas.”
Develop this, build some nukes, and we could become totally energy independent.
I have an idea, instead of being an idiotic troll, how about you go get yourself some education!
As usual, Sarah is on the cutting edge of things!
Now, kindly go pound sand.

Any Palin supporter who makes a single negative remark about HRC’s appearance should be ashamed of themselves. Have you not been paying attention? Have you not read Going Rogue? Have you not noticed that Sarah herself defended HRC over this type of crap in her book?

Somehow I doubt Exxon is her biggest fan after her power play on the leases they were sitting on. However, when a big project is going through that stands to make your corporation profits, you find a way to get onboard or your stockholders get a little antsy.
It’s called “capitalism.” Maybe you should google it sometime.

Poor stupid troll…..
As someone else pointed out, while Exxon-Mobil participated in this deal…and why not, it’s a money maker, they are not exactly Sarah’s biggest fans.
Sarah was really good about singling them out when she wanted to “make an example out of someone.” Hammered ‘em hard more than a few times.
As for “payoffs” you really are stupid, especially since going after that sort of thing is where Palin made her bones! What do you think was behind the whole deal at the AOGCC?
Yeah, GOP Chair Randy Ruedrich got hammered for doing party business at work, rather than work at work, but most of those that went down went down over under the table deals.
Only a moron would think Palin herself would be involved in that sort of thing. And since you ARE a moron, let me explain WHY she wouldn’t be involved, BESIDES THE FACT that she is an ethical person.
You see, the Alaska Republican Party hates her, I mean HATES her! Trust me, she had ALL of them watching her every move. Had she done something wrong, she’d have been visited by the same FBI boys that visited the crooked Republicans.
As to being a “RINO” you must be retarded, or something, as I am not even a Republican, and since I’m old school, certainly no “Neo” anything.
Of course, being a moron, I doubt you grasp the meaning of the term “Neo” or “NeoCon.”
But what gets me is just how ignorant you really are about well, pretty much everything!
You obviously don’t know anything about natural gas, especially CNG. Most big cities run their entire city owned fleet on either CNG, or Propane. Especially their buses.
I owned a propane powered car 25 years ago! It’s as close to a zero emissions ride as one could get (but that’s not why we bought it)
Farmers have run their stuff off of Propane (which is virtually the same as CNG, equipment wise), for over 50 years! Some only run their light duty stuff, like pick-ups, some run everything off of it.
There are already other countries where you see a lot of CNG powered cars, and they already have retail facilities in place.
From what I understand, Iran, of all places, is big on CNG powered cars, as they have a LOT of oil, but no refining capacity, so they have to import gasoline. And where there is oil, there is generally natural gas.
Honda started offering a CNG powered car for sale in the US this year, got a lot of press, despite the fact that the Big 3 have made ‘em for decades!
Here are a few cars and trucks for sale right now that run either exclusively on CNG, or can run on both CNG or gasoline (a popular option)You’ll note that most are city fleet vehicles.
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=cng&_sacat=6001&_trksid=m270&_dmpt=US_Cars_Trucks&_odkw=&_osacat=6001
We have 1000′s of trillions of feet natural gas in America, far more than once thought. Alaska alone has about 1000 trillion feet.
It would probably take a decade to get most of the fleet switched over, and the infrastructure in place, but if the environmentalists and conservationists were serious, we would have already been doing this.
BTW, several companies make machines to compress the gas for you at home. If you already have natural gas supply to you home, you can buy one of these units and fill your car up at home.
These units aren’t cheap though, about $5,000 a copy, and it takes 6-8 hours to refill, but like any technology, the more these things sell, the cheaper they get. And you have to charge up an electrical vehicle over night to use it, and you have limited range.
With CNG, you car operates just like a gasoline powered car. You can’t tell, just by driving.
Another thing, since natural gas burns so cleanly (which is why you can cook with it inside your home) there is little or no carbon build up inside the engine, especially the combustion chamber around the valves or on the tops of the pistons. As such, there are fewer contaminates in the oil.
It’s cool, the oil barely changes color over time. You drive 20,000 miles and the oil is still as clear as it was when you poured it out of the bottle. This, of course, greatly extends the life of the engine.
Anyhow, I know all of this is over the top of your head, as you obviously have the same IQ as canned cling peaches, but maybe someone else will read this and get something out off it.
BTW, there used to be a fleet of NHRA legal Super Gas cars out of Kansas that were sponsored by a NG Co-Op. These are 9 second, 150 mph+ race cars. They did very well.
Also, T-Boone Pickens, who made his billions with oil and gas, had a different idea, but realized it was folly, and that he couldn’t get enough backing. He wanted to take the CNG fired electric plants off line, and replace them with wind power, freeing up even MORE CNG to run our cars on.
You can convert diesel powered rigs to CNG, BTW, which would significantly reduce emissions. Diesel engines run very well on either CNG or propane.
In short, anyone who doesn’t think that CNG makes more sense than any of the other proposed “solutions” to our energy, and environmental issues, simply doesn’t think.
