Quotes of the day

“Reid’s office announced Tuesday the leader will invoke a cloture vote on the nominee in order to end debate and vote on the matter. Political fighting around the failed bombing of a Christmas flight to Detroit has intensified in the past several days.

“Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) has held up the nomination of Eroll Southers to head the TSA, which handles security at the nation’s airports. Reid spokesman Jim Manley labeled DeMint’s hold on Southers as ‘outrageous’ Tuesday as Democrats sought to cast Republicans as a party obstructing tighter security at airports.”

I like DeMint. I’d work on his campaign and I’d vote for him!

Star20 on December 30, 2009 at 2:33 AM

And also if you could show me where the Dems have demanded that the TSA unionize, that’d be great too.

palinforamerica on December 30, 2009 at 12:23 AM

What were those party-line votes about allowing collective bargaining at the TSA all about? Stop your dumb-play.

How many Democrats support Reagan’s firing of the striking air traffic controllers? Let’s ask them during the debate.

Buddahpundit on December 30, 2009 at 2:36 AM

Where’s Biden?

After his crack about airline safety at the height of the swine-flu uproar, I’m surprised Joe’s not out leading the “reassurance brigade.”

Beyond that, make sure that Dems get asked if they want to step on a plane at an airport where a union is responsible for security. I have a feeling that the rental-car and railway industries are about to get a big boost.

BuckeyeSam on December 30, 2009 at 3:25 AM

The TSA ain’t the issue.

Killing jihadis where they’re all snuggled up is the issue.

People fleeing from one rock to the next don’t have time to think about bomb plots.

Dead people have even less time to ponder such matters.

CPT. Charles on December 30, 2009 at 3:38 AM

Off topic, sorry:

President Obama created by executive order Tuesday a National Declassification Center to oversee efforts to make once-secret government documents public. The order comes as part of Obama’s promise to push government to err on the side of disclosure as it tackles the need to keep certain information from the public.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2009/12/obama-orders-creation-of-decla.html?hpid=news-col-blog

Wow! not only will the bad guys not have to bribe a politician, insert a spy, or wait for the New York Times to publish our national secrets anymore, but 0bama gets to lower the unemployment rates by appointing a new ‘Czar’ and hiring a thousand more federal bureaucrats.

Anyone want to bet that his college transcripts will NOT be one of the declassified national secrets?

So thats why Hussain went to Hawaii and have his bosses in AlQaeda send their guy over with a splody-undy.
Nice distraction !
But what was the hurry ? Why the EO had to be issued during vacation ?

Barry from DC is always out of town when the bad stuff gets released. It’s part of his “present” presidency. Bad economic numbers when he’s at parties in Copenhagen. Upping the debt limits for Fannie/Freddie and this EO while he’s golfing in Hawaii. All part of the same pattern. He wants to be President without having to be presidential.

I beg to differ, somewhat. The Fort Hood jihadist was homegrown and, tragically, a member of the US military. It could have easily been someone like him who got on domestic flight and ignited his own knickers.

Aside from that, I agree with you wholeheartedly and would take it a step further. We need to also de-nazify the Islamic world, beginning with the mosque and madrassas. When the “religion of peace” preaches misogyny and global domination, and the majority of its adherents go along with this and agree with and/or applaud the acts of the radical few (numbering in the millions), then they need to change – whether voluntarily or by other means.

“Enlightenment” or “Reformation” anyone?

Apart from possible connections to the same Imam, the glaring similarity between the Fort Hood shooter and this latest terrorist event is that both were being monitored by officials who should have acted prior to the terrorist acts. This, clearly, shows that the current administration is not taking the issue of terrorism seriously and that there needs to be greater information sharing between agencies. Hassan should never have been transferred to Fort Hood and the undiebomber should have never been allowed to board that plane given the information that was known.

No more college transcripts.

As Fred Thompson said a month ago, the ONLY transparency in government that Obama has achieved is to enable terrorists.

OBAMA’S NATIONAL SECURITY IS THE SYSTEMIC FAILURE

Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency – social transformation—the restructuring of American society.”–Vice President Cheney

Who’s going to protect the airports when the tsa goes out on strike. The dems just lead us down the same old path favoring their union leader buddies. Why does any govt job need a union?

Dialogue is always important for communication. And we have every right to protect our sovereign nation, and our citizens’ safety. However, it is not a Westerner’s place to reform religions, whether Israeli or Islamic in the Middle East or anywhere. Doctrinal requirements coming from us are fated to meet rejection. We wouldn’t accept any Islamic or Israeli Dictum, either. HOWEVER, it is our obvious place to at least provide moral support for the Iranian Green moderate Muslim movement; the people of Iran are striving now to overthrow their theocracy that tortures and kills any and all who do not submit to radical Islamic Jihad that declared war against all humanity.

OBAMA CUT/USURPED THE MEASLY TAX FUND CONGRESS APPROPRIATED FOR FREE IRAN humanitarian supplies.

Obama is the systemic failure misdirecting the US Government.

Kissmygrits on December 30, 2009 at 8:05 AM

Exactly! AS IF government employee benefits aren’t already cushy. HOW would government employees use a union? To grind our nation into ruin, just like they did every industry they overwhelmed. Unions monopolize to OWN American government and American lives. CARD CHECK doesn’t stop at the office. Politics: those New Black Panther thugs outside the Philadelphia voting center are only a whiff of Obama’s systemic deconstruction of American Constitutional Governance.

maverick muse on December 30, 2009 at 8:22 AM

Does anyone remember Max Cleland? He lost his job as a Ga. Senator because of his stance that the new TSA had to be unionized. It was portrayed by the left that he had been demonized by the right and accused of unpatriotic behavior. It was later proven that the right never made any reference to his patriotism but only to his devotion to unions. We have all seen what unions can do in a time of national crises, both good and bad. It all depends on their contract negotiations. Remember PATCO? Just good old air traffic controllers who had only your safety at heart. They picked the wrong Pres to mess with. BHO’s allegiance is to the unions, not to the people.

It all boils down to DECONSTRUCT PC if we want to survive intact. We tried it, and it failed miserably; and the longer we implement PC, the worse we suffer and the enemy thrives.

Think hard: Karzai 12
Rules of Engagement, Combat Regulations

Obama is sending his surge of our finest men and women into Afghanistan with their hands and minds tied into knots because of Obama’s insistence to play the PC game to destroy America.

Compound the encumbrances besetting our troops with a trap set for their entry, the point when any military operation is most vulnerable, as security has yet to be established for the new influx of troops. The Afghan Army and Afghan Police are already infiltrated by Taliban saboteurs. Attempts to bribe Afghans to side with America rather than the Taliban are foolish, to offer higher pay than the Taliban offers. Everyone in Afghanistan understands who’s staying forever, and who’s leaving shortly. Take the money and run. Hell, the Taliban have already established their own shadow government in Afghanistan to topple Karzai whose corruption certainly does not deserve the blood of any American to perpetuate.

Obama is the epitome of US systemic failure. Our troops deserve a Commander in Chief who loves America.

A government employee union would choke the last gasping breath from what yet survives as our Constitutional Republic.

B+rry is our bane to bear ONLY until Americans demand his impeachment and removal from office. 2010 will respond to Obama’s antipathy and systemic failures, domestic and international. ELECTIONS have consequences, so everyone help defeat the present Majority of Marxists.

right2bright on December 30, 2009 at 9:29 AM

Everyone knows that the reason we’re less safe today than we were before Obama took office is because of those five damned Republicans that are left in Congress. It damn sure isn’t the fault of the party that has a choke hold on the Senate, the House, and the White House.

Democrats will NEVER own their mistakes. As long as one Conservative lives and breathes – they’ll always blame their failures on him.

What a bunch of titty babies.

HondaV65 on December 30, 2009 at 9:43 AM

Oh, and as far as the TSA unionizing … they are all government workers and they have a union they can join (though they aren’t forced to).

Additionally, it was the Democrats – after 9-11 – who DEMANDED that airport security be “nationalized” when the GOP wanted to contract it out. Contractors can be fired. Companies that don’t perform can be fired but government workers – good luck firing therm.

You can thank the Democrats for bringing to airline security the same dedication and initiative that the Department of Motor Vehicles displays!

And now they want to make Doctors government employees too.

Hell – we DESERVE this for our stupidity in electing these fools.

HondaV65 on December 30, 2009 at 9:47 AM

J.J. Sefton on December 30, 2009 at 7:17 AM

When the Cold War started heating up, the U.S. government banned the Communist Party and made it a crime for any American citizen to be a member. We need to talk about similarly banning and criminalizing radical versions of Islam and the preaching of shahada inside the U.S. It should be a federal crime for anyone in the U.S. to openly rationalize, justify, and encourage suicide bombing, murder, martyrdom, and any form of violent attack on civilian or military personnel anywhere within the U.S. or on a U.S. flag airline or ship. Violators should face prison without parole or deportation with a permanent ban on re-entry to the U.S.

The Barack Obamas and Ron Pauls of the world can keep sticking their heads in the sand and pretending there is no threat from radical Islam within the U.S., or that somehow being friendlier and apologetic about U.S. foreign policy will fix all of this. But the evidence is mounting and the people are getting fed up with the nonchalance of our government about this threat. How many more Fort Hoods and airplane attacks is it going to take before we admit that there is a serious threat here that has nothing to do wuth U.S. foreign policy and must be dealt with harshly???

Are FBI and CIA operatives afraid to ‘profile’ and report on terrorist activities under the Holder Department of Justice?
That would be interesting hearings which I doubt will be held until the change of Congress to republicans after 2010.
