Quotes of the day
posted at 10:37 pm on December 28, 2009 by Allahpundit
“Obama didn’t address his critics during a brief appearance in Hawaii on Monday, saying only that ‘the American people should be assured that we are doing everything in our power to keep you and your family safe and secure during this busy holiday season. … As Americans, we will never give into fear and division.’
“A White House spokesman says the administration wants to avoid making the national security and terrorism a partisan issue.
“‘The president doesn’t think we should play politics with issues like these. He hasn’t. His response has been fact-based and appropriate and will continue to be as such,’ said deputy White House press secretary Bill Burton.”
***
How do you feel—how do you react, personally—when you see the former vice president going on about how this administration is not keeping the American people safe, or has abandoned important policies? Are you dismissive of it? Does it tick you off?
I frankly don’t understand it. There’s a part of me that doesn’t really believe that he believes what he’s saying.
One of the things you said to me a while ago was that the prior administration had actually left a pretty effective counterterrorism infrastructure in place. Tell me about that and what you think they did right.
I don’t think that administration gets enough credit for that. Unlike former vice president Cheney, I have an ability to say [something positive about a rival administration]. I might have disagreed with them on policy matters and certain techniques that they might have used, [but] I think that they did leave in place a system of human and signals intelligence that has allowed us to monitor and to foil plots. Now, having said that, I think we have certainly made improvements.

You know what smart is?
When you know you’re not so f&ckin’ smart.
Do you realize how stupid you sound right now?

We all know what it takes to win…
… Kill your enemy. Defeat them at every point. Take away every advantage. Pound them into dust. Make anyone, ANYONE, understand that their mission is folly. Write into history your strength and that ‘Freedom’ and ‘Liberty is right. Place the losers in very dark, cold, and isolated prisons as possible. Scrap ‘Political Correctness’, and shove ‘Rules of Engagement’ that get our soldiers and citizens killed up the as&ses of those who propose it in the first place!
Any further questions…?

There are only two ways to win a war…
Take away the enemys ABILITY to wage war… which we will not do because we no longer believe in total war…
or take away his WILL to wage war… which we will not do because we will not acknowledge the primary motivator, Islam, and eradicate it…
And we will not even use the evolutional survival mechanism of FEAR… because we will not take off the gloves, and make our enemies FEAR us…

Proud Rino on December 29, 2009 at 12:40 AM
as a person with a high amount of common sense once told me. Use your freaking mind you have the world wide web for the details.
If I want to know the past 15 or 44 president’s I got google, bing, ask.com to find the answers. Spourting off facts is not and never has been a sign of intelligence. The ability to process those facts and use them in day to day situtions to better your country, your family and yourself on the other hand is a sign of a highly intelligent person.
I ask which kind is Obama. book smarts does not equal intelligence. It never has and never will.

there is a third way as the cold war showed. FEAR of utter destruction. We should issue an ultimatium stating that any attack on the US or its airplanes, its ships etc will bring the total destruction of Mecca and Medina. Period end of story.

Now that’s not fair. You cut off the rest of ddrintn quote where he correctly accused you of having a “snot-nosed pseudo-intellectual air.” Now, that may not be Latin, but the description is dead on.

LOLOLOLOL. Yes, me cutting off the quote where he started in with the (careful, this next part is a really commonly-used Latin phrase!) “ad hominem” attacks after he answered my question (with an eloquent “dunno”) is unfair, but accusing me of having a “snot-nosed pseudo-intellectual air” is TOTALLY fair, in your world, because…well, because that sounds like something you agree with.
Man, I’d love to live in a world where your standards of fairness can just shift to whatever sounds good at the time. That must be awesome.

Odd. You could PROVE your argument by refuting the specific criticisms Rove raises, and yet you rely upon merely asserting without foundation.

Of course, if you have no answers for the Rove points, that would explain it.

1. The “dunno” was a perfectly appropriate brush off – why do you assume you warrant an eloquent response?
2.Cutting off a quote is unfair, by any standard, because you distort what you are responding to which renders the whole exchange meaningless.
3. Yeah, the snot nosed remark is something I agree with so I said it was “dead on.” In my world, things I agree with are..um…things I agree with and therefore true to me and my reality. Isn’t that how it is for everyone? Or maybe just for conservatives. Liberals, and proud rinos would prefer a panel of snot nosed pseudo-intellectuals, maybe on a government salary, to tell them what to think and to supply them with talking points. I guess that’s your version of fair.

I take it you meant “Rove” and not “rive”?
Obviously you were so busy devoting your brain power to your incisive analysis of the situation you were beyond such pedestrian details.
Anyway, Bleeds – do me and all of us who read HotAir a favor. Point out in this interview where:
1. Rove lies.
2. What that lie is and show us why it is false.
3. What the truth is in contrast to what you seem to believe are his lies?
If you cannot do that, then simply admit that in the face of his factual tear down of the current situation you have nothing on which to fall back save for some silly talking points inspired nonsense that does not address the topic of the post.
In short, use facts and reason. You have already shown you have no such weapons at your disposal when you post such moronic drivel.
How can you tell when an incompetent troll has no idea how to respond in a good faith debate? He/she is typing. Trolls HAVE no ideas, they rely on silly quips using tu quoque, ad hominem and ad baculum bleating.
Bleeds, if you cannot show us in an honest way where Rove lies in this interview and on this topic then you have no place joining the discussion as your posts add nothing and the discussion would benefit from your removing yourself. I am sure even those stupid enough to agree with you would see it the same way. After all, even as rock hard stupid as they may be, they understand that posts as idiotic as yours actually find a way, impossible as it may seem, to make their views look even less reasonable simply by association with your foolish and trite post.
If you wish to find a crowd likely to be impressed by you I suggest the Philosophy department at your local unaccredited community college or your local Starbucks – find the wannabe poets tapping away on their MacBooks. They will find your brand of stupidity almost as brilliant as would the kiddies at DemocraticUnderground.
Here be adults. Ye be unwelcome.
RDuke on December 29, 2009 at 2:19 AM
You need to concentrate on never saying anything that would get you banned. We need you here to demonstrate (each and every time you open your idiotic mouth) just what a bunch of hypocritical loons, you moonbats are.
Did you really just try to insinuate that you have a greater stake in national security concerns than others who comment here, based on where you live, without actually knowing where anyone else here lives? Really?
And how many times have you commented something to the effect, “Well, I sympathize with you military folks, but just being overseas doesn’t make you an expert or give you any greater claim to the argument”. But you’re a freaking expert over other commenters in national security because of where you live? Holy Hannah! Gall, thy name is BleedsBlue!
You are the worst kind of troll here because you only say half of what you feel. Your word barely mask the same unreasonable rants the likes of SimpleSimon, GrowFins (The noted Hot Air liar and comment fabricator) and CR666. You also never substantiate anything you say. What did Rove lie about? What made The Bush Administration worse at national security than your pitiful excuse for a commander in chief? I might add that the Bush Administration had the harder task of undoing the damage done to the intelligence community by Jamie Gerelic than your guy had of trying to appease the far left by reinstituting the same failed policies and, and reappointing Gerelic to a position in his administration. MY GOD! Could you ever, ever come here and make a point bourn of reason? Are you capable of being at all critical of your side like we are with ours when it’s called for?

A few points:
1. The O administration: Janet and Hill and the big O decided to put this latest terrorist on the lowest rung of all existing ‘lists’……and ensure that he wasn’t on a no fly list or anything of (apparent) importance, regardless of Daddy’s intel.
[Why is a terrorist on Any of the lists allowed to enter this country by any means, whatsoever?]
2.) They decided not to tinker with his visa (multi-visit) status after receiving info from Daddio.
3.) The above decisions have nothing to do with Bush.
4.) They ignored his paid with cash/no luggage status.
5.) They’re treating him as a common criminal as opposed to non-combat status according to international law.
The last point is the most heinous.
O is the dark side. I’m sick of all the pussyfooting around. Deal with reality.

Attacks will increase because Obama has castrated the spirit of American counterterrorism to do their jobs.
Obama is a weak, impotent, and incompetent leader.
But hey, he’s Black! What a wonderful thing for our race relations huh?

I have no use for Islam. It is a phony religion, cooked up by a murdering, pedophile extortionist. But I doubt we can eradicate it and so there will always be a certain number of Achmeds out there willing to blow their own nuts off for allah…if given the opportunity. We must remove that opportunity. Making airline passengers sit quietly with their hands in their laps for the last hour of a flight will not do it. It only makes an already onerous activity even more onerous and fearful. The Israelis know how to profile suspected terrorists properly without discouraging and unduly infringing on innocent travelers. But we have made “profiling” a racist term and would rather strip search granny from Dayton while giving Achmed a nod and a wink. PC is killing us and our only reaction is more PC and a moronic, bumbling precedent who’s solution is yet another moronic statement blaming the previous administration and apologizing for America. I admit I was a bit surprised – shouldn’t have been – at the treatment of this ‘suspect’ (I believe that’s what Obama called him) in terms of his handling through a legal process. I suspect that under a different administration, he’d be undergoing some questioning and military/intelligence scrutiny right now (especially given the rumor that there are a couple dozen more just like him waiting in the wings), rather than plotting with his court-appointed attorney how to beat the wrap.
We’re in trouble. This entire ‘treat it like a legal problem’ approach is going to get more people killed.

But several people had posted responses to what BB posted and *hadn’t* pointed out that he had missed mentioning Coolidge. In fact, people had accused him of googling the answer (because remembering the presidents is sooooooo difficult) meaning that they believed his answer was right. So I said it before, and I’ll say it again – epic logic fail, csdeven. Epic.
Well, my advice for you is to stop posting on Hot Air and stop trying to sound like you know what you’re talking about, because you don’t. It isn’t working. As a matter of fact, the more you speak, the less intelligent you expose yourself to be.
…See? Are you going to stop now? Yeah, me neither. FWIW, I don’t think the ability to name the presidents and number of terms they served means a person is smart. Someone told me that I couldn’t possibly do that, and, if you’ll grant me that I knew who President Truman was and was just trying to type as fast as possible (so as to avoid “Oh you just googled it” as a response), I did. I didn’t say it made me smart.
However, if you spend a lot of time talking about politics and thinking about politics and you can’t name all the post-Harding presidents off the top of your head, that *does* make you pretty ill-informed regarding a topic that you apparently believe you know a great deal about.

Hogwash. Medicaid is alive and well and always has been. As for the other “uninsured”, they need to stop whining and buy health insurance just like all the responsible people do.

Obama says U.S. less safe

F*** you, Barack. And the same to all you Democrat scumbags.

Yes, unseen, I thoroughly concur…Jefferson identified true intelligence as “informed discretion,” as a means of utilizing one’s knowledge and experience effectively and in a mature and responsible fashion, rather than rote memorization and other such “exhibitions” some use to try to prove their “smarts” (which has been revealed by Proud RINO in this and other threads).
Unfortunately, too many confuse an assessment of another’s capability as an “ad hominem” when it’s actually just criticism. Positive or negative, criticism is a vital means of eliminating or minimizing one’s flaws.
Too bad some people can’t seem to take criticism, let alone internalize it in order to become better people…I guess those folks are doomed to prepubescence ad infinitum.

They, like us, really do not fear death. They believe in an afterlive that is actually a whole lot better then the one they have.
Cruelty and terror. Old movie showed the fear that muslims had of being buried in a pigs skin. How cruel would it be to THREATEN to take a C130 loaded with the blood of 10,000 pigs to spray their holy sites and people?
But Americans are not cruel or terrorists. And as the Fonze said, you actually have to “hit” someone once to get the reputation.

Poor Trolls..They can’t defend the response of this Administration to the Nigerian/Yemeni Terrorist, nor the fact that there has basically been one terrorist plot per month, either stopped or carried out(like Maj. Hasan)since the Immaculation of Barack The Magnificent.

Here’s a fun thing to do: Show me where I said that the ability to list all the Presidents and the number of terms they served off the top of your head meant that a person is intelligent.
Because if you can’t find that, then, however we define what an intelligent person, we can safely say that you are not one of them – not because you can’t remember who Chester A. Arthur is, but because you’re either terrible at reading comprehension or you assumed that because some other commenter made an assertion, that assertion must therefore be true.

Cue the Rod Serling music.
Nutters!
hawkdriver on December 29, 2009 at 11:03 AM
And why do you say that?
Proud Rino on December 29, 2009 at 11:09 AM
Still waiting, btw.
Proud Rino on December 29, 2009 at 11:09 AM
Your response is lame…I can name all of the presidents (from Coolidge on, and most of our 44 from memory), yet I would’ve refrained from mentioning this tidbit for other, more relevant and important, points…choosing instead to focus on BB’s inability to point out any “lies” made by Rove or his insistence that the Bush years were bad for America, but can’t provide evidence to that fact or to the inferred point that Obama years are therefore better.
Your insistence on reciting all 44 Presidents and the refusal to argue the logic of BB’s assertion that Rove “lies” and Bush is “unsafe for America” shows to me that you are wholly incapable of arguing in such a fashion, whether you agree or disagree with BB.
True education is NOT rote memorization…it involves using your knowledge in real-world decisions, and knowing when you do not know enough and that you must obtain more information.
Unfortunately, you are living under one of Jefferson’s implicitly proposed conditions…you are someone who is ignorant and unfree in civilization. The only way for you to become free is to become truly educated.
Seriously, I pity you and other lefties like you, for you actually believe you’re educated when such tripe is discharged from your brain. (I don’t care what your moniker claims…you post like a lefty).

Let’s try it again: Show me where I said that the ability to list all the Presidents and the number of terms they served off the top of your head meant that a person is intelligent.
Proud Rino on December 29, 2009 at 11:14 AM
Does that answer your question?
Miss_Anthrope on December 29, 2009 at 11:15 AM
NOTE: I never stated you made that claim specifically…you just imply it with your posts, DESPITE your claim to the contrary.
Miss_Anthrope on December 29, 2009 at 11:16 AM
No.
Does bolding help? I’m sorry, if you don’t understand what those words mean, I don’t know how to help you.
Proud Rino on December 29, 2009 at 11:16 AM
Yea, I figured you have a nuanced version of why your criticisms apply to others but not you. Typical leftist douchebaggery.
Unlike you I am not shallow. You seem to think rattling off information that you Googled makes you smart. Even then you screwed it up. You are not believable and the more you protest, the more shallow you are shown to be.
You didn’t have that information at the ready except by going to a search engine to find it. You most likely are a 50 year old loser living in your grandmas basement.
You are an assclown of colossal proportions and just about every person that reads your drivel knows it. You act that way because you feel safe behind your keyboard. If you ever get outside, you would remind folks of a frightened yapper dog slinking around with your head on a swivel.
csdeven on December 29, 2009 at 11:17 AM
Right, oh of course, so I didn’t say that. I actually said the opposite of that. Thanks for playing. If I forget, remind me not to bother with you again.
