Inevitable: Hopenchange finally coming to … the Food Network

posted at 7:54 pm on December 28, 2009 by Allahpundit

In which one of my favorite gags about The One’s media ubiquity is rendered instantly obsolete. I may have to retire that joke entirely for the simple reason that there’s no such thing as an Obama-free zone on cable anymore. You’re probably safe with G4, but so help me, one of these days I’m going to turn on “Cheaters” and he’s going to be there subbing for Joey Greco. “Do you want to confront him?” “Yes, Mr. President.”

In his defense, this episode of “Iron Chef” does sound sweet.

If IC Morimoto had been in that episode of ICA, would Obaka have bowed to him too?

macncheez on December 28, 2009 at 8:39 PM

Oh, and the “Natives” laughed that America had “many fat people there” and called cattle raised in Montana, “diseased.”

Otherwise, they were happy, dancing, appealing Leftwingers enjoying peace on their island as long as “America” stopped it with the “chemicals” that somehow plagues their island in the frickin’ South Pacific.

It’s tough to confront rudeness and stupidity in people who are wearing grass skirts and grassdoodahs over their privates but, well, though they were happy, dancing, fun guys (the “Natives”), they were quite misled.

Lourdes on December 28, 2009 at 8:40 PM

It’s the Obama-Democrats-Blame-America infestation of just about all the airways, and IT’S TO BLAME for the “hate America” thing that the Left continues to complain about. They never get that, that they create this mantra that other people then repeat.

Lourdes on December 28, 2009 at 8:36 PM

They know exactly what they’re doing.

Cody1991 on December 28, 2009 at 8:41 PM

So you’re more comfortable with the Celebrity in Chief in the White House than a real leader, right?

You are what is wrong with this country.

Knucklehead on December 28, 2009 at 8:30 PM

I’m comfortable with the First Lady pushing the idea of healthy, nutritious and (and tasty) eating from the White House in creative ways.

She’s just following in Nancy Reagan’s footsteps, after all.

I don’t watch iron chef and I’m sure I’m missing something regarding the structure of the show… But I laughed so hard when Emeril said he was waiting for the chairman to come out.

JCred on December 28, 2009 at 8:00 PM

Yeah, but that was just before he praised Michelle Obama as “stunning.” I can’t take Emeril seriously after hearing him make that proclamation. Just can’t take his idea of what good and bad is, seriously, ever again, his idea of “taste” is dead to me.

Allah, I wouldn’t be so sure about G4… Kevin & Olivia regularly shilled for all things Obama before & after the election(as well, display their disdain for Repubs & middle America in general). There was also a Japanese Obama impersonator that did run the Sasuke/Ninja Warrior course (No he didn’t – finish the 1st stage).

I’m a big fan of Iron Chef (America & the original) & won’t watch this one live. I’ll save it for the DVR so I can fast forward through… ummmm… FLOTUS commercials.

terryannonline on December 28, 2009 at 8:36 PM

While I don’t agree with calling the Michell Obama a beast, it’s not racist to call her that, just tasteless.

And while we’re on the subject, I also don’t like when women are always called to task about their appearance while men usually get a free pass. But I remark on her appearance only because it’s ridiculous to compare her to the great Jackie O when it comes to fashion, and the orange tent topped with a blue sweater straight out of a middle school just drives the point home.

Or am I just being racist because I don’t think Michelle knows how to dress?

CarolynM on December 28, 2009 at 8:45 PM

They know exactly what they’re doing.

Cody1991 on December 28, 2009 at 8:41 PM

Yeah, you are likely quite right.

I guess my point earlier was that the Left “never gets that” (that they create the complaint they then complain about) in the sense that they NEVER ADMIT THEY CREATE IT.

More of that “it’s what they don’t admit that one must be concerned about” thing.

I don’t think it ridiculous to compare Michelle’s style to Jackie O. Many outfits that Michelle wears remind of Jackie O.

For goodness sakes, there was nothing racist about that at all.
I haven’t a racist bone in my body.
Bad taste, yes, but not racist.
I loathe the Obamas for what they are jointly doing to this country and use ridicule as one of the few weapons available to me.
I would never call someone directly in contact with me an asshole, however.
That is personal and hurtful.

Mrs. justltl whacked me in the head over it nonetheless.

CarolynM on December 28, 2009 at 8:45 PM

Well, I don’t remark much about physical appearance unless someone’s trying to convince me that a woman (for example) is a ravishing beauty when she obviously isn’t. Mrs. O’s attractive enough, but ungainly and stoop-shouldered. She doesn’t really exude the elegance attributed to her. Nor does her husband, for that matter.

Bleeds Blue on December 28, 2009 at 8:41 PM

Oh, I’m not comfortable with Michelle Obama in her First Lady rendition nor her preponderance of lies about just what she’s doing in the White House and why…

She’s brayed that she isn’t involved in the Presidency (playing some “I’m a dutiful wife without intrusion on my man’s daily work” part), AND IMMEDIATELY AN ARTICLE POPS OUT that she’s popping INTO a high-security WH meeting on National Security “to introduce everyone to BO the dog”.

That she’s even popping into high security meets in the White House is a huge problem and indicates she’s got full access to anything she wants, for starters, so that’s a lie that she’s “not involved in…yadddayaddayadda”.

Then there’s her ongoing horrific displays USING public school kids from the DC area on and in the White House, people she could not understand or care less about if she tried (and she doesn’t try, the gold $$$ sneakers she wore to a fifteen minute soup kitchen — where she stayed long enough to get her photo taken there, then she left after the story was issued that she’d gone there “to serve the homeless/needy” [whatever])…

Adn that garden? She doesn’t garden, she “has people to garden” then she goes on about her garden and the vegetables and makes her appearances “with” the White House kitchen staff WITH “her” vegetables…

The WH gardeners planted, tend and harvest the garden at the White House, just like they tend to the dog and all the plants around the place.

I just can’t stand Michelle Obama’s utter phoniness at play-acting at being a nice person, while her entire life story and written record reveals her to be very much NOT a nice person, not even close.

Plus she looks horrible. All the plastics and reworks do not cover nor hide the awful person there. It’s ghastly and ridiculous to continue to read in media how media claims she’s “attractive” and “well dressed” and whatever — she’s a ghastly, ugly person. There’s not one new eyebrow drawn on her that can change that.

Like I’ve been saying for years now, Obama is the American Idol President. He has turned the office of President of the United States into a reality show event in which the winner is the one who has the best teleprompter reading voice and mannerisms.
It doesn’t matter if he has zero executive or foreign policy experience. As long as he can read his lines as good as the Allstate guy and act like he’s Will Smith’s clone, then he’s the reality show star.

Speaking as a resident of the neighborhood whose school she “uses”, and an occasional volunteer in the soup kitchen where she wore her ugly sneakers, we’re all pretty pleased that she’s shining a little light on this particular issue. Not that she changes thing overnight, but increased awareness is important.

There’s never an occasion of the use of children as puppets and theatre-fare can be reasonably understood as acceptable by responsible adults.

If you’re in need of more publicity or “light” “shown” on your situation, go and do it responsibly yourself and stop allowing gullible children to be used as puppets or otherwise, utensils (for your own purposes or anyone else’s).

If people such as yourself get irritated that Michelle Obama is criticised in a real sense for her actual and obvious failings, it just points out the ugliness of what she’s about.

And I continue to note that she inspires just your sort of nastiness in nearly all those who enthuse about her. It seems that she inspires exceptional hatred of others.

It was at some point in the past posted online after someone made inquiry into the salaries, all of that, public domain information since they’re paid by the taxpayers.

I don’t have a link today, what with all the scrubbing that goes on by the Left of the internet. But if you file a demand for the information, you can get it, even updated. Because now I think she has “23″ “assistants” paid for by taxpayers, not the “22″ as I listed there from the earlier report.

I was wondering the same thing, especially since it’s particularly unflattering with that vintage style of dress (which I love), as it completely obliterates her waistline. Since she wears them regularly — so it wasn’t the weather — and she likes her shoulders, I can only think it’s because bare shoulders are offensive to some cultures.

I don’t think that makes any sense. What’s more clear is that the term is used to describe girth, size, strength – also a certain ungainliness. In a womans case, lack of femininity, a hardness. It’s certainly not a flattering description but I think it shows a real hyper-sensitivity to think it has anything to do with dehumanizing black people.

There is no way in Hades that I would honor this program by tuning in. It’s historical … no it’s hysterical … what a joke.

ORrighty on December 28, 2009 at 9:33 PM

And I think both of the Obamas are unattractive, bad dressers and over-hyped.

Not as unattractive as SanFranNan and just slightly worse dressed than Lynne Cheney (seriously Lynne Cheney is a terrible dresser); but there is my opinion.

However, they hold the record for being the winners of the white-guilt-has-gotten-us-where-we-are over-hyped nothings.

Furthermore have never seen Michelle Obama dressed classy in any way, shape or form. The dead Kermit the frog gloves at the inauguration prove my point.

Oh, and b/c of TOTUS, “for the first time in my adult life I AM NOT proud of my country.”

Branch Rickey on December 28, 2009 at 9:34 PM

I am a big Iron Chef America fan, but I am going to give this episode a pass, strictly because I am now sick and tired of B.O, and Mama Michele infiltrating themselves into every aspect of life.

So what’s next, both of them showing on on SyFy’s Scare Tactics?

pilamaye on December 28, 2009 at 9:34 PM

I like Flay, and Comerford is a class act. The Bush admin hired her anyway. But I’ll stick with Guy Fieri, Rachel Ray (yes…Rachel Ray!)and that Ieda (sp)Mollencamp on Saturday’s is hot. I know, I have no sophistication.

Guys, she’s just the First Lady. You guys need to calm down.

terryannonline on December 28, 2009 at 9:28 PM

You are truly dimwitted. They supposedly care about the little people …right? Actually considering the plight of Americans these days it is quite disgusting. Go ahead and play along you friggin nut job.

Remember how they treat Repubs.

You know I really don’t like the fact that a reality show is coming to the White House (and I happen to enjoy watching some of the Iron Chef shows).

Maybe it just has to do with the dignity of our country or the seriousness of the symbol of the White House. It just seems all of a piece with the Obama attitude towards our country–it kind of fits right in with Obama not wearing a tie.

Last year when she said for the first time in her life she was proud of her country indicated then that she is unqualified to be First Lady.

INC on December 28, 2009 at 9:42 PM

Yeah, but that was just before he praised Michelle Obama as “stunning.” I can’t take Emeril seriously after hearing him make that proclamation. Just can’t take his idea of what good and bad is, seriously, ever again, his idea of “taste” is dead to me.

Lourdes on December 28, 2009 at 8:42 PM

Speaking of the Bushes, even though President Bush’s went south and the left were attacking him, I think most (not all) liberals left Mrs. Laura Bush alone. I just think it looks tacky attacking Mrs. Obama when she’s not very political.

terryannonline on December 28, 2009 at 9:45 PM

Annonline:

My attempt at a joke had absolutely no racist intent, nor was it an attempt to dehumanize black people.

Ironically, if you had any insight into me or my life’s work and circumstances, any suggestion of that would be absurdly obvious.

I’ll tell you what, though- if you somehow think that using the term beast or beasts alludes to black people, I would suggest that you examine your own mental associations
and prejudices.

terryannonline on December 28, 2009 at 9:45 PM

So what realm does patient dumping fall in?

Sen. Barack Obama’s wife and three close advisers have been involved with a program at the University of Chicago Medical Center that steers patients who don’t have private insurance — primarily poor, black people — to other health care facilities.

Michelle Obama — currently on unpaid leave from her $317,000-a-year job as a vice president of the prestigious hospital — helped create the program, which aims to find neighborhood doctors for low-income people who were flooding the emergency room for basic treatment….

Obama’s top political strategist, David Axelrod, co-owns the firm, ASK Public Strategies, that was hired by the hospital last year to sell the program — called the Urban Health Initiative — to the community as a better alternative for poor patients. Obama’s wife and Valerie Jarrett, an Obama friend and adviser who chairs the medical center’s board, backed the Axelrod firm’s hiring, hospital officials said.

Someone already mentioned this letter from Michelle Obama:

In February 2004, Michelle Obama wrote a fundraising letter during her husband’s 2004 US Senate campaign claiming the partial birth abortion ban “is clearly unconstitutional” and “a flawed law.”

Copy at the link.

Terryann keep sucking up…hint they are still after your money and your rights.

This is the best Obama dress.

Must be nice when she can wear a $1500 dress when many of her husbands voters make that much or less in a month.

Oh and she took part in politics.

She is fair game when it comes to such charges and discussions.

I think Allahpundit and Ed have explained before. Search the archives.

terryannonline on December 28, 2009 at 9:06 PM

You are the one that made the accusation. Don’t ask us to search the archives to find justification for your projections. Her skin is black. So What. That doesn’t change the fact that she is a giant beast. Julia Child was a similarly built, distinctly unfeminine woman. Julia knew it. Michelle Obama engages her spin machine daily to project herself as petite. Give us an effin break.

I think that Hotair should ban you permanently for tossing out racist accusations. We have to put up with that crap from the MSN and Congress. We shouldn’t have to put up with it here also.

azkenreid on December 28, 2009 at 10:03 PM

I think it is pretty clear that comments like that are intended to dehumanize black people. And that is racist.

terryannonline on December 28, 2009 at 9:15 PM

So if I don’t buy the fact that Michelle My Bell is oh so beautiful like all the ladies mags say, which she’s not, is that somehow dehumanizing too? She wears terrible dresses, her husband dresses like a slob and they’re both angry and aren’t really interested in helping people out, they (more specifically Barack) want more control over our lives…so is pointing that out is wrong or “dehumanizing”?

Interesting no comment on the fact that she wears very expensive clothing while her husband goes after the “rich” Wipe your chins.

Vntnrse on December 28, 2009 at 10:59 PM

Following the Fashionista principle of dressing to enhance your good points and disguise the bad, one really must sympathize with the FLOTUS’ need to wear children’s high-waisted, billow-skirted dresses because that is the only fashion style that covers (barely) her bloated (pot)belly and rhino butt.

Mojamaiko on December 28, 2009 at 11:01 PM

YUCK!

Just as the media are trying to convince us that Obamarxist is the best thing to happen to America, they are also trying to convince us that Michelle Antoinette is a stunning, gorgeous woman.

I have eyes. Both are so untrue.

Little secret: lots of black women don’t like the First Lady. We know an bad attitude when we see one. :)

Most of the black women I know are all like: “What’s she got to be PO’d about?”

I will count myself in that number. I get ticked when people get blessed and don’t appreciate it. I’m betting God isn’t too happy with an ungrateful spirit either–as a matter of fact I’m sure of it.

I don’t think it ridiculous to compare Michelle’s style to Jackie O. Many outfits that Michelle wears remind of Jackie O.

If you don’t like the orange dress, that is fine. It is matter of taste. I happen to like it.
