Choose the Obamateurism of the Year: flight 3
posted at 8:05 am on December 23, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
We’ve been highlighting the amateurish stumbles of our new President since March, and now it’s time for Hot Air readers to pick the Obamateurism of the Year! Over the next few days, I’ll offer polls in different brackets (or “flights”) of previous Obamateurism of the Week winners, and you’ll pick the winners between five or six selections in a new poll each day, except Christmas. I also hand-selected a few second-place winners in a second-chance bracket, which will run next week. After we’ve narrowed down to eight finalists, Hot Air readers will select the OOTY!
Now we have two finalists: the bow to Saudi King Abdullah, and Obama’s warning on deficits in the middle of the biggest spending spree by any administration outside of FDR. Which will be the third Obamateurism to join them? This is only going to get tougher. Cast your vote today, and be sure to keep coming back each day for each new flight of OOTWs:
Next year, we should add a bathing suit and talent competitions …

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

tough call on this list, good job Ed!
picked #1 because it’s all about the ‘O’
and we all know how Iran feels about dear leader and the US

There is so much fodder for elections in 2010, I’m salivating.
“In their own words” campaign ads are the best, and there will be plenty of that to go around for the right to use agains the fascists.

Obama uses union and DNC plants at health-care town hall
A$$hat.
OmahaConservative on December 23, 2009 at 8:11 AM
I think the Cairo speech reference became a running gag that nearly rivaled the recent “B+” faux pas. Once again, though, I use as my guide “What if W had done it?” So I went with how Seward’s Folly became Obama’s.
apostic on December 23, 2009 at 8:13 AM
I had to go with the Cairo speech because it so perfectly sums up the arrogance of the man.
Besides, planting questions at town halls really was less of a goof than it was inartfully executed. He should have thrown a real question or two in with the carefully crafted questions with all the right genders, races and species asking just the question that the propaganda machine wanted them to ask down to the stupid little girl asking about “mean people.” The only real OOTD to come out of it all was the guy who forgot what question he was supposed to ask and the President essentially prompting him to ask about Medicaid.
highhopes on December 23, 2009 at 8:18 AM
I voted for the first one. Obama’s narcissism is the foundation for his other acts of stupidity.
pugwriter on December 23, 2009 at 8:19 AM
Using plants (either questions or at meetings) is more sneaky/crooked than amaturistic. Saluting another country’s flag and crotch-grabbing at our own is more a reflection of his loyalty. Giving himself credit for world peace after a speech of his is him believing his own press releases, so I went with Alaska (and in 2012 I think I’ll have a lot of company)
DrAllecon on December 23, 2009 at 8:19 AM
I had to go with the plants at the town hall…. the greenhouse town hall, I believe it was called.
Had to gin up support back then, probably couldn’t even get them to do it now.
tru2tx on December 23, 2009 at 8:20 AM
Yes, Obama has a bathing suit.
Shy Guy on December 23, 2009 at 8:21 AM
I went with #1, but there were a couple of choices I didn’t remember the details of (Ghana, Alaska).
Apparently, the One has goofed so often I can’t keep up with all of them!

Great! I can’t wait to see Michelle in a one-piece leopard print!
SouthernGent on December 23, 2009 at 8:23 AM
It would be nice if you could include links to the original stories or videos.. Ther have been so many gaffes by this fool I can’t keep them all straight!
swanzoid on December 23, 2009 at 8:26 AM
Went with “Obviously, after the speech I made in Cairo” because, like cmsinaz said, with Giggles it’s all about me me Me ME!!!
crazy_legs on December 23, 2009 at 8:27 AM
Have got to go with #1. It reveals the inner thinking of the man about himself. Narcissistic in the greatest sense. His whole being revolves around himself, and he is deaf to criticism, as witnessed by how he continually plows on with speeches and press conferences that are boringly the same.
In that sense, he has become a tiring figure. People are genuinely sick of him and his teleprompter and his endless droning.
Don’t go away mad Mr. President, just go away!
donh525 on December 23, 2009 at 8:36 AM
You really need to be more specific next time.

Michell Obama, of course. She’s sooooo hot!
SouthernGent on December 23, 2009 at 8:45 AM
It is all about him exemplified by his brainless atatement that one overseas speech changed a deadly situation. As the alarm went off this morning the healthcare bill was being touted as the greatest thing since Obama because of Obama blah blah blah.
They are going to Obama themselves right into oblivion.

I missed the salute to Ghana flag. Is there a link?
ctmom on December 23, 2009 at 8:49 AM
Me too. Seems to be the one out of them all that would most directly affect the nation.

While I had to vote for the Cairo Speech,I sincerely hope the Ghana flag salute stays in everyone’s mind.

I went with #3 because it is about the Chicag”O” way.
OldeSCfan on December 23, 2009 at 8:55 AM
All of these flights are full of good (bad) ones….but the final vote will be “Shout out” I predict. Nothing more egregious and stomach turning than that one…

Brain…..paralyzed.
donh525 on December 23, 2009 at 9:00 AM
I went with joking about Alaska with Russia. His other “gaffes” appear to be calculated because of vanity or hidden motive. The joke appears to be the idiocy that comes out of the mouth of someone trying “to be cool” when they know they’re out of their depth. And can there be any doubt that he is out of his depth when dealing with the real “communists and socialists”?
texabama on December 23, 2009 at 9:05 AM
Well, we’ve already seen Obummer in a bathing suit (many, many times, unfortunately). And the talent segment would be extremely brief for him.

Bruno Rondriguez of Cuba was right, Dear Leader is Arrogant and undemocratic. He wants us to think the Muslim world is actually listening to him. And they care enough to change their 1000 year old pattern. I voted for the Cairo speech.
InTheBellyoftheBeast on December 23, 2009 at 9:14 AM
Why? Afraid to see Obama has no balls?
Cybergeezer on December 23, 2009 at 9:15 AM
If you think I’m watching a 6,432 hour long campaign ad, you’re crazy :-)
A vote here for the Cairo monotologue.

Everyday it becomes more apparent why Obumbler never released any of his school transcripts.

Yikes- I think we need a run=off with the run-off lists. This one was tough.

Controling the pravda citizens receive via planted questions should get more votes.
AnotherOpinion on December 23, 2009 at 10:48 AM
Obama planting DNC and union people at a faux town hall was predictable enough. But thinking people wouldn’t catch on: priceless!
Still, #1 is a worthy winner, even if I did have to select option #3.
tom on December 23, 2009 at 10:55 AM
I actually enjoyed the president’s joke about Alaska as a rare thumb in the eye to someone other than a close ally. While he was at it, he should’ve commented something like “Gosh, that deal seemed to crumble faster than the Berlin Wall.”
(When I saw this one on the list, my initial fear was that the foreign-policy novice joked about selling Alaska to Russia.)
It’s just a bunch of anti-czar sentiment from those neo-commies, anyway. (Not that Alexander II’s mistakes could ever compare with Soviet oppression.)
I’ll take Number 1, please.
cackcon on December 23, 2009 at 11:12 AM
I had to go with the Cairo speech remark. He really seems to believe he can change the world just by giving speeches. I guess that’s why he gives so danged many of them.

We need another category. One would be the current obamaturism for thinkgs like saluting the Ghana flag. (That’s just stupididty) Another called a$$tastic. You know for those change happened because I spoke and planting question situations.

Only way Obama wins is if Michael Moore and Janet Reno are allowed to enter. Imagine Michael Moore in a speedo and Janet Reno in a two piece thong bikini … now reach for the barf bag before you get it all over your keyboard.
