Grayson: Imprison my critic for five years!
posted at 9:00 am on December 19, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL), better known these days as Congressman STFU, suddenly has discovered a sensitivity to the “senseless and juvenile.” When a Republican in Florida outside his district started a website with the domain name mycongressmanisnuts.com, Grayson went … well, nuts:
Not everyone thinks imitation is the best form of flattery.
In fact, U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson of Orlando took such offense at a parody website aimed at unseating him that the freshman Democrat has asked that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder investigate the Lake County activist who started the anti-Grayson website “mycongressmanisnuts.com.”
Specifically, Grayson accuses Republican activist Angie Langley of lying to federal elections. His four-page complaint highlights the fact that the Clermont resident lives outside his district, but that Langley still uses the term “my” in “mycongressmanisnuts.com.”
“Ms. Langley has deliberately masqueraded as a constituent of mine, in order to try to create the false appearance that she speaks for constituents who don’t support me,” writes Grayson. “[She] has chosen a name for her committee that is utterly tasteless and juvenile.”
Grayson’s office did not respond with comment other than to confirm the letter exists — including its request that Langley be fined and “imprisoned for five years.”
Just five years? Why doesn’t Grayson just demand that Holder chop off her head? After all, that’s the remedy that royalty and nobility usually demand. (Drawing and quartering went out of fashion a while back, although Braveheart did its best to bring it back into vogue.)
Politico’s Josh Krasuhaar notes the particular irony of Grayson demanding to be treated with decorum:
It’s awfully ironic that Grayson is demanding to silence one of his critics, given his history of red-meat rhetoric against a host of powerful Republicans. Earlier this month, he told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews he wished Dick Cheney would “STFU.”
Earlier in the year, Grayson referred to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh as a “has-been hypocrite loser” who “was more lucid when he was a drug addict.”
It seems that Grayson belongs to that pusillanimous clique of blowhards who can dish it out, but shriek like scared schoolgirls when one of the hoi polloi dare dish it right back to him. Perhaps Grayson doesn’t realize that he doesn’t live in Elizabethan England, where the lords can have the serfs locked up for ridiculing their masters, but in America, where citizens have the right to criticize politicians — even to parody and satire them. Criticism is especially necessary for the likes of Grayson, where satire may just be redundant anyway.
Besides, this little outburst proves Langley largely correct. Grayson has to have a screw loose somewhere to send a letter to the Attorney General demanding prosecution and a prison sentence because someone’s making fun of him. If you can’t stand the heat, Congressman, then heed your own advice and STFU.

Grayson is stone-cold creepy; living next to guy with those crazy eyes would have me carrying a gun 24/7 and keeping the kids indoors at all times.
“Imprisoned for five years”….apparently the congressman doesn’t understand that we normally have trials for our citizens before confining them to prison.

Perhaps he’s so vain that he’s upset that the site wasn’t named mycongressman.alangrayson.isnuts. After all most people would just assume that they were talking about any congressman, especially theirs!

He can KMA too.

I looked on a map for Clermont. Grayson’s main complaint with Langley is that she doesn’t actually live in the District, though her site says “mycongressmanisnuts.com.”
Guess what? Clermont is a stone’s throw away from the district line. It’s literally on the friggin’ district line.
And I’m sure Langley has other friends who are involved in her group that actually do live within the district boundaries.
Major Fail for Grayson all around, but particularly on his geography argument.

IMHO: I don’t care what state these people represent if they are in charge of enacting laws and legislation that affect ALL AMERICANS, then ALL AMERICANS have the right to voice their opinions and have their questions answered by all of them.
When they say things like “I work for the people of…” it’s a BS copout. Everything they do affects ALL OF US. Therefore, they do not just “work of the people of…”, they work for all of us. Period!

Dem coworker was going on about Ginny Brown-Waite and how awful she is the other day. I commented that I’ve heard her speak twice and thought she was OK (she speaks at our local tea parties). Dem coworker sarcastically commented that she must have good speechwriters then. Brought up the fact that her husband was caught running around stealing political yard signs supporting her first opponent.
OK, so I admitted I should check into her a little more before the next elections.
Then I asked, “Yeah, but what do you think about this idiot Grayson over in Orlando?”
“Who?”
Dr. ZhivBlago on December 19, 2009 at 9:32 AM
If Ms. Angie Langley is not a constituent then how is Rep. Grayson able to prosecute her?
Me thinks, I smell something fishy here. Rep.(hummmmmm!) based on the moniker of Rep. before their name are liberal members of Congress trying to imply they are Republicans but do not have the nuts to say it. After all, when corresponding with them they are addressed as Honorable (loosely in many cases)Congress(man, woman, or person) or Senator.

I predict that by 2010 we’ll have heard enough insanity from Grayson that he’ll be defeated.

When folks like Al Hastings and William Jefferson – among others – do “their thing” and get re-elected time after time, one has to wonder just who is casting (and counting!) the votes in those districts….or are those people just insane?
But, then again, Ted Kennedy killed a woman and six months later got 70% of the Massachusetts vote for re-election. Go figure.

He’s a PERFECT example that our country’s politicians have lost sight why they’re serving in office.

Apparently our modern elected officials missed that memo and the constitution.
The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, to serve their term(s), then go home back to work as an ordinary citizen.

My guess is that his parents or sponsors worshiped him and everyone else in his circle was too intimidated to tell him that he’s not the only one on the planet with a high IQ – and even if he were, common sense and basic civility often trump brain power, especially when you want to get something done in Washington. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say reelection isn’t in this idiot’s future. There’s only so much Florida residents will put up with. Remember the old Pace salsa commercial where the cowboys ’round the fire found out the salsa their friend gave them was from “New York City”? The reply was “get a rope”. That’s not too far from how people here think. Not too out of line when you’ve got Ted Bundys,Eileen Wournos, Casey Anthonys running around. It’s called thinning the herd. And by the way, the comment somewhere above called for drawing and quartering. Some of the finest horses in the world are bred less than an hour away from Orlando in Ocala. This makes me think of the Bush years when the irrational left would screech about Bush shredding the Constitution or taking away rights, yet never could pinpoint that happening (unless you were aiding or an actual TERRORIST of course).
Now you have the irrationals in full blown mode and they don’t care what they do, but their ignorant acolytes and followers who can’t make a move without watching MSNBC or be told what to think or read about the latest politically correct terms they need to memorize, now have no problems with their party actually trying to shred said Constitution.
Morons like Grayson are just pandering to their moronic base, unfortunately for them, their playbook written by Uncle Saul is failing them big time. They may get some things they’d been hoping for, but the price they will pay will be enormous.
StevefromMKE on December 19, 2009 at 10:38 AM
I know how you feel. The health care I was qualified to buy after 33 years of military service would have cost about 4000 or so for a year. Tri-Care Prime and Delta Dental. I worked my life for that. I have to pay 4 times that amount if this bill really does go through.
You know the sad part though. I actually thought Ben Nelson was standing on principle about abortion. Just another crook.
There is not a single elected official in the Democratic Party that deserves the respect protocol is supposed to afford them.
