Grayson: Imprison my critic for five years!

posted at 9:00 am on December 19, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL), better known these days as Congressman STFU, suddenly has discovered a sensitivity to the “senseless and juvenile.”  When a Republican in Florida outside his district started a website with the domain name mycongressmanisnuts.com, Grayson went … well, nuts:

Not everyone thinks imitation is the best form of flattery.

In fact, U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson of Orlando took such offense at a parody website aimed at unseating him that the freshman Democrat has asked that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder investigate the Lake County activist who started the anti-Grayson website “mycongressmanisnuts.com.”

Specifically, Grayson accuses Republican activist Angie Langley of lying to federal elections. His four-page complaint highlights the fact that the Clermont resident lives outside his district, but that Langley still uses the term “my” in “mycongressmanisnuts.com.”

“Ms. Langley has deliberately masqueraded as a constituent of mine, in order to try to create the false appearance that she speaks for constituents who don’t support me,” writes Grayson. “[She] has chosen a name for her committee that is utterly tasteless and juvenile.”

Grayson’s office did not respond with comment other than to confirm the letter exists — including its request that Langley be fined and “imprisoned for five years.”

Just five years?  Why doesn’t Grayson just demand that Holder chop off her head?  After all, that’s the remedy that royalty and nobility usually demand.  (Drawing and quartering went out of fashion a while back, although Braveheart did its best to bring it back into vogue.)

Politico’s Josh Krasuhaar notes the particular irony of Grayson demanding to be treated with decorum:

It’s awfully ironic that Grayson is demanding to silence one of his critics, given his history of red-meat rhetoric against a host of powerful Republicans. Earlier this month, he told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews he wished Dick Cheney would “STFU.”

Earlier in the year, Grayson referred to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh as a “has-been hypocrite loser” who “was more lucid when he was a drug addict.”

It seems that Grayson belongs to that pusillanimous clique of blowhards who can dish it out, but shriek like scared schoolgirls when one of the hoi polloi dare dish it right back to him.  Perhaps Grayson doesn’t realize that he doesn’t live in Elizabethan England, where the lords can have the serfs locked up for ridiculing their masters, but in America, where citizens have the right to criticize politicians — even to parody and satire them.  Criticism is especially necessary for the likes of Grayson, where satire may just be redundant anyway.

Besides, this little outburst proves Langley largely correct.  Grayson has to have a screw loose somewhere to send a letter to the Attorney General demanding prosecution and a prison sentence because someone’s making fun of him.  If you can’t stand the heat, Congressman, then heed your own advice and STFU.

What an absolute nutcase. It will be interesting to see if his district fires him. Anybody know when this schizophrenic is up for reelection?

Grayson won’t last long in congress….well you wouldn’t think so.

Who knows.

Spathi on December 19, 2009 at 9:31 AM

Brilliant satire.

He’s just as looney as his aslymum-mate from Florida, Robert Wexler. And Wexler has been making a flamin’ jackass out of himself in the House since 1997.

You obviously missed Wex’s buffoonery on full display during the Clenis impeachment hearings. He was almost as hilarious as Clinton himself. And more recently, Wexler co-signed Dennis the Menace’s Articles of Impeachment against Chimpy Bush.

Wexler’s already lasted 12 years. Grayson can too.

Del Dolemonte on December 19, 2009 at 11:15 AM

What do you mean he murdered a girl. Seriously?

Grayson needs to have his ba**s cutoff and handed to him, along with a note, telling him to continue his rantings, only now in a Falsetto voice.
In regards to a previous post about this loser and Stuart Smalley from Minnesotta, I agree that the people of these states should be embarassed about their lack of sanity for electing these two fools. I’ve already erased Minn. from my wall map. After Jesse the Body and then Franken, good Lord, “how blind can they be,” to quote a great song lyric.

I don’t even think this guy wants to stay in Congress. I think he wants to be the anti-Palin and make a lot of money on the Left. He may be nuts or he may be just serving up heaps of red meat to hit the nutroots up for some real cash in about a year as their “champion”.

He strikes me as a possible self-serving Jesse Jackson type looking for a payoff by hating the right people.

Conan on December 19, 2009 at 3:57 PM

Grayson is the personification of the bad-guy politician you’d see on a network cop show. Nasty, oily, belligerent.

A guy of this character (or lacking thereof) must have some dirt that could be dug up on him. I can’t imagine that one would have to dig deep.

Former Keller Aide Explains Grayson’s 2008 Win
Charles Nelson

With Grayson’s erratic behavior has also been seen as a growing embarrassment to the Democratic establishment. New York Congressman Anthony Weiner was quoted by Politico as saying that his colleague was “one fry short of a happy meal.” Other Democrats, including New Jersey Rep Bill Pascrell have criticized Grayson’s outlandish behavior.

After Grayson’s latest outburst became public, former Keller aide Johann Kipling told the Saint Petersburg Times that the 2008 Keller campaign had unearthed curious inconsistencies in Grayson’s professional career.

Kipling stated that while Grayson touted that he was a respected economist he had actually failed an economics course in his sophomore year. In addition, some of Grayson’s senior papers were accused of widespread plagiarism.

In addition, Kipling stated that Grayson’s campaign had a glaring omission. During 1988, when

Grayson had just turned thirty and while working for the Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson law firm, he spent four days in the Psychiatric Institute of Washington. What the cause of this stay was is yet unclear, although testimony from co-workers suggests that Grayson was extremely combative with fellow employees, including slapping a female intern in the face. Grayson was released after PIW doctors declared him “not to be a threat to the public.”

Saying is nuts is not false, scandalous, or malicious, its a matter of fact!
