Aw: Communists march for climate justice or whatever in Copenhagen

posted at 6:56 pm on December 17, 2009 by Allahpundit

A fair representation of the global-warmist contingent? Eh, probably not. But that question never troubled the left when they went hunting for offensive signs at tea-party rallies. Let’s just say for now that the jury’s out.

Or is it? Via Omri Ceren, the excruciating Sullivan-esque lyricism spilling from AGW wise man George Monbiot these days sounds more red than green:

This is the moment at which we turn and face ourselves. Here, in the plastic corridors and crowded stalls, among impenetrable texts and withering procedures, humankind decides what it is and what it will become. It chooses whether to continue living as it has done, until it must make a wasteland of its home, or to stop and redefine itself. This is about much more than climate change. This is about us…

The angry men know that this golden age has gone; but they cannot find the words for the constraints they hate. Clutching their copies of Atlas Shrugged, they flail around, accusing those who would impede them of communism, fascism, religiosity, misanthropy, but knowing at heart that these restrictions are driven by something far more repulsive to the unrestrained man: the decencies we owe to other human beings…

But somehow this first great global battle between expanders and restrainers must be won and then the battles that lie beyond it – rising consumption, corporate power, economic growth – must begin. If governments don’t show some resolve on climate change, the expanders will seize on the restrainers’ weakness. They will attack – using the same tactics of denial, obfuscation and appeals to self-interest – the other measures that protect people from each other, or which prevent the world’s ecosystems from being destroyed. There is no end to this fight, no line these people will not cross. They too are aware that this a battle to redefine humanity, and they wish to redefine it as a species even more rapacious than it is today.

Money line: “I lead a mostly peaceful life, but my dreams are haunted by giant aurochs.” Meanwhile, today at the conference, the “expanders” offered to launch a fund that would raise $100 billion a year for the “restrainers,” which is more than all current aid to poor nations annually. Who’ll be footing the bill is as yet unclear, but I’m guessing the fact that skepticism about man-made global warming has now reached 50 percent among likely voters isn’t going to spare Americans from paying our “fair share.”

Rest easy, though. The only man who can save the world will be there soon.

Update: I think the jury’s coming in.

President Chavez brought the house down.

When he said the process in Copenhagen was “not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world, the world is really and imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships” he got a rousing round of applause.

When he said there was a “silent and terrible ghost in the room” and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was deafening.

Blowback

Wasn’t this the point to the conference and the whole “climate change” shebang from the start?

Global warming is a hoax. Kyoto is a scam. All the work thus far has been a waste. Pure and simple.

Now, if I may, I’m going to pat myself on the back for rejecting this obvious scam from the start.

One difference being that Bush-Obama TARP socialism not only saved many US banks from collapsing the way of WaMu and Lehman, but also generated a nice profit for the US public. Would we be better off if the panic had been left to spread without government interference?

“JUSTICE” = liberal code word for redistribution of wealth. Whenever leftists talk “________ justice” they mean socialism.

“Social justice” means redistributing wealth from the upper and middle class productive people to Democrat welfare recipients and lazeabouts.

“environmental justice” means redistributing wealth from wealthy productive nations to socialist countries that have run out of other peoples money to spend.

The communist Obama adviser, Van Jones, also talked of “greening” the Criminal Justice system, which basically amounted to letting criminals out of jail and redistributing wealth to them.

Im sure there are more examples of lefties talking about “justice” when what they really mean is redistribution of wealth.

Holger on December 17, 2009 at 7:46 PM

Let me get this straight?

The great evil, the “terrible ghost” is capitalism.

All these piss-ant little countries meeting in Copenhagen have one primary goal, they want money, lots and lots of money, and they want it from the U.S.A. Why? Because we are RICH, RICH, RICH and we use too much of the world’s resources that should be saved for those who still shit in their streets and carry water on their heads.

So, exactly where do all those RICH RICH RICHES!!! come from? Where does the great Satan America get the money to pay off all these mewling sqawling little annoyances?

Dare we say it? From its – shhh -(capitalist) economy.

OH NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

P.S. Hey! I know how to save the planet – really!

We simply allow all those people who are stupid enough to cheer at lines like those uttered by Chavez, to be put out of their misery. Then they won’t be so tormented by “terrible ghosts” and “great satans”, the planet will have fewer people to ruin it and all will be good with the world.

Chavez and all his enablers ought to be dragged to the nearest lamp posts and hung by their own intestines.

Socialism is anathema to freedom, it impales the individual upon velvet fangs, and holds him aloft, his life slowly draining from him, and then tosses the lifeless body aside to make room for the next in line.

No thinking, feeling, reasoning human can ever consider socialism as anything other than the spawn of evil. We must all fight against it, or it will kill us all.

My 10,456,009 lines of code computer model shows a sea level rise of 4.384726 feet (+/- 0.000024 feet) by 0925 GMT June 11, 2024 (+/- 11.456009 minutes).

I didn’t factor in Pluto officially being classified as a non-planet but I will make an adjustment for that later, then I will be able to be more precise.

One difference being that DemocratBush-Obama TARP socialism not only saved many US banks from collapsing the way of WaMu and Lehman, but also generated a nice profit for the US public. Would we be better off if the panic had been left to spread without government interference?

bayam on December 17, 2009 at 7:14 PM

Perhaps you can point out to me where the profit is in our collective wallets, or perhaps who he gave it away to? While you at it, make sure you subtract from this alleged profit all the wasted spending Obama and the Democrats have done. And while you on the subject of saving the collasped banks, explain how the Democrats forceing those banks to make high risk loans did not cause the houseing bubble that began this financial nightmare. Keep in mind that banks that refused to make the loans, alleged as well to be secured by the government, faced an assortment punishments Answer the questions of; if the banks had not made loans to people that normally would not meet the requirements of finacial stablabilty and percentage of free income to make the payment in addtion to a portion of the cost of the home purchase price, would there have been a financial collaspe of the banking industry because of risky loans that failed? Did applying the socialist principal that everyone deserved the opprotunity to be given a mortage loan benifit our country or those that found a mortage payment was not the same as renting and now have less opprotunity to secure a loan, for example a car loan at a fair rate of intrest?

Seeing this demonstation by the socialist was no surprise. They are desperate of being so close to achieving what they need to succeed and fearing that it is about to be snatched from their claws.

At one time there was published on the CPUSA’s web site a plank of political inititives. The green inititive was listed. IT was stated that corportations could be forced to reduce their carbon immisions causing them finacial hardships. Once that was done they would be forced to pay for any environment cleanup that was determined to have been done by them. In this way the large corporations could be broken and replaced with smaller companies more suited to the socialist and communist control.

If you read their current goals, at least as publist during Obama’s campain the green inititive was still there, without the additional goals that would be derived from it.

And interesting note is that if you compared Obama’s platform during his campaigning to the CPUSA, it was almost Identical to that of the Communist Party USA.

If you really want to know what he is trying to do, it is all right there and in the history of their goals as instilled in him by Frank Davis.

Franklyn on December 17, 2009 at 8:46 PM

That lot – AT BEST – is a bunch of useful idiots for proponents of a completely failed ideology. Top-down involuntary socialism was, is, and always will be an utter flop wherever it is tried.

You’d have better luck with the system of monarchy, and that’s really saying something!

I think Hillary just threw out the $100B to placate the masses and let them think they’re getting something for all their time and trouble in going to Copenhagen. Just words and no action up next on the stage.

This is a good time for me to repost my essay on the movement behind the movement of environmentalism:

The most disturbing, and most indictable, of the global cooling deniers arguments of imminent doom, is that they WANT it to be true. There’s the rub. They tell us we are dooming ourselves, but at the same time, they want this doom to be reality. If you suggest a quick solution to global warming, as science would suggest, say by pumping sulfur dioxide into the air, rather than being met with hope that such doom can be averted, it is met with anger. That is not the solution they have in mind. Suggest, similarly, through scientific analysis that global warming is not even happening, and rather than being interested in a new turn of events, they react with anger. Suggest, similarly, through historical perspective, that a warmer planet has actually been beneficial to civilization, as it was during the Medieval warm period, but rather than being met with relief, it is met with anger.

So you see the problem. It’s not that they are at all concerned with global warming. If they were, they would, as humans are apt to do, latch on to any possible promise of salvation, legitimate or not. But they don’t. They do the opposite of what one who was legitimately concerned would do. They react with derision and anger to any scenario that does not mean our imminent doom if that scenario does not include massive taxes and restructuring of our political world and global economy.

What does this tell you? It tells me they hope global warming is not only true, but they hope it is dangerous, and they hope it is not only dangerous, but they hope it is unstoppable short of any scenario that necessitates the most economic and social adjustments possible. In short, they hope a fear of global warming will act as a catalyst for the social change they want the Western world to undergo, change they wish it would have undergone a long time ago for ideological reasons, but hasn’t – a sea change of political and economic priorities – the death of capitalism.

If you remove the threat of global warming from the world, that change will never come for them. And thus the anger. This explains why almost all believers in global warming are from the Left – from famous politicians, to famous writers, famous celebrities, academia, all the way down to the scientists and researchers whose cars sport the bumper stickers right out of Woodstock. Remove the existence of the threat in one fashion or another, and you remove the reason why the world needs to dump capitalism.

Up until about 1990-91, when the narrative for global warming started circling, those on the Left looked to the Soviet Union as a counterbalancing force against the West. For them, there was a balance in the political universe. An equally powerful superpower with very different underlying social and political structure kept capitalism at bay. When the Soviet Union collapsed, however, and the narrative was being written that communism had finally officially failed, that balance was lost. Capitalism was triumphant which meant that those who saw a fundamental threat from that system now had no where to turn to. The great counterbalancing force to western imperialism was lost.

Fortunately, a deus ex machine arrived within months of Francis Fukyama’s seminal, and since debunked, article about the End of History in which he lamented that the world was doomed to peaceful boredom as the great struggles, including that of the cold war, were now over that capitalism and democracy had won.

That salvation, for those on the Left, was the CO2 theory, a theory of global warming due to emissions, a theory that conveniently popped into existence immediately after the fall of the Soviet Union and shortly after the global cooling theory, also due to emissions, died in the ’80s, a theory to which any kid who went to public school, and watched classroom films, in the ’70s can attest.

Now the deceased Soviet Union was replaced as the counterbalancing force with something much more politically correct. Forget Stalin and Lenin and Marx. Championing them was always a hard sell in the prosperous west. Only radicals went that far. And you couldn’t sell it in the schools. Think climate, however. Now, as they new narrative was written, capitalism wasn’t bad for the Worker, but it was bad for the Planet. And since everybody lives on the planet, best we do something about capitalism which is, once again, fortunately, bad for everybody.

Of course capitalism, per se, was not mentioned directly, that’s much too political. Capitalism was replaced by the word “emissions”. Not the pollution that comes out of your tailpipe. That was the global cooling theory due to airborne particulates that the ’70s Left championed. No, this was much more insidious. This was the formally innocuous and ubiquitous gas of carbon dioxide. That way, not only were cars destructive, but anything that uses energy, including your use of electricity in your home. It was a theory that could vilify the entire western world economic and political system as being dangerous due, not just to its size, but its hegemony. And since the western world functions and thrives and expands according to energy use and consumer consumption, CO2 demonization can now serve as the antithesis of that hegemony.

All that one would have to do is find some convoluted way to link CO2 to something bad. That way, one is not fighting for communism, socialism, or wealth redistribution – one is fighting a totally apolitical fight simply for environmental reasons. Claiming that CO2 not only warms the planet, but it is specifically the CO2 coming from man that is doing it, cleverly achieves that objective.

Consequently, any argument, scientific or otherwise, that removes CO2 as being a threat to the planet, will not be received well by those who have a vested ideological leaning, if not a financial stake, in believing, and having others believe, that capitalism, consumerism, and individual freedom, need to be adjusted. There’s a lot of people who want to see that kind of change. Always has been, always will be. Global warming theory, they hope, is the catalyst for that change.

In short, Green will be successful in a way that old Red could never be.

They don’t think communism leads to prosperity. They think it leads to the destruction of the middle class, the destruction of religion, and the destruction of personal liberty. For these kinds of people, and every generation produces them, those facets are a feature, not a bug. Their ideals are not the ideals of the common man. Which is fine. Everyone is entitled to their politics.

Or at least it was fine. Communist politics was never a threat before because communism was a dirty word in the west, people stayed away. It was overtly political. However, the global warming movement has put a green face on the old red enemy. They have removed the political language and created a new green language.

Fortunately, there are few shameless examples where they come right out and admit their communism, as we see in this video. Unfortunately, most are not that stupid. They say the right things. They don’t champion Lenin. The champion polar bears as a stand in for Lenin. That is very unfortunate because now useful idiots can be conscripted under the guise of stewardship of the earth while hoodwinking the majority of the public into going along with their “green” schemes.

It was a brilliant move on the part of communists, what they did. Clever. Nicely done.

Put down the books. Proper aiming takes both hands. Not to waste ammo. Or maybe use the books to get stabilized. Target rich environment. On ship it is, “fire as she bears”. Was it Ethan Allen who said, “Fire when you see the whites of their eyes.”?

Sigh, the fascists, anarchists, socialists, idiots and usual suspects have, we hope, only a temporary advantage. With luck, we can have only virtual murder on our conscience.

Meanwhile, our troops in A’stan have a rep. Invincible warriors with magical powers. That is America. Crash and burn Obama and D’rats. The people have “magical powers” too. Logic and preparation are a “Hey Presto!” to those who follow the HOPE.

Battle logic:
HOPE is not a plan
The enemy gets a vote.
