The Ed Morrissey Show: Jim Geraghty, Sean Duffy, Adam Baldwin
posted at 1:00 pm on December 16, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Today, on the Ed Morrissey Show (3 pm ET), we have a great program for you today! Jim Geraghty joins us to give us the Ledge Report for the first hour. Sean Duffy will call and update us on his fundraising effort in his campaign to replace David Obey in Congress — today is his “Strike a Blow for Freedom” day, and Duffy’s trying to create a contribution explosion to launch his effort. Be sure to open your wallets, because Obey’s backers will be opening theirs.
In bonus minutes, I’m excited to welcome Adam Baldwin of Big Hollywood to the show. I’ve been a fan of his work since My Bodyguard and he’s currently appearing on the hit NBC show Chuck, but we’re going to be talking politics today instead of entertainment. We’re going to talk about the history of political correctness, Adam’s thought-provoking post “The Anguish of the Apostate,” the Howard Zinn history on the History Channel, and much, much more. I’ll be doing my homework for today’s show!
Now you can join the conversation in the chat room! Be sure to register at Ustream to participate in our raucous live-chat sessions. Jazz Shaw of The Moderate Voice and The Monster moderate the chat, and they have Troll Gun Trivia Contest running before the show, for those who get there early — and are registered!

I’ve been a fan of Adam Baldwin since My Bodyguard too(saw it in the theaters as a kid), to Full Metal Jacket to Firefly. He’s been writing some excellent articles at Big Hollywood.
Looking forward to the show!

“The hero of Canton! The man they call Jayne!”
Firefly fans will get that reference.

Me too! And we love Chuck and Firefly/Serenity in our house. I am looking forward to hearing from Mr. Baldwin, and your other guests also.

I thought he was great as Animal Mother in FMJ and as the Air Force Major in ID2. Who knew he was writing for Big Hollywood. I guess I need to spend some bandwidth over there too.

Swoon, Adam Baldwin!! :)

I guess I don’t have bandwidth to chat at their site. Everything loads really slow and the page is messed up. Anyway, I’ll try to check out his articles at BH and try to get ahold of one of his books.

Should I be concerned that I just woke up with the Chuck Theme Song running through my head and now I read this?

One of the best scenes from Chuck is when he is doing target practice in his fireplace. He puts bullets into pics of Hitler and Stalin and then pulls up and smiles when the computer puts a picture of Reagan.
In the next episode he gets poisoned by a nerve agent. He grabs a pic of Reagan and says “Sorry sir” and smashes it, revealing an atropine shot.
It must be good fun for him to essentially play himself.
Zach Levi is a very upstanding young man as well.

“Chuck” is one of my favorite shows. Even Mrs. GT can’t wait for the new season to start and she hates TV.

Must’ve been doing statist math…
Abby Adams, winner of the quote competition so far, I reckon.

I remember Baldwin as Stillman in Ordinary People. He was the meathead on the swim team who got his a** kicked by Conrad Jarrett (Timothy Hutton) after Stillman gave Conrad some flak about getting in Jeannine Pratt’s pants. Elizabeth McGovern was cute as hell as Jeannine, and Baldwin played a great meathead.

“Jayne! The man they called Jayne!”
I had no idea that Baldwin had his head on so straight. After being disappointed so many times by the likes of Harrison Ford and Arnold Schwarzenegger I kinda quit bothering to find out what goes through their heads.

If you are in the 25-45 age range and/or are a gamer and/or are attracted to beautiful Aussie women you are really missing out if you don’t watch Chuck.
That said, there goes Baldwin’s career right down the toilet.

Usually don’t care to hear actors express their political views, but Adam Baldwin is pretty darn impressive.
Erich66 on December 16, 2009 at 4:35 PM
Big damned hero.
Got a Ma Cobb hat myself, and love it.
UncleOlaf on December 16, 2009 at 4:46 PM
That was excellent!
Hope to see Adam back on the show with other members of the Chuck cast sometime next year.
I wonder if Yvonne Strahovski can speak about the stuff that went on in Poland that her parents and family experienced dealing with Communism and its aftermath – Lech Wałęsa and Solidarity and all that?
JaqobJackson on December 16, 2009 at 4:53 PM
It was always great fun when Adam showed up on the Firefly discussion boards and made the Liberals’ heads spin round like great big spinny things. Glad he found a home for his very considerable skills in articulating conservative ideas and ideals.

How is it that Voyager lasted 7 seasons and Firefly only one?

The Hero Of Canton is much smarter than I’d first thought.
Lots of great comments to!

adam baldwin!
he is an alumnus of my old high school (so is john stossel!). and “my bodyguard” is one of those movies (along with other chicago flicks like “blues brothers”, “risky business” and every john hughes flick) that holds a special place in my heart from my childhood.
and how weird is it that, in my AP US history course at said high school, we were actually made to read zinn’s “people’s history”…
what a bizarre coincidence. i will have to read big hollywood more often and look for his writing there…
