Video: Global-warming skeptic, like, totally pwn3d by true believers

posted at 10:03 pm on December 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

A late-evening palate cleanser via Breitbart. At first it annoyed me, then I laughed at the sheer self-satisfied stupidity of the prank, and then I admired it as emblematic of the flame-war level of discourse between the two sides. Monckton himself broke Godwin’s law the other day when confronting a few disciples of Gaia, and of course we’ve seen scientists from East Anglia call skeptics A-holes on British national television, so why not take it in the direction of “kick me” signs on people’s backs? Exit question: How should Monckton retaliate? With water balloons, or the old “order 50 pizzas to their house” gag?

Blowback

OMG I FEEL SOOOO MUCH BETTER ABOUT MYSELF NOW!
I FOUGHT CLIMATE CHANGE IN MY OWN WIDDLE WIDDLE WAY!

AND PUT FUNKY MUSIC TO IT!

blatantblue on December 15, 2009 at 10:26 PM

Drinkin’ beer in the not any hotter sun
I fought Global Warming and I won
I fought Global Warming and I won

I needed sex and I got mine
I fought Global Warming and I won
I fought Global Warming and I won

Lyrics are the best weapons I’ve ever had
I fought Global Warming and I won
I fought Global Warming and I won

I blew Al’s addled brains out with my 105-gun
I fought Global Warming and I won
I fought Global Warming and I won

MB4 on December 15, 2009 at 11:44 PM

On the subject of Climate Changerists, do you acknowledge that the GREEN movement is a movement that most likely latches onto irrational fears for monetary gain? To be clear, I’m not talking about the local farmer’s market shopper… I’m talking about the Al Gore’s of the world.

MeatHeadinCA on December 15, 2009 at 11:39 PM

Do I think some are in it for money? Sure. But some are simply true believers. Did you see disgust on the female interviewers’ face when she was interviewing Monckton? I think that is all real. She’s a true believer. I don’t think she’s motivated by money. That is my point.

terryannonline on December 15, 2009 at 11:45 PM

Here is one. Many “scientist” fudged climate data and tried to silence the skeptics, to gain or keep government grants; either that or they were just defending their religion.

Johan Klaus on December 15, 2009 at 11:41 PM

Or politicians and world leaders more than willing to use the GREEN movement to gain more power and weaken/destroy the sovereignty of nations such as the US… the list goes on and on but some would just like to clarify that the crazy lady with an Obama sticker on her car isn’t a GREEN-believer just for the money and power…

Yeah… see my last comment. I don’t know of anyone that actually believes that every sucker of the GREEN movement actually is in it for the money and power. If they were, they probably wouldn’t be called suckers.

Does anyone believe that ALL Obama voters want to destroy the Constitution?

MeatHeadinCA on December 15, 2009 at 11:48 PM

You’re always trying to lump conservatives in with liberals.

Well Glenn Beck is always lumping Republicans with Democrats and most (not all) of the commenters don’t seem to mind. I guess since I don’t have a show on Fox News I can’t do that :(

That’s because they’re rapidly becoming different shades of the same paint. Instead of even a 2-party system, we now have a 1 & 1/2 party system where the differences are largely cosmetic.

As I said, the version of AGW being pushed to the public at large is a hodgepodge collection of fabrications and shell games that rival all of Michael Moore’s films put together. On the other hand it is absurd to believe that mankind’s activities have no effect on the weather, but right now I have very few good sources to turn to.

As for my own senses…do remember that I can only exist in one time and at one place. Just because it’s cold where I am at the moment is precious little indicator of the larger trend.

But until I can sort out a couple reliable weather-measuring sources (the recent email hack debacle has struck more than a few from my list), I will admit to being a bit of a ‘lone wolf’ at the moment.

There has been a lot more fluctuation in Arctic and Sub-Arctic temperatures in relatively recent history than you might guess. This is a fact that is not much mentioned in a lot lf AGW material.

The warmest decade in Iceland in the 20th century was the 1930s. How do the temperatures now compare to those of the 1930s? Did the documentary address that question?

Just don’t complain when he’s made fun of like KO.

People simply aren’t into that guy, or the other guy.

They are both just on the fringes.

AnninCA on December 16, 2009 at 12:11 AM

Hmmmm.
KO has about four viewers, including his mother.
Glenn Beck has the second most watched show on cable television and the third most listened to radio show.
You, Ann, are fringe. Leather fringe, you stinky hippy.

Some assembly required.

Dark-Star on December 16, 2009 at 12:13 AM

Did you mean: Glenn Beck

This is what I got… Nothing on this Glen Beck that I keep reading about at HuffPo and scam-facebook pages… Oh, well, I’m sure he exists.

MeatHeadinCA on December 16, 2009 at 12:16 AM

Honestly, I think all of you just need to go vote for whatever right-winger you love.

And be sure they dismiss all evidence about this.

Vote and be happy.

But I sure won’t be voting for any candidate who co-signs this BS.

The rest of us have moved onto solutions. Cap-and-Trade is a tax program, not a solution.

But we aren’t too interested in those who wish to bog down into the defensive stuff about having argued against the reality and been proven wrong.

Luckily, that’s not me.

You wish to stay stuck?

By all means, do so.

Not me.

AnninCA on December 16, 2009 at 12:16 AM

Climate Cultists are adorable when they think they’re clever.

Johan Klaus on December 16, 2009 at 12:21 AM

One needs a television show before one even attempts the facts.

MeatHeadinCA on December 16, 2009 at 12:22 AM

As I said, the version of AGW being pushed to the public at large is a hodgepodge collection of fabrications and shell games that rival all of Michael Moore’s films put together. On the other hand it is absurd to believe that mankind’s activities have no effect on the weather

Dark-Star on December 16, 2009 at 12:12 AM

Then we would seem to be in general agreement.

The debate is not between no global warming (ever) and some tiny bit to a dangerously high amount (which would be a an absolutely ridiculously broad range).

The debate is whether the is little to almost no man caused global warming or whether there is a dangerous to apocalyptic amount and that we can stop it by being subservient, obeying serfs to the Master’s of the Universe Global Warming.

Obviously man causes some warming just by burning things, but I see no reason to think that, even collectively, that significantly raises the global temperature let alone by a dangerous amount.

Put a bag of flaming dog sh*t on their door step and ring the bell. They’ll see the CO2 emitting flames and start stomping before even contemplating what is in the bags.

Solutions to what is a little hazy, but don’t you dare suggest it has anything to do with Social Engineering!

I think they just like giving each other awards. We could probably lower the temperature of the planet 5 degrees just by turing off the food warmers at all those banquets.

Ronnie on December 16, 2009 at 12:31 AM

Ann, you didn’t leave us did you? I thought we were going to spoon to our favorite Beck episodes.

HornetSting on December 16, 2009 at 12:18 AM

And she won’t…facts confuse liberals, and she is confused by this fact.
The FACT that the earth has been several times much warmer then now…and the fact that this is an abnormal cycle since it is not as warm as most of the other occurrences, confounds liberals. The fact that Greenland was once named for what? Being green confuses them…and that ice, even ice in Norway melts with increased solar activity, absolutely confounds liberals.
Facts are really what melts liberals brains…

5-finger wipe WITH the ultra-fiber diet???

MeatHeadinCA on December 16, 2009 at 12:35 AM

At first it annoyed me, then I laughed at the sheer self-satisfied stupidity of the prank, and then I admired it as emblematic of the flame-war level of discourse between the two sides.

To me, it symbolizes the emotional level of the AGW crowd.

Somewhere between the second and fourth grade.
