Quotes of the day

posted at 10:29 pm on December 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

“The federal government quietly agreed to forgo billions of dollars in potential tax payments from Citigroup as part of the deal announced this week to wean the company from the massive taxpayer bailout that helped it survive the financial crisis…

“While the Obama administration has said taxpayers likely will profit from the sale of the Citigroup shares, accounting experts said the lost tax revenue could easily outstrip those profits

“‘The government is consciously forfeiting future tax revenues. It’s another form of assistance, maybe not as obvious as direct assistance but certainly another form,’ said Robert Willens, an expert on tax accounting who runs a firm of the same name. ‘I’ve been doing taxes for almost 40 years and I’ve never seen anything like this where the IRS and Treasury acted unilaterally on so many fronts.’”

***
“Over the weekend, Obama attacked fat-cat investment bankers, telling ’60 Minutes’ he didn’t become president to aid and abet Wall Street — which, only a year after the financial meltdown and taxpayer bailout, is now scheduled to hand out tens of billions of dollars in bonuses to its bankers and traders.

“But the president’s meeting yesterday with the CEOs of the largest banks was nearly a lovefest, I’m told by attendees…

“Said one CEO who attended: ‘I expected to be taken to the woodshed, but the tone was quite the opposite.’

“Said another senior exec with knowledge of the meeting: ‘The whole thing was so telegraphed that not much was accomplished, other than giving Obama a PR stunt… He might have sounded mean on ’60 Minutes,’ but during the meeting he was a hell of a lot nicer.’”

Telegraphed or not, what was the point of the meeting in the first place? What was supposed to come out of the event? This was PR from the beginning to the end and if the filthy lying coward in the White House could have figured out a way to roll a few flag-draped coffins from Afghanistan through the meeting he would have.

What’s that you say……

Obama is just dishing out the talking points he thinks his targeted audience wants to hear and then going back to laugh it up with his Wall St. buddies.

Say it ain’t so!!!!

How could anybody have any idea that Capital Hill would be run this way after all that “Hope and Change” we heard about during the election……

…….Anybody paying attention would have seen this as soon as the tax cheat Geithner was put in charge…you know after being right in the middle of what brought on our economic collapse:

Where Was Geithner in Turmoil?

By ANDREW ROSS SORKIN
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/25/business/25sorkin.html?_r=1&dbk

But Mr. Geithner’s involvement in several ultimately ill-fated efforts to buttress the American financial system is the very reason some Wall Street C.E.O.’s — a number of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of piquing the man who regulates them — question whether he’s up to the challenge.

“We have only two things to say about Tim Geithner, who we do not know: A.I.G. and Lehman Brothers,” said Christopher Whalen of Institutional Risk Analytics. “Throw in the Bear Stearns/Maiden Lane fiasco for good measure,” he said.
“All of these ‘rescues’ are a disaster for the taxpayer, for the financial markets and also for the Federal Reserve System as an organization. Geithner, in our view, deserves retirement, not promotion.”

Ouch.

“He was in the room at every turn of the crisis,” said another executive who participated in several such confidential meetings with Mr. Geithner. “You can look at that both ways.”

Right in the middle.

Just like Jamie Gorlick was right in the middle of the intelligence failures (Gorlick Wall) that kept us from possibly stopping 9/11 but was still put on the 9/11 commission board.

Who better to guide us through all the corruption than someone who was right in the middle of it:

Obama Treasury nominee oversaw Citigroup’s descent into the toilet

posted at 3:59 pm on January 14, 2009 by Allahpundit
http://hotair.com/archives/2009/01/14/obama-treasury-nominee-oversaw-citigroups-descent-into-the-toilet/

Because the Fed conducts much of its work in secret, details about Geithner’s role in the Citigroup debacle remain hidden. But a review of publicly available records shows that the New York Fed, in a key period, relaxed oversight as Citigroup went on a risky spree…

In 2006, Citigroup’s issuances of collateralized debt obligations – securities in which mortgages and other debts are bundled and sold based on risk – grew to $40.9 billion, more than double the prior year. The number of subprime mortgages originated by Citigroup rose 85 percent that year, while other top originators had begun reducing subprime output, Fed data show…

Timmy….Timmy….Timmy…you have been a very bad boy.

While your boss Obama goes around whining about “pitchforks”
and “cleaning up Wall St.” he seems to be totally okay with the fact that you were in charge of relaxing the very regulations you blame Republicans for not enforcing.

Conflict of interest here….not to liberals.

Obama and his main man Timmy making sure their Wall St. friends get taken care of while they carry on about “looking out for main st.” and “holding big business accountable”……
……….no problem with liberals:

Geithner aides made millions on Wall Street

Obama administration officials now working on fixing and regulating the financial system were beneficiaries of several million dollars in pay from Wall Street and private equity companies, it has been revealed.

Obama is neck deep in lobbyist and their money…..

……….Obama puts a man in charge of the Treasury that cheated on his taxes, was right in the middle of the economic collapse, caught lying about whether he knew about the AIG bonuses, and is making millions for his boys on Wall St. and liberals are still whining about Bush.

You know, liberals use to be all about “following the money” when it came time to outing corruption.

Now that liberals are making big money and working on making more…..not so much.

I’m curious about what in Saul Alinsky’s rules indicate Barry should do when his shifting-the-blame-game ceases to have impact. Radicals need to be nimble, right? So, now that the opposition is racist and the opposition is to blame meme’s have lost luster, what’s next? Saul’s principle rule for opposition says: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Barry has already done this ad nauseam, and while it worked pre-election, it’s proving to be ineffectual now.

Barry claimed during the interview that he knew his poll numbers would crater in six months. Whether or not he actually knew, as a consummate know-it-all, is just grist for the insatiable ego mill. It was his cavalier attitude about the poll numbers that was most revealing. Some believe he really doesn’t care about public perception because he’ll still manage to wreak as much havoc as possible before his tenure ends in 2012, and that is, after all, the Alinsky way.

Still, I think he’s too much the narcissist to give up public adoration for the good of the cause. He’s at an impasse—or a catch 22. Follow Saul’s rules and he’ll gain some libsh!t-based legislation, but lose the love.

He probably thinks he’s charming enough to regain the public’s trust even after he assassinates our country with the worst pieces of legislation ever written.

Karl Marx is going to win this war.– Father Coughlin

In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.

Will we, let Marx win?

Poor wittle Bawwy is hurt that so many of his “bought and paid for” pals are picking up their toys, leaving him and his toy cars and trucks all by themselves in his sandbox. Does he have a boo-boo lip? Is he gonna cry?

He’s a funny guy. He’s idea of a free market is giving big companies handouts. No wonder pregressives are turning on him. I predict 40% approvals by mid 2010.

Dreams of my Father II

This “inherited” meme is too Freudian. The One has former resident (lost P deliberate) Bush confused with his father. You know, the guy who took a powder and left a mess for mom and The One?

I got an email from a friend cursing me for a “personal attack” when I mentioned it yesterday. Woe is me.

But BHO senior did leave mom with a mess. She had to fight for health coverage!

The fact that President Bush has more personal quality in his smallest finger than both BHOs and the entire Democrat leadership have in their entire bodies never enters The One’s mind.

This psychodrama could take decades to sort out.

I have com e to believe that Obama lives in mortal fear of rejection. Thus, on “60 Minutes,” for example, where there is no possibility of direct feedback, he’ll say “tough” stuff, but when facing the very people he demeans, in person, he’ll back off, become ingratiating, even out right friendly…just to not have anyone get in his face and say “No!!”

Over the past 11 months, look at the record, it is all out there, Obama makes tough sounding statements, but when compelled to actually address in person, those he criticizes, he backs off. Cuba. Iran. North Korea. Wall Street. The military. American citizens. Time and time again. Same pattern.

Now is indeed the time for all good men (and a hell of a lot of women, too) to come to the aid of their country…and say “No!!!” a lot more, and a lot more often.

Simple word. Conveys a wealth of meaning.

Just say “No!!!” to Obama.

Watch him fold. Crumble.

I will not watch that clip. This is the first president I have ever lived through…that I can not watch and listen to. I did not agree with a lot of the things former presidents did, but I could stand to listen to them. B+ my behind.

Pre-candidate Obama made the community organizing Jericho rounds preaching the dissolution of all walls, reiterated in his Berlin potus campaign speech.

Obama’s malleable walls are built on sand, unfit, of his own making, doomed to collapse.

I pretty much could not stand to watch Bill Clinton either. In the early years it was because of the sanctimonious smug attitude (he like the filthy lying coward in the White House now thought he was Christ-like). In later years it was because Clinton had been exposed as a lying hypocrite.

With the current occupant of the people’s house, I just have pure and fully justified hatred. The sooner he is out of office the better.

Terrye on December 16, 2009 at 6:32 AM

It is important to continue to listen to him even though it is painful to listen to such immature spin and revisionism.

In that clip, he tells the Oprah that as of January 20, 2009 he told Michelle that his poll numbers would plummet within 6 months because unemployment was going to be about 10%. Problem is, weeks later, he urged Congress to pass Porkulus to keep unemployment below 8%. Just numbers.

He does seem to be a satire of POTUS not the real thing. He always looks small when around world leaders. It shows and he knows it which makes him all the more desperate for the PR stunts to inflate his ego. I just wish he’d stop using the troops as props. They deserve better.
