Video: Goracle descends to earth at Copenhagen

posted at 6:36 pm on December 14, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via RCP, I wanted to give you a longer clip but the audio’s shoddy on the only one I can find. Too bad. It was, says Politico, a Woodstock moment.

If Copenhagen is the enviros’ Woodstock, then Gore is The Who, the Grateful Dead and Creedence Clearwater Revival as a one-man band. The former vice president drew such a big crowd that security had to shut down access, with hundreds of unhappy activists left outside…

Moeller also quoted the 19th century conservative British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, saying that “to be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge,” drawing a chuckle from Gore who, last week, traded barbs with Sarah Palin, describing her as a global warming “denier.”

Where the Woodstock/Copenhagen analogy breaks down: Woodstock was a success. Note well this data point from the new CBS poll showing just 37 percent consider global warming a high priority (down from 52 percent a few years ago). If the goal of climate-change “awareness” is to convince people that the threat is real and desperately urgent, how is this not an almost total failure?

cbs-priority

The columns represent total respondents, Republicans, Democrats, and indies. To rephrase that last question, how do you pass cap-and-trade when even a clear majority of Democrats think green measures should bow before economic development? Answer: You don’t, which is why this issue is going nowhere in Congress until unemployment relaxes a bit. Or, I guess, until newspapers start running a lot more “Eskimos need refrigerators now!” stories.

Blowback

Gore arrives.

Weather.com is predicting snow in Copenhagen this week.

More empirical evidence of the Gore Effect? Of course, the science is settled.

Yes, we know … thanks. By the way, I understand that’s where you attended nut waxing college. How’d ya like it there? Hard to wax those chilly gonads I bet.

As we have found, they’re just vile.

Simon’s term ‘racefan’ is meant to devalue and denigrate. But I can’t get why, unless he’s full of hate.

Sure not everyone owns a doctorate, but there are other good and decent people who don’t need some esoteric credential to be good and decent.

Libs, like simplesimon, demand a credential but then ignore it to feel better about themselves. To me, that defines a low-grade psychopath.

Still, and always, I’ll share a canteen of water with a Patriot before I’ll have a beer with a lib.

Liam on December 14, 2009 at 7:59 PM

right4life on December 14, 2009 at 8:01 PM

I always find it amusing that the libs think they’re the smartest people in the room…when the truth is they’re dumb as dirt, and cannot respond with any form of intelligence or logic, all they can do is parrot talking points.
libs aren’t known for independent thinking…
right4life on December 14, 2009 at 7:53 PM

If leftists had any independent thoughts they wouldn’t be Leftists.
They are really fond of circular logic – and that’s how they think they’re the smartest in the room.

Forget it, he has no real thoughts, just strings of bumper sticker attacks.
He is useful in the sense that he is a model liberal..facts, or any thing close to an intellectual dialog is beyond their concept.
I find it refreshing, it reminds me of why I am a conservative…I never realized, until people like him post, just how far apart conservative and liberals are.
We would never be able to post what he does on any liberal website, yet we allow (for amusement but still allow) him to post on a conservative website…yet he would never acknowledge or recognize that, such is a liberal mind.
They are very simple in thought, yet determined, facts don’t deter them, nor does humiliation or shame…interesting creatures, which is why we keep them around…

Al Gore is a double barreled source of Co2 gas. If he would have been around seventy years ago in Copenhagen, it would have to been a gas bag about Hitler not being a threat. The guy is simply on the wrong side of every issue, and is actually smug about his idiocy.

Pols concerned about reelection may show some hesitation (like they are on Obamacare), but make no mistake – these evil bastards and their sinister (not just stupid/wrong) motives are VERY determined, and they feel so close now that they can taste it. Do you really think that the population control, GIGANTIC global government SOBs are just going to let this thing go? They’ve failed to push through their crap with SARS scares, Bird Flu scares, etc. “Global Warming” is supposed to be their winner and they will not go quietly.

BTW, I’ve been predicting for a while that if the cooling trend continues we’ll see the “science community” decide that “global cooling” is the real threat (remember, this is what they send through the last cooling phase, and flipped to “warming” alarmism after the 1970s). Don’t think for a second that they aren’t arrogant enough to pull this crap.

The same thing I think of any idiot who pulls “confusion of climate and weather” out of their ass. All they’ve demonstrated is that they’ve nothing to support their claims. When you fail to modify your model to reflect real world data then you’re a fool. All anyone in the church of holy warming has done is claim real data contrary to their model is wrong and a travesty.

Got the science wonk thing happening there, Oakland. Maybe you can explain to me why it is that the scientists who are the major proponents of AGW don’t act like scientists? Why don’t they do what scientists do? Share their data and their models, so other scientists can do what they do, which is to try to duplicate their results? Why won’t AGW scientists engage in debate? If they are so all-holy right, they should clean up and win new converts right? But no, debate never happens–in fact–anyone who has another point of view is attacked and smeared. If they would treat it like science, people would believe that it was a science. Since the AGW scientists treat it like a belief system, in which non-believers are vilified as “deniers,” it appears more and more to be a secular religion.

On Fox & Friends this morning, Gore was quoted as saying that the Arctic Ocean would be ice-free by 2014, although the scientist Gore quoted said he was wrong. Fox and Friends didn’t name the scientist, but this would be VERY useful information.

How about a “fuzzy math” question for the Goracle: Since Arctic sea ice areas (at the same time of year) have INCREASED over the last two years, how does an increasing trend extrapolate to zero five years from now?

To do what? Keep their baby-seal and polar-bear meat cool?

The title of this post and the caption confuses me. How can he have “descend[ed] to earth” but be “risen”?

I think it’s more like he fell down to earth- flat on his face.

That weasel in a human suit should be the subject of at least ten class-action lawsuits and fraud investigations.
