Quotes of the day

“In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: ‘These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.’
“However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.
“‘It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,’ Dr Maslowski said. ‘I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.’
“Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.”

“A surge in sunshine more than 60 years ago helped Swiss mountain glaciers melt faster than today, even though warmer average temperatures are being recorded now, Swiss researchers said Monday.
“Their study into the impact of solar radiation on Alpine glaciers made the ‘surprising discovery’ that in the 1940s, and especially summer 1947, the ice floes lost the most ice since measurements begin 95 years ago, according to Zurich’s Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ)…
“‘The surprising thing is that this paradox can be explained relatively easily with radiation,’ said one the ETHZ researchers, Matthias Huss, in the university’s online review.
“‘This should not lead people to conclude that the current period of global warming is not really as big of a problem for the glaciers as previously assumed,’ he added.”

All of the models suggest that there is a 100% chance that Al Gore is nothing but a sanctimonious idiot.
The man has earned billions telling you that we are days away from drowning all the polar bears and, sadly, too many of you morons have bought the myths that he is selling without question. Shame on you people who have done that. All you’ve managed to do is make sure that Gore’s druggie son will never have to hold a real job but you’ve done nothing to help those polar bears.

In the news:
-
The city of Edmonton was the second coldest place on earth Sunday. It was beaten only by a town in Siberia, where the temperature dropped to -48 C.
-
Environment Canada has issued a warning, saying temperatures will be ‘bitterly cold.’ The projected high in Calgary on Monday is -32 C, but combined with the wind chill, other parts of the Prairies could feel as cold as -50 C.
-
Environment Canada are urging people to stay indoors if possible as parts of Western Canada are breaking 120-year records for extreme cold weather.
-
The temperature in Calgary hit a 116-year low on Monday morning, but the chill is only expected to last a little longer

As with all psychopaths, Gore seeks relevance. He wants money, too, and like other psychopaths of the type who bilk old ladies out of their life savings without remorse, Gore is running a huge scam.
He and everyone else involved in Climategate need to start facing a cascade of lawsuits, worldwide. Break their banks by having to constantly defend themselves or reimburse companies and persons they ruined with their decades-long scam.
Liam on December 15, 2009 at 7:32 AM
Very interesting, thank you. Common sense would say that the polar ice is not shrinking. Algore would say that it was a military coverup.

Psychopaths have neither shame nor a conscience. Psychopathy is the only reason I can find for someone being a die-hard liberal. That and a touch of insanity–doing the same dumb or damaging thing over and over while all the time expecting a different result.

You would enjoy the doc. The team took the plane apart under the ice, brought it home in pieces, then fully restored it. It was beautiful to see it take off and fly again after more than 50 years buried.
I’m into jets but seeing a WWII prop-driving plane fly is almsot like seeing angels on the wing.

That’s confusing the issue with facts. What was said years ago was put in the freezer, to be brought out now. Then again, the ‘scientist’ so quoted denied saying ‘something as exact as that’.
Now stop being mean-spirited and trying to hurt liberals’ tender feelings. They might get upset, hurt themselves by stomping their feet like petulant children, and sue you for causing their PTSD or something.

marklmail on December 15, 2009 at 8:13 AM
but Sarah Palin would say that the polar ice cap is shrinking:
“I saw the impact of changing weather patterns firsthand while serving as governor of our only Arctic state. I was one of the first governors to create a subcabinet to deal specifically with the issue and to recommend common-sense policies to respond to the coastal erosion, thawing permafrost and retreating sea ice that affect Alaska’s communities and infrastructure.”
That Glen Beck piece is one of the most shamelessly moronic six minutes in the history of video. And he clearly knows nothing about the Progressive movement.

Actually, many more than you might like to think are aware of ‘progressives’. That’s why only 20% of Americans are willing to call themselves liberal.
True, about the same number are willing to admit to being conservative.
Progressives steal liberty, though, while cons like me want maximum liberty for all. And everyone but progressives know that. You’re mistaken, there. People know well enough about progressives. That’s why the Democrat Party is fast and right now losing the support of moderates and independents.

The part where Beck “proves” that the whole point of the climate change controversy is to replace God with Gaia worship and limit good Christian families to one baby each.
But Sarah’s acknowledgment that global warming is real is not insignificant.

Caper29 on December 15, 2009 at 8:43 AM
Good thing Al Gore didn’t win the presidency, I shudder to think what kind of legislation he would have passed. Look, I agree that there was some alarming data coming from scientists regarding global warming, and I agree they need to keep studying it. I think regardless of who is right we need to start reducing emissions and CO2 from the air. But any time you have a politician involved in something like this you can bet they have an agenda and they’re going to capitalize on it in any way they can, which is exactly what Al Gore did. Having this conference just opens the door to widespread corruption from “leaders” around the world. And we’re the ones who will pay for it.

Well, the Gaia thing is real, while Christianity has been derided for decades.
A Canadian ‘researcher’ just the other day said couples should be limited to one child each. If that becomes law, it then interferes with the views of almost everyone, religious or not, and especially those Catholics who regard birth control as a sin. Imposing such a thing interferes with their right to practice their faith as they see fit in their household. In sum, ‘progressives’ are again trying to steal liberty.
Sarah might think Gore is right, but if she does I think she’s wrong there. That’s her business, not mine right now.
Progressives have been denigrating everything Palin says and does for more than a year. NOW, you being a progressive, want to take her seriously?
Why do you progressives keep changing your rules, and how the F do you keep up that?

Global temperature averages vary from year to year … world climate is never static. The world’s climate is always moving in one direction or another. This is what she acknowledged.
The AGW fanatics believe in “climate staticalism” … that nothing changes and ice was formed billions of years ago and never melts.
darwin on December 15, 2009 at 9:03 AM
yeah, I’ve noticed that Gaia-worshipers have taken over Congress, the white House and the Supreme Court, while Christians have been purged and have no influence on policy.
One Canadian researcher does not a movement make. There have been people talking about “overpopulation” for decades, but I don’t recall any serious efforts to limit couples anywhere in the Western World in that time.
I take her half-seriously because she’s half right. And, if a right-wing hero admits that Climate Change seems to exist, that’s a significant step in the right direction. But, actually, that quote was more of a one-off response to the “buried planes” guy than a broader statement.
Because Saul Alinsky told us to.

Worship isn’t necessary. Results, even by doubters, always are if they become law. But you know that.
Movements start with an idea. Maybe the idea gains traction, wins more adherents. Eventually, it CAN become a movement. You know that, too.
The ‘population bomb’ has yet to happen, when it was predicted to explode by 1985 or so.
You haven’t taken her seriously at all, even mocked her. Now, you changed your own rules to justify yourself in another way to mock us.
Seriously–why do you even come here if, as you keep showing, you revile us so much? Why do you and your other friends like simplesimon come here all the time? You have shown us your personal and overall political revulsion of us. Why do you come here?
I’m wondering if you’re being sarcastic there. But if not, you’re failing Alinsky more than you’re failing America. Maybe you should switch your personal tactics.
I’m not trying to convert him, I assure. I’m just helping show that BB is an abuser just like simplesimon. BB and simon are the same type, hateful abusers.
I tried last night to have a genuine talk with simon, and got back what I expected: abuse. BB is the same, though more subtle about it.

Just my way, and my mood right now.

Bleeds Blue is the type of “progressive” that Mussolini absolutely loved. She never questions the party dogma, and will always defend it blindly.
It doesn’t matter that the so-called “settled science” has been shown to be completely falsified and fraudulent, it’s the party line so she will tow it. Period.
See, her religion isn’t one of God, it is one of man. She truly believes she is better than anyone who would dare to disagree with her, and therefore any such disagreements can be waved away as irrelevant. She thinks SHE is a god.
It doesn’t matter that her facts are nothing more than opinions, it doesn’t matter that not one actual fact backs up her assertions. What matters is that the leading “progressives” said it, therefore it must be true.
A mind is truly a terrible thing to waste.
runawayyyy on December 15, 2009 at 9:26 AM
Yes, it’s really surprising that melting glaciers can be explained by solar effin’ radiation. We have a nuclear fusion reactor the size of a million earths giving off more energy in each second than humans have ever used. Maybe it should be included in our theories of what affects the temperature of the earth.
Maybe.

But liberals like bleeds here only care about having a talking point so they ignore the fact that Palin does not believe in “Man Made Global Warming”.
Just like liberals are always about “following the money” when it comes to big oil (who Obama took hundereds of thousands of dollars from) and Haliburton (who liberals never seem to care about when a democrat is using them and giving them contracts like LBJ,Clinton, and Obama):

…You mean if the eco-fundamentalist can get everybody to believe that the world is coming to an end unless they go “green” with the help of Al-Gore’s companies and the scientist who help push this agenda they stand to make hundreds of millions of dollars?????
I thought it was Obama and his liberal friends that keep on telling everybody not to give in to “fear tatics” and “scaremongering”.
No conflict of interest here at all.
The fact that Al-Gore’s personal income has gone up to over a hundred million and stands to go into the billions when his companies reap the windfalls of the “chicken little” scare tatics used by the Eco-Fundamentalist does not seem to bother liberals at all.
It’s all about Cheney getting those bonuses owed to him from Haliburton.
A company he left years before he became Vice-President:
But Gore having companies directly involved in getting profit from the very policies he is pushing is just fine for the super righteous liberals:
Al Gore And Climate Ka-Ching

Gore himself joined the venture capital group, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers just last September. On May 1, the firm announced a $500 million investment in maturing green technology firms called the Green Growth Fund.
Over….and…over…and….over the facts show that Al-Gore stands to become incredibly wealthy right along with the green companies that he has helped start up and the ones lobbying for billions of dollars on Capital Hill.
We spent the last eight years hearing the whining and crying about “K street” and “Republicans being owned by lobbyist” only to get dumba$$ blank looks and total silence from liberals now that a democrat is in office neck deep in lobbyist.
More corruption for liberals to ignore while they cry about how dangerous Sarah Palin is and FOX NEWS.

Johnson Controls: $47,609,000

This is why Al-Gore can make a complete fool out of himself concerning this “Man Made Global Warming Hoax” time after time because facts and reality don’t matter when it comes to the major profits he looks to rake in with the help of the liberal sheep like bleeds blue.
Gore has already stated that science does not matter…it will not get in the way of his liberal agenda:
Princeton Physicist Calls Global Warming Science “Mistaken”Scientist fired by Al Gore was told, “science will not intrude on public policy”.
In any other industry this would be considered a severe conflict of interest. In essence, Al Gore has helped to create a fictitious catastrophe, then told everybody what the solutions have to be, and then put himself in a position to capitalize on the hype.

There for awhile I believed in man-made climate change. When I was a kid living in East Tennessee from ’81 to ’91 I can recall very few snowless winters where school was cancelled. Since I got back in ’03 I cannot recall any snow other than dustings that were gone before the day was over. In 84 an ice storm hit and it dropped to -24F, power was out because of ice accumulation on the wires.
Then after talking to my grandfather and father where they observe the same decade or so of mild winters followed by decade or so of colder winters I tossed the Theory out the window.

1) The north pole isn’t melting. There was a 1 year meltback 3 years ago caused by changes in local circulation patterns. Since then the amount of ice in the arctic has returned to normal levels.
2) Some glaciers are melting, some aren’t. Many of the ones that are melting aren’t doing so because of warmer temperatures. European glaciers have been retreating for the last several hundred years, a fact that is well documented. One alpine glacier recently uncovered a Roman era mine, which indicates that temperatures were even warmer 2000 years ago, than they are today.

The funniest thing to me about Copenhagen is that those countries that would benefit from the conference walked out. What kind of moment was that–”If I can’t get my way I’m taking my toys and going home”?
Copenhagen is about massive transfers of wealth and power, and nothing more. Gore stands to make literally billions from this phony crisis.
The scum pushing this total fraud all need to be sued so hard the next time we read about them is in the obituary columns–where it’s noted they died penniless.

As the linked graph shows, Arctic sea ice area varies seasonally, reaching a minimum in September and a maximum in March. There was a sharp decline in the September minimum area between 2006 and 2007, but the September minimum area INCREASED from 2008 to 2009 by about 15%. These figures are fresh, Mr. Gore, and so is the ice!
Steve Z on December 15, 2009 at 10:26 AM
Even if the glaciers were shrinking, we would still have snow fall every year. Glaciers form when snow falling in the mountains compacts, and begins flowing downhill. It is in the lower elevations that melting usually takes place.
A plan that landed at near the top of a glacier, would soon be buried, and then carried down hill until it reached the area where the glacier was melting, where it would be expelled from the glacier. This is true regardless of whether the glacier is growing or shrinking.
I saw a show a few years ago about a plane crash site that was found at the foot of an Andean glacier. The team spent a lot of time trying to figure out how the plane could have crashed where it was found. Turned out it didnt’. The plane crashed into the mountain near the peak, and over the intervening 40 to 50 years, was carried down the mountain to the place where it was found.

BTW, during the time when the PDO was in it’s warm phase, from 1970 to about 2005, the arctic did warm. Now that the PDO has shifted to the cold phase, the arctic is cooling.

Abusing the planet? I work in environmental remediation – every bit of pollution we’ve done is remediable – to preserve ourselves. The planet could care less.
Try to get back the dead from Pompeii or Montserrat. I’d say we have a lot more to fear from the planet than it has from us.

Just adding to the great points already made concerning this “Man Made Global Warming Hoax”.
Wanted to add to your great point on the Global transfers of wealth:
U.N. ‘Climate Change’ Plan Would Likely Shift Trillions to Form New World Economy

By George Russell

These “green” initiatives are nothing but a power grab to control the masses and set up the few privileged heads of governments in positions of unchecked power.
The smaller countries are not getting all the perks they want so they are resisting right now,but if the elites have their way with this bogus “Global Warming” scheme, they will soon have no choice or say so in anything.
Even more industry would be sent off to underdeveloped countries thus creating even more massive job losses for the US and other developed countries.
When you are at the point that you can charge people for “air”,you have unlimited ability to drain resources and force the people to bow to your every whim.
All of this under the control of the “UN”.
A governing body that has never stopped a war…
never stopped genocide….
and can’t even be trusted to hand out food without raping the women and children.
The Cap and Trade bill would be a major step in this direction and the liberals know it.
This economy killing measure is based on cut and paste science that does not even work unless all the larger countries are involved.
Which they are not:
EPA Admits Cap and Trade Won’t Work
http://blog.heritage.org/2009/07/08/epa-admits-cap-and-trade-won%E2%80%99t-work/
Moreover, it should be a red flag when the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) admits cap and trade won’t work. At yesterday’s hearing before the Senate Environment Public Works Committee,
But facts and the reality on the ground don’t matter when
so much money and power is at stake.
Anybody paying attention knows that Cap and Trade is about government gaining more control over society and taxing the crap out of us.
This is the lie liberals tell:
“There are no new taxes,” Ms. Boxer said Tuesday morning.”
This is the truth:
It is so evident that even some liberals call it for what it is…..A HUGE TAX!!!!
Dem Congressman Admits: “Cap & Trade Is a Great Big Tax” (Video)
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/04/dem-congressman-admits-cap-trade-is.html
Uh-Oh… Democratic Congressman John Dingell admitted today at a Congressional hearing on global warming that cap and trade is a tax– a Great Big tax!
“NODBODY IN THIS COUNTRY WANTS TO ADMIT THAT CAP AND TRADE IS A TAX….AND IT’S A GREAT BIG ONE”…..
This has nothing to do with saving polar bears and everything to do with a major governmental power grab.
“Yes We Can!!!!”

Gore’s gig has been like that of a Dot.com CEO, breathlessly extolling the new world economic reality. He has been the head cheerleader of the the new paradigm shift in a world full of Henry Blodgets who gleefully ridicule the Grahm and Dodds nay sayers.
Unfortunately for big Al, his Climate Change IPO is stuck in the cue and the mark to market climatologist are having their accounting reviewed on the eve of 2001.
Next stop: the Al Gore sock puppet is sold on ebay.

What Al Gore says: “75% chance in 5-7 years” polar cap will be gone.
What Al Gore means: “75% chance my London-based cap~n~trade brokerage firm won’t be worth the paper the offering memorandum is written on if I can’t hype this crisis to the point of using governments to impose a wealth transfer system that benefits me”

You cannot deny the pretty charts! They use NUMBERS and have COLORS!

The only thing that is settled is that I wouldn’t trust AlGore in a game of 3 card monte… Even if I was dealing…

Why does Gore hate seals so much? Siding with polar bears is just wrong. Everybody knows that the seals are the good guys!

Hey AL: I’ll bet you $100,000 that the entire north polar ice cap is NOT ice free within 7 years. Naturally, using your figures, you’ll give me 3:1 odds. CALL ME NOW TO SIGN THE BETTING SLIPS!!!
