Well, for starters, when it comes to climate change it has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the so-called experts are not above cooking the books to come up with false findings. They cannot be trusted. None of them since it is virtually impossible to sort out the honest scientists from the East Anglia crowd.

Oakland. You sad little man. You are back again trying to troll the morning crowd — with the exact same statements that were shot down late last night.
Because many areas of science are based on fact and not the mythology of global warming and climate change. Al Gore, East Anglia CRU and far too many of the so-called experts are heavily invested in a certain set of conclusions. They have created a whole industry out of drowning polar bears and the idea that man is able to undo climate change by driving crappy cars and using twisty light bulbs.
Oakland little child… i notice you continue to try to make the argument about anything but the science. Pretty telling.
You and I know Monckton bases his assertions on science yet you play this tired games. You go ahead and trust all scientists. I will not. We both know that is stupid and deadly . Why do not you research all the lawsuits against them. They are far from perfect.
I KNOW this is the wrong thread and wrong topic, but Obama gives himself a B+ thus far.

Barry’s used to being the beneficiary of Affirmative Action grading. So he starts with an A+ (for showing up), then has to deduct a few points for burying the nation under a mountain of “unprecedented” debt, weakening us on the international stage with his incessant apologizing and groveling, and completely botching situations like Honduras, Iran, Russia, etc. (which would have been easy points for any competent president) — and that’s how he ends up with a B+.
Which only goes to show just how disassociated the filthy lying coward is from reality. How can you created massive debt, double digit unemployment, an ambiguous and often contradictory strategy for something less than victory in Afghanistan, insult one world leader after another while also becoming the chief apologist….. How can you do all that and have anything higher than a C-.
Richard Dawkins (yes that one, the noted and hated athiest) has written a book called The Greatest Show On Earth. The book is a step by step look at evolutionary theory, showing why it is real and true; it has a stated target audience of Creationists and IDers.
I just finished reading this book. I highly recommend it to anyone who has ANY doubts about the validity of this theory.
GnuBreed on December 13, 2009 at 11:48 PM
the ‘theory’ is faith…atheist faith, and Dawkins is exhibit A for why it is…
why don’t you have dawkins prove his precious little theory, and evolve something…take a bacteria, and ‘evolve’ it into a multi-cellular organism.
that way there would be no doubts. but you can’t…all you can do is whine that you don’t have enough time…and so prove that evolution is faith.
But it is the feedbacks that are the most scientifcally uncertain issues, by far the hardest things for modeling to
get right, and the reason you cannot determine climate sensitivity from a one-page simple straightforward calculation.
Getting the complex water vapor, cloud, lapse rate (convection and latent heat) and other responses to temperature
changes sorted out is what makes climate modeling so tough. The feedbacks are the source of almost the entire
uncertainty range in the IPCC’s estimate of climate sensitivity (which also relies on measurements of recent and
ancient climate). Somehow Monckton treats the least certain quantity of the three in his breakdown as the most
certain, while wildly reducing the values of the other two. His final estimate … is not believable on these
and other grounds, including his many other errors.
Quote above by Arthur P. Smith, in [physics.ao-ph] 27 Nov 2008

Kini on December 14, 2009 at 2:25 AM
Ah… this would be the same Rachel Carson who is responsible for the Malaria deaths of millions in sub-Saharan Africa and the tropics worldwide, due to her demagoguing of the DDT issue.
… which brings us full circle to oakland and his fetishistic worship of scientists and other “experts.”
“There is far more independent due diligence on the smallest prospectus offering securities to the public than on a Nature article that might end up having a tremendous impact on policy.”
.. and here underlies the real problem with “Climate Science” as shown by the CRU e-mails.
Science is based on the scientific method. That allows that one does measurements of a phenomena, records them and then puts forth a framework on how such measurements correlate with others. Any hypothesis must have some data backing it, but is prone to data from related realms that may either bolster or disprove such a hypothesis. Predictions coming from a hypothesis allow that if those postulates are true, then certain effects that are measureable can be seen and measured.
For simple systems this is relatively easily done: a ball starting with zero velocity rolling down an incline plane has the vector of gravity and motion at right angles to it, which yield the net downward and forward motion of the ball. When you remove the forward vector by measurement you are left with the downward vector. That is easy to do science and while it took humanity some time to get to doing that, once it started as a process, this postulates and measurements to prove/disprove postulates concept, things really got rolling in multiple vectors. Yet the basics of repeatability, falsifiability and empirical measurements either via direct analysis or via analogies while understanding the differences in the analogs, allows for a large measure of science to be done.
For AGW to be ‘true’ it must demonstrate in PAST environments with KNOWN temps and carbon dioxide systems that their postulate is REPEATABLE in past domains and an analysis TOOL for them. Yet Earth’s history yields up time of de-coupled carbon dioxide readings and temperature as seen from stable carbon isotope analysis. Thus AGW fails to explain past domains which would be a touchstone to it being TRUE. That first video steps through the temperature process and demonstrates widly varying temperature domains independent of mankind that show far greater highs, lows and deltas in changes than in the current post-glacial period. Thus the base point of analysis is that there is no outstanding difference between our inter-glacial period and past ones. That requires an understanding of past atmospherics which go beyond the bounds and limits of AGW theory of direct linkage unless those proposing the theory can then demonstrate how they understand natural past fluctuations of both carbon dioxide and temperatures.
They can’t do that, therefore the differences that man makes both positive and negative (and there are aerosols we put out on the negative side of the ledger) are not being teased from natural atmospheric variability and our understanding of past climates. The history of life on earth has a good 800 million year data set, albeit with a large amount of time compression due to lithification, that MUST serve as the basis for understanding not only climate but ‘climate change’: our sample set is too small to have any relevence to the larger data set that has seen swings in all atmospheric gases and temperatures, and simple postulation on mankind’s effects do not address the larger climate background of the planet.
There is openness in data sharing post-publication.
There is acceptance of critics with data sets that can be replicated and reliable, and they are not shunted aside, demeaned or shut out from the discussion as their background and knowledge could prove key to a greater understanding of scientific endeavors and knowledge.
There is no attempt to subvert or suborn journals, nor to create a limited in-group of ‘peers’ that are the only ones ‘allowed’ to do peer review.
You do not do those things to stop the fields involved in inquiry, as they are vital to our long-term understanding of these phenomena as a species.
Science is a brutal full body contact sport. When you hide behind in-groups, destroy data, and otherwise seek to close out the wider scientific community you are not performing science in any way, shape or form. I know. I saw that at the last revolution in geology, and it was an eye opener. AGW hasn’t wanted to come out and play and those involved in it have claimed to have the only marbles in town. How many are involved? Members of EA CRU, NASA/Goddard, NOAA and multiple weather services are suspect in cooking the books. Luckily stations have preserved their data so the decade or so of data gathering necessary to stand up the data sets originally, back when there wasn’t much of a digital base for them and it was done BY HAND can be rebuilt. Those that destroyed or homogenized data have broken faith with their predecessors who gathered the raw data, and that also ranks very highly in my books for undermining science as the trust handed to you in the form of raw data is to PRESERVE IT.
I know what science looks like and how it works.
AGW ain’t science.
It is time to come out and play, now, AGW believers.
Show me your data… and make sure it is the raw data, not your ‘adjusted’ or ‘homogenized’ data. And it had better include all the historical data sets for the last 800 million years or so, and you had better be able to explain how natural variation by orders of magnitude can be swamped by the tiny amount man has done to our current atmosphere so that you can show what man has done to the current atmosphere. Too bad that is more than just tree rings, weather stations and postulates on pollution. But that is science for you: you don’t get to play alone, as that is just playing with yourself.
AGW is not science, it is a religion complete with a system of beliefs built on faith, a dogmatic ethos built on the mythology of global warming, and a worship of a vague “carbon neutral” world. In reality, AGW is nothing more than a cult under the religion of socialism but don’t tell the tree-huggers that carbon credits are nothing more than a fancy name for state seizure and redistribution of private wealth.
Weak minded people clinging to their belief. Every reason she gave contained the word belief. I’ll bet she feels so good about herself, too. Lord M. could have punched her in the face with the facts and she would still believe the lie. He verbally did when he told her that scientists don’t believe, they know.
Well said. A pity more people won’t read this. You need to save it, and re-post it on the next climate change thread that comes up… preferably, earlier rather than later, so that a maximum of people can read this.
These morons aren’t merely trying to convince others of what they believe, they seem to also want to believe in global warming. They want it to be true. That’s what’s really odd.
Rachel Carson is basically, a mass murderer. If the nasty c#nt wasn\’t already dead, someone should tie a blindfold around her, put a cigarette in her mouth, prop her against a wall, and put a bullet in her head.
Excellent. But you could put it more simply: if these “AGW” believers think something needs to be done, that we need to irreparably change our lifestyles and condemn billions to poverty, they should go first. Mass suicide of left-wing greenies would cut down on CO2, so they should do it. Or else, they are hypocrites. But we already knew that.
These morons aren’t merely trying to convince others of what they believe, they seem to also want to believe in global warming. They want it to be true. That’s what’s really odd.

You are right, but it is not odd. They have grabbed onto this idea because it fits their already developed view that man is the cause of everything bad, and nature is the cause of everything good. They are the modern Druids, and this is their religion.

You mean the “scientists” like Mann and Jones who manipulated data so the results would conform with their religious beliefs, or real scientists like Spencer or Lindzen who are above-board?
Yes,real scientists. I would bet that Monckton doesn’t have much interaction with them. What has the lord Monckton said about Arthur Smith’s complete rebuttal of his “paper” in the physics journal?
Lord Monckton demonstrates the power of the Socratic method as long as participants remain calm, dispassionate, and measured in their questions and answers. Even the lady submitting herself to Monckton’s dialectic was polite and affirmed her desire to “resist” his questioning technique by stating she wished to “affirm for herself” the data available to everyone.
.
Why is she standing out in the cold when she could be inside by a warming fire of fine, aged carbon-based wood surfing the “interwebz” for answers to the questions raised by Lord Monckton?
I wish the Gore would put his money where his mouth is and debate this man already.
I’m also waiting for a video of Lord Monckton sitting on a glacier, feeding a polar bear and mocking Al Gore while showing us how these Eviro-wackos are manipulating facts.
Further more, being that I’m from NJ, he just sounds a lot damn smarter then I.

Is Al Gore a climate scientist? Is Lord Monckton a climate scientist? Why do people listen to either one of them and take their words as gospel? If you want an expert’s take, why not consult an expert (i.e., a scientist)?
oakland on December 14, 2009 at 6:47 AM
Well, for starters, when it comes to climate change it has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the so-called experts are not above cooking the books to come up with false findings. They cannot be trusted. None of them since it is virtually impossible to sort out the honest scientists from the East Anglia crowd.
highhopes on December 14, 2009 at 6:57 AM
Why trust any scientist, then?
oakland on December 14, 2009 at 7:01 AM
Oakland. You sad little man. You are back again trying to troll the morning crowd — with the exact same statements that were shot down late last night.
go back in your cave.

Answer the question(?)
oakland on December 14, 2009 at 7:09 AM
Because many areas of science are based on fact and not the mythology of global warming and climate change. Al Gore, East Anglia CRU and far too many of the so-called experts are heavily invested in a certain set of conclusions. They have created a whole industry out of drowning polar bears and the idea that man is able to undo climate change by driving crappy cars and using twisty light bulbs.
highhopes on December 14, 2009 at 7:10 AM
So, Al Gore is a scientist?
oakland on December 14, 2009 at 7:13 AM
Oakland little child… i notice you continue to try to make the argument about anything but the science. Pretty telling.
You and I know Monckton bases his assertions on science yet you play this tired games. You go ahead and trust all scientists. I will not. We both know that is stupid and deadly . Why do not you research all the lawsuits against them. They are far from perfect.
look in the mirror and grow up. petty

AZCoyote on December 14, 2009 at 7:29 AM
spot on!
cmsinaz on December 14, 2009 at 7:34 AM
Which only goes to show just how disassociated the filthy lying coward is from reality. How can you created massive debt, double digit unemployment, an ambiguous and often contradictory strategy for something less than victory in Afghanistan, insult one world leader after another while also becoming the chief apologist….. How can you do all that and have anything higher than a C-.

Fletch54 on December 14, 2009 at 7:46 AM
the ‘theory’ is faith…atheist faith, and Dawkins is exhibit A for why it is…
why don’t you have dawkins prove his precious little theory, and evolve something…take a bacteria, and ‘evolve’ it into a multi-cellular organism.
that way there would be no doubts. but you can’t…all you can do is whine that you don’t have enough time…and so prove that evolution is faith.

kiltedscotsman5 on December 14, 2009 at 8:11 AM
.. and here underlies the real problem with “Climate Science” as shown by the CRU e-mails.
J_Crater on December 14, 2009 at 8:25 AM
I was going through college while two major revolutions in the sciences were going on, and what I saw then told me how science works.
But that is science for you: you don’t get to play alone, as that is just playing with yourself.
ajacksonian on December 14, 2009 at 8:34 AM
AGW is not science, it is a religion complete with a system of beliefs built on faith, a dogmatic ethos built on the mythology of global warming, and a worship of a vague “carbon neutral” world. In reality, AGW is nothing more than a cult under the religion of socialism but don’t tell the tree-huggers that carbon credits are nothing more than a fancy name for state seizure and redistribution of private wealth.
highhopes on December 14, 2009 at 8:48 AM
Weak minded people clinging to their belief. Every reason she gave contained the word belief. I’ll bet she feels so good about herself, too. Lord M. could have punched her in the face with the facts and she would still believe the lie. He verbally did when he told her that scientists don’t believe, they know.

Well said. A pity more people won’t read this. You need to save it, and re-post it on the next climate change thread that comes up… preferably, earlier rather than later, so that a maximum of people can read this.
Bravo!

ajacksonian,
what is the entity to which you refer – AGW ?
oakland on December 14, 2009 at 9:06 AM
These morons aren’t merely trying to convince others of what they believe, they seem to also want to believe in global warming. They want it to be true. That’s what’s really odd.

Rachel Carson is basically, a mass murderer. If the nasty c#nt wasn\’t already dead, someone should tie a blindfold around her, put a cigarette in her mouth, prop her against a wall, and put a bullet in her head.
PimFortuynsGhost on December 14, 2009 at 9:12 AM
PimFortuynsGhost on December 14, 2009 at 9:15 AM
You are right, but it is not odd. They have grabbed onto this idea because it fits their already developed view that man is the cause of everything bad, and nature is the cause of everything good. They are the modern Druids, and this is their religion.
MikeA on December 14, 2009 at 9:28 AM
That’s why engineers call their work ‘trial and error’ with an emphasis on error. That’s more than most scientists will admit to.
docdave on December 14, 2009 at 9:40 AM
And how is she different from Michael Moore? Although I could say the same for his fiction-passed-on-as-fact, the real blame rests on those who put Carsons fiction into practice; that would be the government.
docdave on December 14, 2009 at 9:44 AM
What is it with these Brits…the guy just told her she is full of sh*t, that Greenpeace is full of sh*t, that global warming is full of sh*t. He basically called her ignorant and a puppet, that she has been duped and is stupid for being duped…and she just grins, smiles and accepts it.
I have got to go to England and learn how to do that…Brits can tell you to go F yourself, and you say “Okay, I think I will, thank you”…

Wow, Lord Whotsisname absolutely made hash out of that woman! This was very much worth watching; thanks!

Why wasn’t Monckton interviewing actual scientists?

You mean the “scientists” like Mann and Jones who manipulated data so the results would conform with their religious beliefs, or real scientists like Spencer or Lindzen who are above-board?
PimFortuynsGhost on December 14, 2009 at 11:57 AM
Yes,real scientists. I would bet that Monckton doesn’t have much interaction with them. What has the lord Monckton said about Arthur Smith’s complete rebuttal of his “paper” in the physics journal?
oakland on December 14, 2009 at 12:05 PM
Lord Monckton demonstrates the power of the Socratic method as long as participants remain calm, dispassionate, and measured in their questions and answers. Even the lady submitting herself to Monckton’s dialectic was polite and affirmed her desire to “resist” his questioning technique by stating she wished to “affirm for herself” the data available to everyone.
.
Why is she standing out in the cold when she could be inside by a warming fire of fine, aged carbon-based wood surfing the “interwebz” for answers to the questions raised by Lord Monckton?
ExpressoBold on December 14, 2009 at 12:41 PM
She doesn’t want to believe the facts because she has so much of herself invested into global warming. She would have to re-invent herself.
pageram on December 14, 2009 at 1:37 PM
Lord do I love Uncle Monckty.
