Video: Crowder’s CSI:Christmas

posted at 12:30 pm on December 12, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Steven and ‘Zo return with this spoof of CSI and a hilarious impersonation of David Caruso while investigating a string of serial killings. The victim? Christmas itself. Fear not, because Steven saves the day … or does he?

Be sure to watch PJTV for further adventures!

Can anyone out-overact David Caruso?

I like much of what Crowder has done in the past. This kinda misses the mark. Oh well.. Crowder will make up for it later.

GoodBoy on December 12, 2009 at 12:43 PM

Ho ho ho.

Mojave Mark on December 12, 2009 at 12:46 PM

A good idea that is poorly executed. I like Steve and agree with the point he’s making here, but this video is easily three minutes too long for the number of jokes in the script.

Crowder isn’t standing in front of a sheet in his bedroom and talking to a $200 camcorder anymore to make these videos. He has good ideas but can’t execute on them by himself… PJTV needs to get him a better editor and director.

“We’ve got the token latino guy looking for prints…”

THAT was funny!

I kinda thought the same.

Maybe you have to be a CSI fan to appreciate it; didn’t do anything for me

Yep, that got a chuckle.

AZfederalist on December 12, 2009 at 12:58 PM

I like Crowder a lot, and his Caruso impression was good, but the skit was a little too long. This is about the perfect clip for a CSI spoof. Jim Carrey on Letterman:

I saw Steven Crowder in a trailer for a new movie called “To Save a Life”. Although geared to older teens it looks like it will have a good message.

OhioCoastie on December 12, 2009 at 12:38 PM

Not even Crowder…heh…it almost wasn’t enough over-acting.

I had to stop watching CSI with Caruso in it…I just couldn’t stand him. This was pretty good tho!

JetBoy on December 12, 2009 at 1:37 PM

Sorry I don’t get the appeal of Crowder…he always seems like he’s trying too hard to be clever.

Skt510 on December 12, 2009 at 1:55 PM

Zo looks like Emmitt Smith with that beard.

Skt510 on December 12, 2009 at 1:55 PM

The difference is that Crowder can laugh at himself. I think you were thinking of John Stewart.

JetBoy on December 12, 2009 at 1:37 PM

I agree with you completely

CWforFreedom on December 12, 2009 at 2:23 PM

This was a very good satire of Caruso who one can justly accuse of overacting perhaps to compensate for the bland acting of the other CSI cast members.

docdave on December 12, 2009 at 2:37 PM

I miss how he would randomly talk a lot with a lot of little short clips…

GW_SS-Delta on December 12, 2009 at 2:44 PM

That wasn’t Crowder’s best video. It was lame. Not even funny.

CWforFreedom on December 12, 2009 at 2:23 PM

Aw Steve, sorry if I hurt your feelings…

Skt510 on December 12, 2009 at 3:10 PM

He needs to stick to his monologues. These spoofs are lame.

windbag on December 12, 2009 at 3:36 PM

Honestly, I think this was one of Steven’s weaker offerings. I’ve seen better impersonations of Caruso, and the jokes just weren’t that funny. I like his stuff overall, but he’s done better than this.

irishspy on December 12, 2009 at 4:27 PM

I don’t even watch CSI but I gotta say…ROFLMAO…funny.

oakpack on December 12, 2009 at 4:47 PM

Love the tree decorations!

Blake on December 12, 2009 at 5:00 PM

I actually do watch CSI:Miami and I thought his imitation was spot on, even better then Jim Carey’s actually (IMO). My husband loved that they threw in about three of the “WAAAHs!” because he’s always thought that part of CSI:Miami is hilarious. As a parody of CSI:Miami this is great, I do think they should have given the girl a heavy southern accent though. Her part wasn’t as spot on parody wise . . .

Ingenue on December 12, 2009 at 5:43 PM

Yeah, I don’t think Crowder’s all that funny in this. His earlier stuff was great, but this comes nowhere close to it. Zo was funny as always, though.

VanPalin on December 12, 2009 at 5:49 PM

I love the use of the yellow filter – that always drives me nuts on CSI Miaml. Who’s that girl? She’s yummy!

DamnCat on December 12, 2009 at 5:59 PM

Well they got the amber filter right. Except in most outdoor scenes it’s only a half-filter. Ahem… Not that I watch the show, or anything.

Good job on the “Sunglasses-O-Justice” usage.

This was more than a satire of CSI:Miami…stay tuned in…
I can’t wait for the I-Spy episode where they take on harry and nancy…

Is that Kupono Aweau?

Tanya on December 12, 2009 at 7:55 PM

It was funny to me. His Caruso was great, I just wish he did the “Horatio Caine warp.” The suspect runs away from Caine at top speed, then, slowly moves backwards directly into Horatio’s gun. That slap at the end would have been a great time to use it.

DrAllecon on December 12, 2009 at 9:01 PM

CSI: Miami is already a spoof.

This one was actually painful to watch.

I love Christmas, I love the Christ of Christmas, & I say “Merry Christmas” many times every December, but I have no problem with those who choose to say “Happy Holidays”. It’s actually a nice greeting.

jgapinoy on December 13, 2009 at 5:07 PM

I guess ya have to be a CSI fan, which I’m not, to fully appreciate the humor. A better skit would have been Santa in the hospital on life support on Xmas Eve, and having to pull the plug on him b/c of a determination that he’d exceeded his actuarially determined allotment of Obamacare.

WordsMatter on December 13, 2009 at 7:25 PM

It’s always hit and miss with Crowder. This was one of the misses.

Gaunilon on December 13, 2009 at 11:39 PM

He’s totally missing the voice. It’s lower, less breathy, more authoritative.
