Video: Statue of global savior unveiled in Indonesia
posted at 5:40 pm on December 10, 2009 by Allahpundit
A manger would have been better, but it’ll do. I don’t see the logic of depicting him as a child, though. Granted, he was a kid when he lived there, but if you’re building an attraction to a world celebrity, ideally you’d want it as recognizable, i.e. attractive, as possible. Unless you’re standing close enough to read the plaque on the base, this looks like some generic tribute to the spirit of youth or springtime or whatever.
Also: The butterfly’s a bit much.

Forgetting about the subject of the statue for a second, I must say that it is always amazing to me just how much attention people in other countries pay to US politics.

My collie says:
It coulda’ been worse. It coulda’ been a statue of the first crony.

At least the statue isn’t able to do the tennis match thing with its head. I guess that’s a plus.

Look at the bright side. It isn’t that big. So when The One tanks completely it won’t be that big of a loss.

Maybe Jeanne Dixon was only off by a few years when she predicted “A child born somewhere in the Middle East shortly before 7:00 A.M. (EST) on February 5, 1962 will revolutionize the world.”
I’m looking for a sign. Maybe if the pigeons don’t poop on the statue…

One day, this statue will be brought down a la Saddam by a penniless and outraged crowd.
TXUS on December 10, 2009 at 6:00 PM
Wow, that statue is a near perfect depiction of the spoiled brat-in-chief.
Now, just replace the butterfly with an acorn.

Sorry, but the way Allahpundit has been pushing this meme lately has been pretty lame… hes cheapening it badly..

Friends of Obama….LMAO!
Cronnies of Obama………If Hussein is Indonesia’s Golden Boy, They are in trouble. In fact, they can have the worhtless leader.
BigMike252 on December 10, 2009 at 6:01 PM
There’s one they’re planning on for Kenya where he’s laying a hand on a leper while restoring sight to a blind man with the other, with a freshly plucked leaf of arugula in his pocket.

That statue is truly comedy gold. Thank you people of Indonesia. Thank you.
WarEagle01 on December 10, 2009 at 6:02 PM
Meanwhile in Iran, they’ve erected three bronze statues of Reagan, Bush and Clinton, all being hung. Every hour they burst into flames through gas outlets on their bodies.

Indonesia, so that’s where Obama is from.
Tommy_G on December 10, 2009 at 6:07 PM
If that butterfly flaps it’s wings, we’ll feel it all the way over here!!
exhelodrvr on December 10, 2009 at 6:07 PM
If they put up that statue in the US, by the time ’12 rolls around it would suffer the same fate as Saddam’s statue.
Lou Budvis on December 10, 2009 at 6:08 PM
That video is comedy gold, too.
So, basically, some dopey Americans pawned a statue off on Indonesia. The kids waving the flags didn’t look too enthused, and there was a crowd that was well into the tens! perhaps even scores of onlookers (for you Boy King fans).
reaganaut on December 10, 2009 at 6:08 PM
Well, if they sour on him as well, all they need to do is chisel out his name and keep the statue.
ThePrez on December 10, 2009 at 6:08 PM

Awaiting the day it is pulled down by a tank, and the people of start slapping the face of the statue with their slippers.

I just don’t get these Marxist/Commie societies all around the world!
After all the freakin statues they’ve pulled down you’d think they’d get a clue and stop building new ones!
