Video: Statue of global savior unveiled in Indonesia
posted at 5:40 pm on December 10, 2009 by Allahpundit
A manger would have been better, but it’ll do. I don’t see the logic of depicting him as a child, though. Granted, he was a kid when he lived there, but if you’re building an attraction to a world celebrity, ideally you’d want it as recognizable, i.e. attractive, as possible. Unless you’re standing close enough to read the plaque on the base, this looks like some generic tribute to the spirit of youth or springtime or whatever.
Also: The butterfly’s a bit much.

Well, it works for Jesus….

It’s not his campaign symbol or his faux nobel peace prize . . . Anyone familiar with the symbol on the amulet/juju hanging around the statues neck?
heroyalwhyness on December 10, 2009 at 6:47 PM
How many jobs would it create/save…
if the Democrats ordered there to be one such statue…
in every American city?
Track-A-'Crat on December 10, 2009 at 6:48 PM
The freaking arms hang down to his knees, not very proportionate
thomasaur on December 10, 2009 at 6:48 PM
Wasn’t Obama rather “husky” as a kid?
RedRedRice on December 10, 2009 at 6:52 PM
Is it just me, or is there something really unseemly about building statues to people who are still alive?
JohnGalt23 on December 10, 2009 at 6:53 PM
God, this is just sick.
Funny how easily people all over the world can be brainwashed by the media.
RedbonePro on December 10, 2009 at 6:57 PM
When I look at it, I’m hearing music in the background: “And He shall reign forever and ever
HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH!”

sawbuck on December 10, 2009 at 6:57 PM
oh yeah, his ONLY accomplishment was….?
RedbonePro on December 10, 2009 at 6:57 PM
Can’t see the video from the PC I’m on, so I can only go by the snapshot on the main page… but I think it looks more like Gerald Ford.
malclave on December 10, 2009 at 6:58 PM
Is it me or does the arms look too long? The hands look like they would be in line with his knees. Something’s a little off with that statue (besides the fact that it’s a statue of Obama of course).
mizflame98 on December 10, 2009 at 7:01 PM
And the reason they made a statue of Obama was for his accomplishments in ????????
MeAlice on December 10, 2009 at 7:05 PM
JUST ANOTHER THING WE CAN POKE FUN OF WHEN WE TALK TO OBAMA LOVING LEFTISTS
ONLY DICTATORS AND DESPOTES HAVE STATUTES BUILD FOR THEM DURING THEIR LIFETIME
HOW FITTING

I wish I could laugh or roll my eyes at this stuff, but I find it all really scary.
RightWinged on December 10, 2009 at 7:09 PM
I wonder what they’ll erect in Kenya.
Cicero43 on December 10, 2009 at 7:11 PM
Where are the tsunamis when your really need them?
Western_Civ on December 10, 2009 at 7:12 PM
Gag me! Just what Obama needs. Another drooling bunch of groupies, who build shrines to a false god, giving Obama’s already over extended ego, another reason for more nose in the air narcissism.
capejasmine on December 10, 2009 at 7:13 PM
So I’m guessing when Obama is leaves office there will be a huge party and the statue will be torn down?
Right?
Ingenue on December 10, 2009 at 7:22 PM
JohnGalt23 asked:
The Indonesian statue of Obama isn’t the first, nor the last.
heroyalwhyness on December 10, 2009 at 7:28 PM
It would make a few jobs. If they wanted us to bow down and worship when we passed it, it would make a lot of jobs to keep us fanatics from tearing down false idols every night.
chemman on December 10, 2009 at 7:31 PM
Well, at least the ears are proportioned.
mizflame98 on December 10, 2009 at 7:41 PM
Was this necessary for Indonesia? Does this benefit them? Or is this another attempt to build up Obama?
Sometimes I wonder if Obama sits back and sees this stuff and thinks “WTF?!” No one can be this narcissistic.
vai2112 on December 10, 2009 at 7:48 PM
Creative, chemman, I like it.

Moments before smacking the butterfly dead, and then bragging about his lightning-fast, pre-teen reflexes.

on that note, it’s probably worth it to keep up on lgf’s “hot air comments of the day posts” and assume that the handles featured therein are moby sockpuppets for the liztards who get the hat tip at the bottom of the post.
granted, few of the comments he cherry-picks are convincing examples of the types of “hate” he frames them in, and some of the handles are familiar posters, but we know that charles supports moby-trolling hotair, as it has happened before, and i’ve noticed at least one clumsy moby recently.
expect unfamiliar posters to say abject stiff in threads like these and call them out.
and tip allah and ed. to charles’ moral shock, most bloggers see their role as posting content and aren’t as control-obcessed with regard to their comment threads as charles.
eh on December 10, 2009 at 8:55 PM
He’s still “si kecil”, dalam pendapatku.
Also, Indonesian butterflies are amazing.
TexasDan on December 10, 2009 at 8:58 PM
Did you catch from the second video that the butterfly represents “hope?”
Not to nitpick, but aren’t they a better metaphor for “change?”
TexasDan on December 10, 2009 at 9:04 PM
the amulet around the statues neck bears an image resembling a Hawaiian petroglyph representation of man.
heroyalwhyness on December 10, 2009 at 9:04 PM
The real size one will be in Babylon.
Schadenfreude on December 10, 2009 at 9:12 PM
To complete this scene we need lots of pigeons and a least a couple of drunk guys whizzin’ on him.
ZeeMI on December 10, 2009 at 9:37 PM
Why as a child? They wish to inform Indonesian children that you don’t have to be an American citizen to become an American president. Even an Indonesian child can do it; he can dream it, go to the U.S. go to the ‘right’ schools, make the ‘right’ connections, and land in the White House, no executive experience necessary. Simple. So, it’s the American dream for foreigners. Good night, kids, go on and dream a little dream.
SilentWatcher on December 10, 2009 at 10:32 PM
The butterfly was quoting koranic verses to him
royzer on December 10, 2009 at 10:41 PM
When I become dictator, I’m going to JDAM that statue.

I think it will be Golden Phallus in Kenya.
It’s a Kenyan Socialist Phallus which gave the seed called Obama.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Seriously, we now have a Nimrod in our midst! Will Smith’s bruhahah is just the start of the illusion.
Brace yourselves … they are trying coin another FDR, but this one is worse.

The Golden Calf. Jesus Christ please help us………..
adamsmith on December 11, 2009 at 9:02 AM
Not as grand and imposing as that statue of the Butcher of Baghdad, but should experience a similar fate. Imagine all the 3rd place olympic medals that could be melted down to form.

The public acclimatization continues. The stage is being set. Soon Antichrist will come onto the world scene and expect your worship. Are you ready for the tribulation that is about to kick in shortly?
apacalyps on December 11, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Wha? Where’s the unicorn? He was brought to us on the back of a magical unicorn on a rainbow of hope and change, right?
Heftyjo on December 11, 2009 at 4:56 PM
Decent, God-fearing people have no idea what you mean by that. I thought it was damned funny.
