Quotes of the day

posted at 10:20 pm on December 10, 2009 by Allahpundit

“If every great cause requires an even greater villain, Democratic greens have found one in Sarah Palin

“‘Before Sarah Palin writes a book, she should try reading a few,’ said Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.), who followed up with a series of peer-reviewed reports on rising sea levels, air temperatures and ocean acidity.

“Palin’s position is ‘worse than one of denial – it’s one of defeatism,’ added Inslee, echoing earlier comments by former Vice-President Al Gore…

“Asked if Obama should stand up to Palin personally, Inslee shot back: ‘There are those in the birther movement encouraged by the former governor of Alaska who don’t even believe he’s president.’”

***
“Don’t be fooled about climate science. In April, 1994 — long after scientists had clearly demonstrated the addictive quality and devastating health impacts of cigarette smoking — seven chief executives of major tobacco companies denied the evidence, swearing under oath that nicotine was not addictive.

“Now, the American public is again being subjected to those kinds of denials, this time about global climate change. While former Alaska governor Sarah Palin wrote in her Dec. 9 op-ed that she did not deny the ‘reality of some changes in climate,’ she distorted the clear scientific evidence that Earth’s climate is changing, largely as a result of human behaviors. She also badly confused the concepts of daily weather changes and long-term climate trends when she wrote that ‘while we recognize the occurrence of these natural, cyclical environmental trends, we can’t say with assurance that man’s activities cause weather changes.’ Her statement inaccurately suggests that short-term weather fluctuations must be consistent with long-term climate patterns. And it is the long-term patterns that are a cause for concern.”

Well I am kind of a moderate Green Hatter which allows me, for political expediency, to flip over the Winker camp when the need arises. I have constituents to worry about and they need representation. You know how these political games are played.

I did like the Winker pic tho.

“Asked if Obama should stand up to Palin personally, Inslee shot back: ‘There are those in the birther movement encouraged by the former governor of Alaska who don’t even believe he’s president.’”

I believe she’s stated that Obama’s the President several times.

As for the birth certificate, she’s also right — voters have the right to ask. The Obama campaign fed the birthers by its behavior in waiting more than a week to produce the document when questions of Obama’s qualifications for the Presidency first emerged. You’d think they would have had a better response than a shoot-back on McCain’s birth in the Canal Zone.

[Note: I'm not a birther. The issue was settled for me by proof of his mother's American citizenship, which makes him a natural born citizen no matter where in the world he was born -- including Hawaii.]

Then again, she could always show up wearing a hockey helmet.

Keep on posting; just because a comment isn’t responded to every time, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t being read and considered. Some of these threads have gotten huge of late, and the popular ones move so fast that many good comments seem to get lost in the shuffle.

I like Sarah allot, but I don’t know if she can ultimately weather the storm. However, anyone who gets the radical lefties so riled up demands my attention. Why does she drive the socialists bonkers? Why is the world of the MSM and lefty pols hurt coming down on her so hard? It is amazing to behold. I remember that they did the same thing to Reagan back in the ’70s and ’80s. Do they fear her so much?

shorebird on December 11, 2009 at 1:37 AM

Allah, you never cease to amaze me. You continually find new and creative ways to trash Sarah. You KNOW that wink photo pisses everyone off. But forget that.

Where in God’s name (yes GOD’S) did you drag up that crappy audio from the Laura Ingraham Show?

I mean it’s not like there isn’t quality audio to be had, like you can listen to here:

http://thespeechatimeforchoosing.wordpress.com/2009/12/10/sarah-palin-to-help-laura-ingraham%E2%80%99s-charity-auction-for-the-military/

You know, I enjoy Hot air, or I wouldn’t be here. But this little passive aggressive stuff gets old.

Now, on to the red meat.

Sarah has these people going insane.

She’s got people lining up and sleeping outdoors in freezing weather just to get 10 seconds with her. Who else can do that?

The biggest mistake Obama ever made was sending Pete Rouse and the rest of his thugs out to mess with her.

Had they left her alone she would have been quite restrained. Now she’s all out there, no holds barred.

She truly has nothing to lose and absolutely everything to gain. On the other hand, her critics have everything at stake. I bet they wish now she was still Governor!

I posted this idea on my blog: Some sharp promoter needs to get her and Al Gore to debate on pay-per-view TV. Give all of the money to the Wounded Warriors, or some other charity that benefits the military. Sarah would be there in a heart beat.

Absolutely everyone in the world with a TV and cable access would tune in to watch. Who knows how many millions that deal would bring in.

Sarah could destroy the global warming hoax in just one debate. Al Gore, Obama, and the rest would be done.

It’ll never happen. there are trillions of dollars at stake here, for those like Gore, Obama and thousands of others who stand to profit off of carbon trading and selling the implements of this hoax. the “green” products and services.

But it would be awesome to watch.

Is “raw data” something like milk which should be “homogenized” before consumption?
Or
Is “raw data” something like meat which should be thoroughly “cooked” before consumption?
Or
Is “raw data” like produce , which should be tossed into trash and “destroyed” if it doesn’t look pretty ?

They fear her because she’s the COLD water on the socialist party. She’s the bug in the ointment. The crasher of the Left party.

Obama’s 1st term was supposed to be a party. I know because I’ve been around lefties for years and last year was like setting up for this years party.
She is threatening to turn the tables over; everything that the libs have been wishing and waiting for for the past 40 years is possible now and SHE’S ruining it all.
That’s why they hate her.

Death panels will go down in history. It’ll be the phrase that destroyed any chance of real Liberal health care passing. Something will pass but libs won’t like it very much.

It’s like Obama and the dems have been fooling this country for a year, telling people nonsense and here’s this woman from AK telling us what’s what.
THAT WASN’T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!

So they are busy trying desperately to convince this country she’s an idiot, liar, and crazy person so the idea can be planted in the people’s mind, she’s unelectable! stay away!
Allah is part of that too.

It’s very true the passive-aggressive angle is getting old and tired.

Palin aside, something has been bugging me all week about this Copenhagen conference. While the leaders of the world party it up and the left plays revolution in the streets, people are being beaten and attacked on the streets of Iran for the hope of freedom. I find this divergence in priorities quite offensive. More to the point, if an ounce of the effort being wasted over warming was turned on the Mullah’s, might that save some peoples lives?

In April, 1994 — long after scientists had clearly demonstrated the addictive quality and devastating health impacts of cigarette smoking — seven chief executives of major tobacco companies denied the evidence, swearing under oath that nicotine was not addictive.”

Which is why, when you’re having a debate about such issues, you discard the opinions of those who have a financial interest in the outcome. People like Al Gore and the CRU scientists who get grant money to study these things. The peer in “peer-review” does not mean “people who have the same stake in the outcome as I do.”

The issue, oh great and unread blind one, is simply, Barack Obama Sr. was a subject of the British Empire at the time of Barry Dunham’s birth. Kenya was a British colony that year. Barack as the father would make Barry a British subject by default. That POCrap C.O.L.B. has been proven to be NOT Barry’s. Can you say FRAUD?

Sarah is not the one confused. There are long-term cyclical changes in climate and have been for billions of years. I just read the Leshner Editorial referenced above.
He keeps going on a “consensus,” and “a vast majority” of “scientific organizations;”

This may fool some folks, but;
1. Consensus is not science.
2. Science needs provable, reproducible experiments to produce facts.
3. Absent # 2, there is no fact, only belief.

By the standards being used by the AGW supporters, you could make any claim at all (as long as you had a bunch of people making it, thereby having a “consensus,”) and it would have to be accepted as fact.

So:
A. The earth is flat.
B. The sun revolves around the earth.
C. Apollo drives his chariot across the sky each day, to bring the sun.

All of these were once “consensus” positions, disproved by science.

AGW “science” is up for peer review….unless the “peers” disagree with AGW….in which case the “peers” are not peers…or are not qualified to comment.

In other words, “truth” has been copyrighted by the church of Global Warming, and they will sue you if you dare to try to use it without their permission.

Ok, I’ll play.

Ah-h-h-h, off-shore lows and high winds? (What do I win?)
