Quotes of the day
posted at 10:30 pm on December 9, 2009 by Allahpundit
“The response to my op-ed by global warming alarmists has been interesting. Former Vice President Al Gore has called me a ‘denier’ and informs us that climate change is ‘a principle in physics. It’s like gravity. It exists.’
“Perhaps he’s right. Climate change is like gravity – a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it.
“However, he’s wrong in calling me a ‘denier.’ As I noted in my op-ed above and in my original Facebook post on Climategate, I have never denied the existence of climate change. I just don’t think we can primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes.
“Former Vice President Gore also claimed today that the scientific community has worked on this issue for 20 years, and therefore it is settled science. Well, the Climategate scandal involves the leading experts in this field, and if Climategate is proof of the larger method used over the past 20 years, then Vice President Gore seriously needs to consider that their findings are flawed, falsified, or inconclusive.
“Vice President Gore, the Climategate scandal exists. You might even say that it’s sort of like gravity: you simply can’t deny it.”

Maybe. With Liberals you either have to support a Woman’s right to choose without reservation or else you want every woman pumping out a child a year. Same deal with Healthcare, either support Government run healthcare or you support slavery. And the Environment, support Crap and Tax or you want the poor Islanders to be drowned.

Wow now there is conviction. I think something easy can be done. Adapt. It works every time, and is much less costly.

The fewer pieces of “helpful advice” Palin gets beforehand, the better she expresses herself. Reagan was a bit like that too. When they tried to pump him full of information, he couldn’t communicate it nearly as well as when he just used his own commonsense and his own words.

What a 12 year old-brained, loopy, morbid, cornball nutjob Al Gore is, ~and in verse even more so.
“Neptune’s bones dissolve…”
That’s one bad “In the Wake of Poseidon” pastiche ~with a larding of Jim Morrison’s “Horse Latitudes” thrown on for a sopppy topping.
(Verse in support of any government policy always reminds me of Mao’s creepy “poetry” … odd, anachronistic musings abouf cranes and mountain rivers… when his prose dictates were killing millions of unnoticed humans.)

thphilli on December 10, 2009 at 12:06 AM
You want something to be done right now, well don’t you think we should have proof of what is exactly causing it?
We don’t know for sure. How can you solve something when you don’t know what’s making it happen for sure.
I’m all in favor of R&D in hydrogen fueled cars and other energies being tapped, but that’s again, just common sense.
When I go to a major city that I’m near by I can see the dirty air hanging over it. If we had cleaner cars and made it corporate friendly (not that hard) to make them and made them so people wanted to buy them, the air would clean up.
That’s something that Sarah Palin has been saying for as long as she’s been in nat’l attention.
We don’t know for sure what is causing the temps to rise, but we gotta fix it NOW. That’s not a very responsible way to go about it, honestly.
Making cars cleaner is a no-brainer, but will that prevent any gw from happening ever again? Doubtful.
You guys who criticize her response (it was right on), seem to be missing the political angle to the world is burning up as we SPEAK! crowd.
B Man on December 10, 2009 at 12:06 AM
At what cost? How much money are you willing to see spent to move us to Green technology? How many jobs are you willing to sacrifice?
There are real reasons rooted in physics, engineering, and economics why we never created an economy based on windmills and solar panels. The simple fact is that they are not as efficient or cost-effective as other energy sources. So you can’t switch w/out it costing you something.
How much are you willing to spend, and if the answer is “several trillion dollars”, don’t you think you need a stronger evidence than what has been provided for by scientists fudging their data? Doesn’t it worry you that for such a price tag, you are relying on climate models that have not been able to accurate predict the last ten years of temperature data?

Actually it is simpler then that…like a monkey on the end of the organ grinders chain…the grinder plays the music and the liberal monkey dances.
They now have the facts that GW used falsified data, and kept peer review out…the actual emails and facts stating that…yet they will still dance to the music.
It is absolutely impossible to include 30 million people into health care and not have it cost more…yet they dance to the music.
It is absolutely impossible for the government to come under budget for any major proposal…yet they dance to the music.
It has been proven that many of their abortion “doctors” have taken viable lives, with forceps and let the baby die, a viable baby…yet they dance to the music.
ACORN, yet they dance…Unqualified cabinet members, yet they dance…a president who has spent more time worrying a fighting a radio talk show host then a war, yet they dance.
I am telling you it is simple…whatever they are told, they accept…they are the monkey at the end of the chain with their little greedy paws out…

Then in my 20′s it was global warming and how we were ruining the planet.
Now, it climate change but we are still ruining the planet.
Is there climate change yes. It it man made, I am not so sure and having scientists lie about data and destroy anyone who doesn’t follow them tells me they are full of crap.
By the way if Al Gore cares about the planet why wasn’t his lights out on the Lights out night?
Gracelynn on December 10, 2009 at 12:12 AM
When I was a kid, we learned that there was an ice age once upon a time. What caused it to change from ice age to where we are now? This was 10s if not 100s of thousands of years ago. Clearly this wasn’t the work of the industrial revolution.
There is so much natural phenomena going on that’s so much more powerful than anything man can create, it staggers the mind. The changes in our weather patterns caused by volcanic eruptions and solar flares, have infinitely more impact than anything man does.
If we want to focus time and money on things that will really make a short term and long term difference, how about putting some money towards keeping the Asian carp at bay?

HAHAHAHAHAHA! You liberals crack me up…man up and say you were wrong, and take up the next “environmental” problem.
right2bright on December 10, 2009 at 12:14 AM
The question is not Green or Not Green but what kind of green. Are we Green on the outside but red on the inside? And how far green? Some advocate going so far as to get rid of the Industrial Revolution.
Are we going to merely replace polluting systems with non polluting systems or are we going to reorder society to the point of Population controls, limits on the number of Children you can bring into this world and rationing of resources based on a person’s value to the collective.
If you seriously like the idea of reordering society (actually it would be ordering society as there was no ordering of American society in the first place) then this place really is not for you.

Ann, IO think everyone would agree it is a good thing to reduce the impact we leave on the earth. Recycle, reduce, reuse was really off to a good start – until the AGW fear mongers hijacked the ‘Green’ movement.
The 3 R’s have basically been put on hold. Recycling programs are no longer active in many communities. Participation in the 3 R’s flat lined because nobody really cared about them anymore.
The Polar bears were being wiped out (actually their numbers are growing) and the world was going to burst into flames if we didn’t start taxing the wealthy nations and giving that money to poor nations.
….and the entire AGW movement is political at this point. Science is being forced to fit what the warm mongers want it to say so they can perform their end game of wealth redistribution.
Do you think there is ANY mechanism in place to return unfairly taxed monies if it is proven beyond all doubt there is no man made warming going on? Of course not!
Stop thinking that the left has a monopoly on wanting to be ‘Green’ and the right wanting to pollute the earth to the point of destruction.
Those are the extremes the media want you to believe.
Sarah Palin saw first hand what happened after Exxon Valdez. If you think that didn’t affect her and Todd greatly you are severely misinformed.
Todd has had a great influence on Sarah, and Todd’s Yup’ik upbringing taught him GREAT respect for the earth and all it’s bounties. I really don’t think many politicians understand these issues better than Sarah.

Just got back from the Palin book signing in Reno. What a great experience!
The people in line were great – so the 2 hours flew by. There was an older couple from Alaska just ahead me. He ran a fishing boat and had taken John McCain, Ted Stevens, Emperor Akahito’s son, Charlie Sheen and many others out fishing.
He also knew the Palin’s personally, so it was a real interesting dynamic being in that immediate group when we met Sarah and Todd.
They recognized the Old Salt, and greeted us all so warmly. Being from Minnesota I apologized for the idiot at the MOA. That elicited a hearty chuckle from Todd, and Sarah’s eyes lit up and thanked me for my concern.
Then as I left the signing area I realized Sarah’s parents were observing and they too were just as pleasant and approachable as could be.
I was already a big Palin supporter – but that event was like meeting family I hadn’t seen in a long time.
She’s the real deal, folks. Get used to it if you are still on the sidelines. Buy her book. It will give you a whole new understanding of what makes Sarah tick.
(makes a great Christmas gift too)

Ann, I’m not going to label you as anything – but how can you not be concerned over the most prominent scientists pushing global warming have fudged their data to make it fit their hypothesis?
I spent over a decade as a research assistant – and I am stunned by the blatant fudging of data, the discussing of said fudging, and the coordinated efforts among this group of scientists to fudge their data.
Climategate is without a doubt the biggest scientific scandal in the last 100 years. It is similar in nature to the ‘Lysenkoism’ that was practiced in Russia during the 1930′s-1960′s.
While the rest of the world was embracing Mendellian genetics and the gene as the unit of inheretence – Lysenko was promoting a theory of ‘acquired’ traits being passed down to offspring (ie you cut the tail off a mouse and the mouse will have tail-less offspring.
This set the Russians back decades, and it amplified the hunger problems in Russia during these trying years. Obviously crop yields will suffer if you are puruing a flawed theory.
This type of scientific shenanigans is completely unacceptable. The fact that these scientists research were some of the leading works (most notably Mann’s hockey stick) being cited by the warm mongers is very alarming.
The entire effort to analyze climate change has been flawed from the beginning. There really is no option but to start over, and ensure there is equal representation on both sides of the debate. All data needs to be released publicly for independent verification.
I am not even getting into the hijacking of the peer review process of the targeted removal of editors not on board with the AGW movement.
From start to finish this debate has been rigged. The debate needs to be ‘overcharged’ – er excuse me, ‘reset’ (a little translation error there.)

Ha! I got in line at 1:00 and got my books signed by 3:00. i had planned to go a just watch for a bit, but once I saw how fast the line was moving, I took a chance and bought 2 more books and got in line. I heard she signed 3000 books that day. I was nervous walking up the steps, but once she started talking to me, I felt like I was taking to a neighbor or someone on the street. She really connects. I just wish I had more than 10 seconds.

Likewise, I hadn’t been very impressed with her in the past; but if she keeps up this level of fire and accuracy on the bogus liberal agenda, I might have to start actually liking her. That won’t be fun.

My apologies if this has been asked and answered, but is there any particular reason why you believe that the deletion and falsification of scientific data (by the scientists who work with said data), that was used to promulgate the AGW theory and thus the current movement to severely curtail the use of fossil fuels (which would likely result in a catastrophic crippling of the economies of industrialized nations), is not important?

Bizarre? NOBODY can win a “Bizarre” contest against the self-appointed, science-challenged “greenies”!!
Greenies said Alcohol is “green”. Result: Each gallon of alcohol takes more than a gallon of gasoline to produce, and cars using Ethanol get 33% LESS mileage!!! Sounds BROWN to me.
Greenies said twisty light bulbs are “green”. Result: None of them last as long as they were supposed to. Light output is too low and in the wrong spectrum for reading. Twisty light bulbs are hazardous and cost about $1300 in cleanup and disposal fees if they break!!! Sounds BROWN to me.
Then there are the proposed electric cars which they claim are “green”. Well, electricity has to be generated, and the most efficient way to generate it is with OIL and/or COAL and/or NUCLEAR energy plants. But the greenies won’t allow nuclear (no valid reason), and they want us to ignore the fact that for every electric car on the road, there is a smokestack (!!!) involved in generating the electricity. Efficiency of these cars is lower, because of the extra energy conversions and power line loss. And there is a huge battery disposal problem: about 1400 pounds of batteries have to be junked every 3 years!!! Sounds BROWN to me!!
CONCLUSION: “Greenies” are people with little or no scientific knowledge of the subjects they discuss (although they memorize and solemnly pronounce scientific-sounding words to make us think otherwise), no experience in the fields they discuss (they view practical knowledge as a bad thing and wear their ignorance proudly), and completely devoid of common sense. They have no ability to examine actual evidence, and are incapable of conducting a rational argument. Thus it is no surprise that all of their suggestions are silly and counterproductive.
“Green” is the new “BROWN”.

Good analogy. Piltdown man would’ve worked just as well but kudos tying the AGW crowd to the disaster that was the Soviet Union.
