Quotes of the day

posted at 10:30 pm on December 9, 2009 by Allahpundit

“The response to my op-ed by global warming alarmists has been interesting. Former Vice President Al Gore has called me a ‘denier’ and informs us that climate change is ‘a principle in physics. It’s like gravity. It exists.’

“Perhaps he’s right. Climate change is like gravity – a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it.

“However, he’s wrong in calling me a ‘denier.’ As I noted in my op-ed above and in my original Facebook post on Climategate, I have never denied the existence of climate change. I just don’t think we can primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes.

“Former Vice President Gore also claimed today that the scientific community has worked on this issue for 20 years, and therefore it is settled science. Well, the Climategate scandal involves the leading experts in this field, and if Climategate is proof of the larger method used over the past 20 years, then Vice President Gore seriously needs to consider that their findings are flawed, falsified, or inconclusive.

“Vice President Gore, the Climategate scandal exists. You might even say that it’s sort of like gravity: you simply can’t deny it.”

Now you clearly see AP that Sarah Palin will never be a tool of Al Gore.

The church says the earth is flat, but I know that it is round, for I have seen the shadow on the moon, and I have more faith in a shadow than in the church.
- Ferdinand Magellan

If Ferdinand Magellan was alive today he would probably say “The Church of Global Warming says the earth is dangerously heating up, but I know that it is not, for I have seen the snow and ice and have felt their bitter cold, and I have more faith in snow and ice than in the Church of Global Warming, and it’s High Priests.”

Global warming is regarded by the sheeple as true, by those who can think for themselves as false and by the power mad and money grubbers as … … useful.
- Seneca the Younger paraphrased

What would be the effect of this Global Warming fraud and coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth. Al Gore and the Global Warming fraudsters and fanatics converted simple changes in the weather into an engine for enslaving mankind to filch wealth and power to themselves. They, in fact, constitute the real Anti-Scientists.

Not at Reno. Stood outside maybe 45 minutes. They had propane heaters spaced every few feet – but they didn’t help much unless you right there.

It wasn’t too bad if you are dressed for it. It was probably another 75 minutes before I got my book signed.

One weird thing – you buy the book – then you surrender it and the book you get back might not even be the same book you bought. No big deal really, unless you get a book someone else mangled (although I think they’d replace it if you asked).

There are only a few votes they make that I disagree with greatly. For the most part they are a tolerable lot to me – and I probably get called a RINO once in a while too (I’m a sometimes crazy mix of Con, Neo-Con and Libertarian).

An insufferable ass is an insufferable ass, of course, of course,
And no one can talk sense to an insufferable ass of course
And especially, of course, if the insufferable ass is the infamous Albert Gore.

Go right to the source and ask the insufferable ass.
He’ll give you the answer that deceivers will endorse.
He’s always on a dissemblers course.
Talk to Albert Gore.

Albert Gore just yakkity yaks a heated Chicken Little streak and wastes your time of day
Does any sane person even believe anymore a thing he has to say?

An insufferable ass is an insufferable ass, of course, of course,
And this one’ll talk in delusional circles til his voice is hoarse.
You never heard of a talking insufferable ass?

Well listen to this.

He is Albert Gore.

CONCLUSION: “Greenies” are people with little or no scientific knowledge of the subjects they discuss (although they memorize and solemnly pronounce scientific-sounding words to make us think otherwise), no experience in the fields they discuss (they view practical knowledge as a bad thing and wear their ignorance proudly), and completely devoid of common sense. They have no ability to examine actual evidence, and are incapable of conducting a rational argument. Thus it is no surprise that all of their suggestions are silly and counterproductive.

It never seems to fail. Whenever I run into a young person that is planning their education in “environmental studies”, I always get excited and say:

“Cool!!! I love the hard sciences! This is where the solutions will be found! What are you going to focus on? Chemistry? Physics? Biology? Engineering?”

By the look on their face, you would think I just farted. And then, the inevitable answers…law, public administration, etc….

I don’t think it is outside the realm of possibility that ethanol production methods could be enhanced to compete with oil. I also don’t think we can grow enough corn to replace oil – and that little fact wasn’t adequately addressed either.

I see no problem with continuing reasonable efforts on ethanol.

I THINK THAT HER BUILDING UP HER BASE HAS PUSHED ME AWAY

What you are referring to is a variable or dynamic that affects the fortunes of viable, emerging politicians and their supporters, the originals and the newcomers.

Politicians, by inference, affirm positions and make decisions that they hope further their political hopes and aspirations. In so doing they first must summon up a political philosophy that they believe in or at least are extremely comfortable with espousing and then they must take that philosophy and use it as an instrument to shape it and transform it into a coherent, viable proposition and argument that attracts as many like-minded folks to your tent.

There are two ways to look at ‘the tent’. Either you are like Mike Huckabee, who today echoed the view the he preferred if ‘the tent’ were seen in more narrow terms and in his words ‘too big a tent will kill the conservative movement’. Call it the exclusivity argument.

Or you favor the more inclusive approach of Sarah Palin who doesn’t require that you sign ‘a purity oath’ to access her tent, that she puts stock in the wisdom of the voter who will come to a conclusion eventually whether his/her needs can be met through a Palin advocacy or candidacy. For example for Sarah Palin, if you are a liberal elite, you are probably never going to embrace her message, but if you believe in fiscal sanity, individual initiative and less government interference in your life although you are pro-choice you are certainly welcome and Sarah will make you feel better about your choice once it has been made. This may explain why so many independents are now moving in the Palin direction and not all of them are pro-life.

Now for Palin supporters, imagine if they were physically under one tent and you could break them down into four basic categories: 1) Christian and social conservatives who are pro-life; 2)fiscal conservatives; 3)national defense conservatives; 4)libertarians. And let’s say before Palin spoke these folks mingled and intermingled and began to exchange comments and enter into discussions in which they found that they were not always in agreement. Would many Palin supporters leave the tent because of their disagreement with some of Palin’s other supporters or would they stay because they determined it was more important to be in congruence with the message espoused by Sarah Palin than with the variety of supporters that Palin was able to attract into her tent.

AnninCA, I hope you reconsider you decision not to vote in 2010 and 2012. Please don’t let any other supporter of Sarah Palin convince you that your gravitation towards Sarah is not as worthy as ours. Our ‘conservative’ support of Sarah is not superior to your possible support for her, if that is what you decide to do. It is like when one visits the Grand Canyon. Some people want to just take pictures of the scenery and absorb its majesty, some want to examine firsthand the geological formations, some want to fly by helicopter to get a birds-eye view of what God crafted over several eons and some just want enjoy an outing with the family. To each his/her own.

I see no problem with continuing reasonable efforts on ethanol.

Mr Purple on December 10, 2009 at 1:11 AM

The main problem with ethanol is that it damages fuel systems. Eythanol is corrosive and absorbs water. It also has less energy than gasolene so it is not as fuel efficient. Also, using a food source for fuel is not the best solution.

It also burns hotter and can damage seals in your engine if your vehicle is not equipped to handle ethanol.

I agree there are some issues with ethanol but many of them can be easily resolved. You don’t need to use corn, there has been some good results from certain grasses as well.

It has a way to go for sure but I’m not at all opposed to a 90/10 blend or whatever we can reasonable attain without the cost skyrocketing or our vehicles being damaged (or our food running out).

Fav quote from her book so far:

“I eat meat. I eat pork chops, thick bacon burgers, and the seared fatty edges of of a medium well done steak. But I especially love moose and caribou. I always remind people from outside our state that there’s plenty of room for all Alaska’s animals…..right next to the mashed potatoes“.

Mr Purple on December 10, 2009 at 1:50 AM

I did read about the global problem of ethanol. US farmers are growing the new cash crop (propped up by the govt) corn for ethanol production. China is the number one importer of soy beans. The US used to supply much of that valued commodity to the hungry Chinese. But no longer. Corn is a sure thing. Now Brazil has filled the void and is shipping mega tons of soybeans to China and China wants more. So…the precious rain forest gets turned into soybean fields.

The liberal hate the rain forest!

Transcribed AlGore Poem:

Once, since September soon
A floating continent
disappears in midnight sun
vapors rise as fevers settle
on an acid sea

As Neptune’s bones dissolve
snow glides from the mountain
ice fathers floods for a season
a hard rain comes quickly

Then dirt is parched
kindling is placed in the forest
for the lightning celebration
unknown creatures take their leave
unmourned

Horsemen ready their stirrups
Passion seeks Heros & friends
The bell of the city on the hill is rung
The shepard cries

The hour of choosing has arrived
Here are your tools

Good grief.

“Volcanoes, swamps, rice paddies, fallen leaves, and even insects and bacteria produce carbon dioxide, as well as methane. According to the journal Science (Nov. 5, 1982), termites alone emit ten times more carbon dioxide than all the factories and automobiles in the world.”

Seven Percent Solution on December 10, 2009 at 12:18 AM

Yes, humanity contributes less than 3% of all CO2. Quit changing the subject.

I will restate the topic: Your statement that a single volcano vents more CO2 into the atmosphere than has all of humanity since the industrial revolution is not even CLOSE to being true.

See, in a lab environment, that’s called a question. In a political environment, it’s called laughably fallacious.

Saltysam on December 10, 2009 at 12:10 AM

No… when I say “No, a single volcano does NOT release more CO2 than humanity throughout history” it does not logically lead to “Oh yeah, So why hasn’t the world been warming consistently since the Industrial Revolution began, oh Educated One?”. That is called a non sequitur. The “question” only relates to what I said in the uneducated imagination of the questioner. Nothing I said implied anything that might lead to that question.

It is actually quite frightening that so many people here think that that particular question made sense. It’s like you all have some sort of weird flowchart that tells you to recite some line here or there, but that it throws you off when someone agrees with you, but takes issue with the scientific illiteracy that generally plagues skeptic arguments on blog comments.

DaveS on December 10, 2009 at 5:13 AM

The volcano example doesn’t matter.

CO2 can’t be separated out from the rest of the atmospheric gases to isolate it as the “culprit” of climate change.
That being said, how much or how little mankind creates isn’t relevant either.

Global warming hasn’t been proven and is in the process of being declared a fraud.
Whether or not “climate change” has been proven to be anything worse than weather and whether or not there’s anything Man can do about it also remains to be proven.

AnninCA on December 9, 2009 at 10:50 PM

Um, no. Judgments or conclusions are OPINIONS. They are made on the basis of facts. Gore and the select group of scientists who have formed their “consensus” (another type of OPINION) have discarded or lost inconvenient facts and manipulated others.

Climate, like all natural phenomena, undergoes change constantly. It is hubris to presume that humans can affect or change a complex system like climate.

Flimflam artists such as Gore have created the false narrative of imminent crisis, a problem to be solved, and only he and those like-minded in this wealth transference game have generated a cash-cow to milk until the next “imminent crisis” comes along.

Theories are only opinions. Valid theories are buttressed by verifiable facts.

I think that it is reasonable to conclude that Sarah Palin gained a lot of solid knowledge through that experience—probably more than Michelle Robinson Obamao learned about competitive sport, sitting on her father’s lap while watching the Olympics.

onlineanalyst on December 10, 2009 at 9:03 AM

Galileo was a denier too! I’m happy to deny what’s false and accept what’s true. If no money were changing hands I could more readily accept what scientists are saying. If you follow the money in the case of AGW however, it leads to falsified data and wrong “conclusions.” Garbage In Garbage Out.

How can Al Gore take this arctic bimbo seriously? 4 crappy colleges in 6 years… Sarah Palin is an idiot.

simplesimon on December 10, 2009 at 7:49 AM

Um, little tardlett. Al Gore flunked out of law school. Al Gore then flunked out of Divinity school. And, little tardlett? How many majors did Sarah Palin flunk out of, little chumplett?

I also don’t think Palin would be so stupid, as to utter…

The north polar ice cap is melting before our very eyes. It’s been the size of the continental United States for most of the last three million years, and now suddenly 40 percent of it is gone and the rest of it is expected to disappear within with five, 10, 15 years.

Hmmm, Mann wiped out the MWP, Gore wipes out all ice ages. But, hey, it’s not like Charles Johnson wouldn’t lap that up, if his favorite PR guy told him it was so, nor any other Obama voter.

CHETRY: And that goes along with what David in Arizona asked you. He wants to know, please tell us what percentage of carbon dioxide is caused by human activity relative to other sources of carbon dioxide.

GORE: Well, the majority of it is caused by human activity

I wonder if Sarah Palin can tell the difference between a “majority” and 3%? We know Al Gore can’t. We know Obama voters can’t. We certainly know the simplelittletardletts that infect these boards, can’t.

And last, but not least

’cause the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees

Al Gore is too much of a pu$$y to ever debate somebody, on his religion of AGW. I wonder if Palin is such a coward, as your typical simple little Democrat?

heh. Of course, anything above an F would make Gore an giant, among his Journalism and Poly Sci major friends.

The other scam is that oil is a finite resource when in fact a body of scientists exist that think the heat of the interior of the earth is constantly breaking down dirt, rock and plant debris and converting it into oil!

Thus the no drill nowhere is just a libtards wetdream to make us all poor and beholdin to the leftist scumbags!

Wonder if all the libbies regret driving her from office in Alaska. Had they left her alone, we wouldn’t hear from Sarah much, as she’d be busy governing her beautiful state.

But no, the libbies aren’t that smart. And for that I’m grateful.

Go get ‘em, Sarah!

Troll response is even more pathetic than usual today. As someone way upthread already said, when their response is along the lines of “she’s too dumb to write this stuff” then you know it was a direct hit.

Met Office, which has spent four days collecting signatures. The initiative is a sign of how worried it is that e-mails stolen from the University of East Anglia are fueling skepticism about man-made global warming at a critical moment in talks on carbon emissions.

One scientist said that he felt under pressure to sign the circular or risk losing work. The Met Office admitted that many of the signatories did not work on climate change..
