Obama warns GOP: Stop trying to frighten Americans about my policies

posted at 8:58 pm on December 9, 2009 by Allahpundit

The highlight, or lowlight, of today’s rare bipartisan meeting with Congress on the economy. Consider that progress: Remember, this is the same guy who once invited “the folks who created the mess” (read: Republicans, and only Republicans) to stop talking and get out of his way.

President Barack Obama told House Republican leaders to “stop trying to frighten the American people” even as he and Democrats said they see a possibility for bipartisan cooperation on job creation legislation.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters that Obama made the admonition during a bipartisan meeting at the White House on Wednesday, producing a chart to show Republicans that “things are a lot better.”…

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) pushed back on Obama’s request for an end to Republicans’ scare tactics by saying that Obama’s policies have led to a hiring freeze, and the GOP is simply telling constituents what is happening.

“[E]mployers are sitting there and they’re frozen because they don’t know what’s really going to happen here,” Boehner said. “And the president wants to blame us for informing the American people about what’s happening here and how it will affect them, but it’s not what we’re doing; it’s the policies that they’re promoting here in Washington.”

Remember when he made this same accusation about health care? It’s amazing how effective he seems to think the GOP is in shifting public opinion considering that every last poll taken this year shows congressional Republicans less trusted and less popular than both congressional Democrats and The One himself. But never mind that. Since he wants to talk about fearmongering, riddle me this: Is there any domestic initiative undertaken by the White House thus far that hasn’t been premised explicitly on looming catastrophe? The stimulus was needed to defibrillate a dying economy, requiring $787 billion to be pushed out the door ASAP; ObamaCare had to be taken up right away because, supposedly, the health-care industry is in a “crisis” that can’t wait another moment to be solved (remember, he wanted a bill passed by August, before any debate had taken place); cap and trade is coming soon because if we don’t dial down emissions immediately, we’ll pass a climatic “tipping point” and the planet will melt. In fact, the only policy items he’s acted on with less-than-peak urgency are … Iran and Afghanistan, one of which he dithered over for months and the other of which he’s still dithering over. I guess there’s, ahem, less to be frightened about in those two cases.

Exit question: Does he seriously think it’s the GOP’s fault that Americans are terrified about the economy? Or is he just doing what he does best?

I’m just commenting on the article, which does come from media reports.

However, I am connecting the dots, from the attack on Rush, to Fox, to Gallup today, and now the GOP.

He’s going to work up a theme here based on victimhood.

Actually, that does tend to work with the public. It’s certainly in keeping with his same strategy in the Dem primary. He was losing until he played that hand in SC.

I’m not 100% certain Osama Obama is carbon-based.

My message to him: the fear comes from having a totalitarian, America-hating creep in the White House, one who acts as if his sole missions in life are to 1) destroy the USA and 2) party hearty with his tight buds.

Stop palling around with terrorists, stop bad-mouthing your country, stop trying to destroy the economy and quit spitting on the Constitution.

Those, O Chicago Jesus, are the things that inspire fear.

Your impeachment and a return to sanity in D.C. will work a marvelous cure.

Same story, different location.

That’s going to be his drumbeat into the next election. He didn’t fail. The GOP made him fail.

It’s an extension of the Bush theme. I should have figured it out back when he attacked Rush. We all thought that was sort of silly.

No, it wasn’t silly. That’s his campaign theme being developed.

I get it now.

Could be his M.O. as he has been successful at his Affirmative Action and guilt tripping in the past. He could try to start a race riot with his “da man is putting me down crap”, but it won’t work. These far leftist policies are all his and Affirmative Action gave Pinnochio the benefit of the doubt once it will not allow him total destruction of the American way of life.

You can either be a leader or a victim; you can’t be both. Bambi unwittingly is telling us who he is.

PackerBronco on December 9, 2009 at 9:18 PM

When you see the victim come out, the games over and you’ve lost, even if your ahead at the time, without a major attitude change its’ game over.

Pinnochio is toast and as his approval numbers tumble he will get more vindictive more hurtfull and go all out to disrespect our allies and our institutions, to destroy the country that is so unfair. He may be there now, but is just hiding it fairly well.

Jeff2161 on December 9, 2009 at 9:46 PM

Nice takedown, Allah.

He tried staying in campaign mode, but you just can’t do that forever from the hottest seat on the planet. You can maintain quite a massive illusion long enough as a candidate to win an election. You can’t maintain illusions of that magnitude when you have the responsibility to actually govern effectively, and you are under constant scrutiny for an extended period of time. After a while, not even the slobbering adoration of the besotted MSM will overcome the realities.

The charades are becoming more and more apparent, even to those who bought into Axelrod’s and Obama’s BS long enough to vote for the charlatan. The problem they face now is that they sold Obama to America as a moderate. Obama is governing from the far left with a brigade of buffoons in the Congress and Senate making things worse. And he is governing incompetently to boot. The folks who didn’t bother to study up on Obama aren’t going to blame themselves for not doing their homework. They are going to blame Obama for lying to them. Without actual accomplishments that benefit the country, he has nothing to counterbalance the anger of the irresponsible deceived.

PackerBronco on December 9, 2009 at 9:47 PM

I don’t think “credibility” is terribly important to Obama. His handlers know our side doesn’t find him credible on anything and the idiots on the Left are too stupid to care anyway.

The wedge has been driven right down the middle. I have a hard time imagining a scenario whereby Obama makes any amends with the half of this Country he belittles, scolds and cries about on a daily basis.

Personally, as a credible, respectable President, he’s dead to me.

AnninCA on December 9, 2009 at 9:38 PM

While his “pity party, IMA victim” schtick may have been marginally effective at taking down the Clinton’s in SC, the distinction is that he’s no longer a candidate but the POTUS – with both houses of Congress and large margins of seats. Kind of tough to argue that the oppo party is holding you back when they, well, can’t. This strategy may work with his base, but it opens him up to the accusation that he’s a candy@ss to the general public. IF (big IF here) the GOP ever grows a pair and starts to push his buttons with effective ridicule, he’ll implode, which will then reinforce the meme that he’s a, you guessed it, candy@ss. Believe or not, he’d be better off getting buried in the midterms so that he could then at least have a better argument that the oppos are holding up his plans (ala Clinton).

Oh, yeah. Then there’s that.

Dear ObaMao; The American people are already frightened about your policies, and the GOP members in Congress are doing their jobs by representing what their constituency thinks. The American people can think for themselves; they don’t need to be told what is good for them.

Dang AP, great analysis. Healthcare NOW. Cap and Trade NOW. Current wars…. THEY CAN WAIT. We must be deliberate… what a freaking tool.

Hog Wild on December 9, 2009 at 10:55 PM

The scare-tactics accusation can get in line with the racist accusation. Neither intimidates me anymore because I’m heard them so many times from Obama and Dems.

Obama now has a boy-who-cried-wolf problem.

And the real wolves are getting ready to maul him.

BuckeyeSam on December 9, 2009 at 11:10 PM

Not to much more you can add to Allah’s brutal take down of our Paparazzi President and his latest crybaby routine.

Looks like “Hope and Change” on those Obama bumper stickers should instead read “Whine and blame Bush”……

This is what happens when a political party has no clue as to what it is doing and the electorate starts to notice it.

Blame and demonize your opponents (Republicans) who happen to have NO POWER on the HILL.

To think that just several months ago, liberals were singing as loud as they could about how Obama was “going to change the world”.

Now their Whiner and Chief is relegated to crying about how mean everybody else is and can’t even go to the bathroom without his teleprompter.

Liberals are an absolute joke!!!

President Barack Obama told House Republican leaders to “stop trying to frighten the American people”

Response to Herr Obama

When Bozo Obama gets nothing but a burn on his face
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We’ll give him a Big Bronx cheer
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The Hotair men will yell and shout
The Hotair ladies they will all turn out
And Obama’s Presidency will be a burnt out ember by November time next year!

The radio waves and blogs will peal with joy
Hurrah! Hurrah!
To turn up the flame on the empty headed and empty handed boy
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The Hotair lads and lassies say
With dripping sarcasm we will strew his way,
And Obama’s Presidency will be a burnt out ember by November time next year!

Get ready for the Jubilee,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We’ll reveal Zero for all to see
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The dunce cap is ready now
To place upon his narcissistic brow
And Obama’s Presidency will be a burnt out ember by November time next year!

Obama: The GOP said something about joining the “Mile High Club” .. I think.

J_Crater on December 10, 2009 at 12:10 AM

We’ve been frightened since Kerry. (at least) Mr. Obama, you are a malevolent force.

Connie on December 10, 2009 at 12:22 AM

True confession here. My ex-husband used to really get upset with me because I’d entertain the kids with all the “local” serial murder stories at dinner.

I still think it was sort of fun.

AnninCA on December 9, 2009 at 10:20 PM

God you are sick…I mean really wacko sick.
Ex-husband, imagine that…telling kids about serial murders, how quaint. You think that was fun? Fun?
Lady…go see a doctor, I mean it, seek out a good psychologist, you are tweaked.

Obama warns GOP: Stop trying to frighten Americans about my policies

GOP to Obama: Americans are frightened because they all see that the Emporer has no Clothes!! Dress up, man up, and shut up…and the world will be much less frightening.

Everybody on the right side of the isle should carve into their desks, President Obama scolded us about the economy 09/12/09.

And refer to it every day after 01/11.

What policies does the sonofabitch have?

Other, of course, than utterly evil ecofascism on the home front and a foreign policy weaker than a vending-machine condom?

….playing ‘the victim’ while simultaneously occupying the most powerful office in the world.
bitsy on December 9, 2009 at 9:53 PM

Lemme fix that up a bit to better reflect reality:

…playing ‘the victim’ while simultaneously occupying what was, until he moved into it, the most powerful office in the world.

LegendHasIt on December 10, 2009 at 2:44 AM

Wow. The One is tough. Nice try Oblahblahdumsie.

Teh One is afraid of his own policies based on fear-mongering.

No Mr. President. You’re the one who is fear mongering. You’re the Real Prophet of Doom.

TheAlamos on December 10, 2009 at 2:48 AM

This just demonstrates what an idiot Obama is.

He thinks that he can “fundamentally change” the United States of America. Well, as President, he can get a good start, especially with 60 votes in the Senate.

There will come a point where Americans draw the line, but I have no idea where that would be. I actually thought we crossed that line 10 or 15 years ago. Maybe it’s too late. Everyone is for free trade and open borders, so tell your kids to learn Spanish or Chinese and hope for the best.
