Oh my: Belief in man-made global warming now under 50%
posted at 6:49 pm on December 7, 2009 by Allahpundit

The good news for warmists: While only 45 percent believe in anthropogenic global warming, more than two-thirds believe that global warming is occurring. Moreover, these numbers are much rosier than the ones Pew got when they polled this question in October, with just 57 percent expressing a belief in GW at the time and a measly 36 percent subscribing to AGW. Even so, with all the buzz over Copenhagen and the effort expended to laugh at Climategate, it’s mind-boggling that the trend is towards skepticism, not belief. How much more hype do they need to manufacture to convince people? Are the statues not scary enough? Is Al Gore’s poetry not poignant enough? What’ll it take?
I know what it’ll take. It’ll take a guy no one trusts in the first place to blithely insist at today’s White House presser (for the second time this week) that “I think everybody is clear on the science.” Case closed. Bring on cap and trade! Click the image to watch.
Update: Ah, missed this in the CNN item at first glance:
The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey, released Monday, indicates that two-thirds of all Americans believe global warming is a proven fact.
That’s down eight points since June of 2008, with views among Democrats holding steady while Republicans’ belief in global warming dropping 11 points…The poll indicates the number who say the U.S. should reduce emissions even if other countries do not follow suit has also dropped, from 66 percent in 2007 to 58 percent today.
“That drop is due to roughly equal changes among Republicans and Democrats, suggesting that economic conditions, rather than political factors, may be at play,” noted Holland.
Just another partisan issue, driven by a reaction to the president? If so, then ironically greens probably would have been better off with McCain in the White House: Republican opposition on this issue wouldn’t have been as dug in.

the polls cheer me: this one indicates that people are waking up & perhaps spreading the news about Climategate. Obama’s sinking #s, the lack of support on Obamacare & the low generic score for Dems–all of these polls make me feel better.
but the Dems & Obama don’t give a rat’s *ss about the polls. they are moving forward without our consent.

“The Charter of Fundamental Rights – legally binding in the UK as of Tuesday, when Lisbon came into force – asserts that the EU has the authority to circumscribe all rights and freedoms. The text was modified after I threw a tantrum in the Daily Telegraph during the drafting process, comparing it to the “general interest” clause used by Fascist regimes to crush dissent in the 1930s.Article 52 now reads: “Subject to the principle of proportionality, limitations may be made only if they are necessary and genuinely meet objectives of general interest recognized by the Union.”Don’t be misled by this inverted wording. What it states is that the EU may indeed limit rights in the “general interest”. In other words, our Magna Carta has been superceded.”

Warning about “climate change” is like warning that the tides come in and out, that the sun goes up and down, that summer is warmer than winter. The only thing constant in all our lives, every aspect of it, is change. Period.
That man is responsible for that change is as arrogant as insisting the sun revolves around the earth, and the king controls it, as “scientists” once tried to tell the people.
It’s funny that they call us flat-earthers, because that used to be accepted and undisputable “science” and to say otherwise was heresy. Why? It made the people who controlled the trade routes across land to China/India/Etc. rich, because the paths across the sea were too hard to regulate. Always follow the money. The last thing the rich people that guided people to their silk and other wealth wanted was for somebody to discover how to go the other way around . . .

Jeeze…. questioning AGW is like raining on their prom.
All these creeps are descending on Copenhagen for their big do. Even though I’m freezing my a$$ off in the deep South, I’d hate to spoil their party – not.
The Pillsbury Dough Boy is fast approaching his expiration date. One would think that someone would pull him off the shelf except that this juvenile administration has no idea how embarrassing they are.
The bottom line is that the Dems have done nothing that matters to ordinary people, you know, the ones who work and pay taxes – absolutely nothing. They party-on (literally), pursuing an agenda that threatens the very people who make this country functional.
We’ll see what Barfy brings back from Copenhagen this time. Bloomberg news was buzzing about it today. Hopefully it will be simply another expensive trip at taxpayer expense with zero results.

The presence or absence of the sun causes 20+ degree changes every day, with a typical day being 20 degrees warmer than a typical night, at least in my experience in watching temperatures around the globe over the years. And then there are the seasonal changes, which can range over 100 degrees in Chicago (-10 degrees at its coldest and 90 degrees near the warmest). Minor changes on the sun should easily explain the much, much smaller differences in temperature that the warming crowd says will happen.
The whole situation is definitely one of those times when you have to ask cui bono?. Seems like all the people who’d benefit from cap and trade and the entire regulatory agenda of the environmentalists are a bunch of hacks, so even if it’s true, which I doubt, I’d rather not see them benefit just on principle.

Obama, Gore meet on climate change
By BEN FELLER
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has met with former Vice President Al Gore at the White House as the president prepares for his appearance at a major international climate summit in Copenhagen.
Obama met with Gore in a closed meeting with no press coverage.
The former vice president won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for his work toward combatting climate change.
Obama is also meeting on Wednesday with environmental leaders and U.S. business leaders to discuss climate change.
The president will be at the summit of world leaders on Dec. 18

The old State Media meme was scientists versus old companies.
The CRU put a face to the “scientists” though.
Now the debate is the skeptics, who have been at partly vindicated, versus individual government hacks.
The public knows what government hacks are like and the notion that AGW is partly exaggeration and partly fraud doesn’t seem so unbelievable any more.

Do I believe in warming since Gore started making big bucks on his scam nearly a decade ago? NO!

Global warming is regarded by the sheeple as true, by those who can think for themselves as false and by the power mad and money grubbers as … … useful.
- Seneca the Younger paraphrased
What would be the effect of all this Global Warming fraud and coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth. Al Gore and the Global Warming fraudsters converted simple changes in the weather into an engine for enslaving mankind to filch wealth and power to themselves. They, in fact, constitute the real Anti-Scientists.
- Thomas Jefferson paraphrased
The church says the earth is flat, but I know that it is round, for I have seen the shadow on the moon, and I have more faith in a shadow than in the church.
- Ferdinand Magellan
If Ferdinand Magellan was alive today he would probably say “The Church of Global Warming says the earth is dangerously heating up, but I know that it is not, for I have seen the snow and ice and have felt their bitter cold, and I have more faith in snow and ice than in the Church of Global Warming, and it’s High Priests.”
