Obamateurism of the Day

When politicians give major speeches, they will usually release the transcript ahead of time to the media to allow reporters to prepare their stories. One thing they will watch is whether the speaker changes or omits any part of the speech. Barack Obama managed to leave out a small piece of the ending, and one that HA reader Phil B caught by following along with Andrew Malcolm’s pre-speech transcript provided by the White House:
Thank you, God Bless you, God Bless our troops, and may God Bless the United States of America.
Leaving out the blessing for the troops certainly wasn’t intentional, but considering the subject matter of the speech, it’s an awkward omission. Maybe TOTUS has it in for Obama …
Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
