Audio: “I don’t want to have to kill this man, but I’ll kill him graveyard dead”

posted at 5:56 pm on December 7, 2009 by Allahpundit

I’d call it a palate cleanser except that it’s too riveting and simply … too sad for that. Not only is this poor woman put through the wringer, it sounds like the guy breaking in was out of his gourd: They didn’t know each other, yet he was screaming threats and resorted to throwing patio furniture through the back door to get in. Reportedly, when the cops found his sister to let her know, she was so high she was nearly unconscious, so that’s the theory for his behavior at the moment. No word yet on what he was on.

I hope the NYPD would have been as supportive as the dispatcher is at the end here, but New York ain’t Oklahoma, needless to say. Exit quotation from the sheriff: “This was nothing more than a home invasion and Mrs. Jackson was defending herself.”

Consider this folks–The police did not arrive until 16 minutes after the man broke down the door.

mojojojo on December 7, 2009 at 7:16 PM

This is Oklahoma. I can almost guarantee he was a Meth head, nothing short of overwhelming force would have stopped him. Also you will have to look pretty hard here to find anyone who will have any problem with what was done including LE/DA.

Thanks.

I remember an NRA infomercial I saw about Great Britain and Australia. One part had scenes from a shop that destroyed the firearms they took with a cutting wheel. It didn’t matter if the were modern or beautiful relics. Three cuts and they were gone. A lot of them were what I would consider works of art. Sad!

hawkdriver on December 7, 2009 at 7:16 PM

25 minutes.
That’s how long it took for the police to arrive.
25 minutes.
All you gun banners who want to take our guns and for the rest of us to go unprotected?
From my cold dead fingers, mutt. From my cold dead fingers.
pabarge on December 7, 2009 at 6:52 PM

Yes but the National Socialists that want to take away your right to defend yourself would say that’s it would be more important that this nut case be still alive and the Law-abiding citizen were dead…

Because if it saves just one life…. oh that little canard would apply in this case because the life that would have been saved was a piece of human debris.

Oh well..

You should go to the Youtube url for this and read some of the comments. Bunch of pansy Euroweenies shrieking about it. What a bunch of pathetic Eloi. Sometimes I think they deserve to go by way of the dodobird, which they are.

He’s breaking through your house door? Here’s an idea, go find a room to hide in which is protected by a door thinner than the one he is smashing through.

Bishop on December 7, 2009 at 7:13 PM

This part of country is called “Tornado Alley” because of the number of tornados every year. Many people have safe rooms built into the house. Good place to lock yourself in for protection from a loon too.

Don’t forget for a minute that is what the disarm the law-abiding crowd would love to do here.

To them, no one should be able to defend themselves – well except for the elite Leftists, it’s important that they survive.

The rest of us are just the great unwashed, we don’t deserve to survive.

It’s a good job that brave woman is not living under Australian law – no self-defense justification. She would be in jail on a murder charge.

I pray for this woman because like most Okies, she’s a God-fearing loving Christian, and she obviously felt some pre-morse at taking another’s life. But as I stated… once that line is crossed, you’re fair game.

Well you’re a real prizewinner.

Someone previous to me posted ‘Good Job” and I pointed out the woman will probably go through personal hell because she was mentally unprepared to do what she did, as evidenced by the audio. Infact, the audio is evidence that I was correct in my assessment that she will not simply be able to say ‘He needed killing’ and sleep quietly at night.

I’d wager it is the rare person who has not been conditioned by training, is not a criminal or just plain nuts, who can kill without any remorse whatsoever.

If you bothered to actually do some reasearch such as look at my other posts in this thread you’d know I own a Mossberg 500 SPX that has rounds in the tube as well as rounds on the stock’s shell carrier and is ready to go at all times. Moreover, if you knew me, you’d know I have a handgun carry permit from the State of Tennessee and I carry a Sig Sauer P239 chambered in .357 Sig wherever I go. I’ve stated such on Hot Air.

If some nutty freak breaks into my house, thereby threatening my wife and daughter, he’s going down — dead before he hits the ground. A double tap to the center of gravity plus a single (+) to the head from my S&W .40 will see to that.

The remorse I’d feel for killing a drug-crazed freak would be much, much less than that I would feel should I let such a weirdo harm my family. Luckily I live in Texas, where I’d be a local hero…

mr.blacksheep on December 7, 2009 at 8:33 PM

One of the local news channels said that the dispatcher also advised Ms. Jackson that they had obtained legal advice that she would be justified in using lethal force in her situation if the man broke in. I did not listen to the audio, I heard part of it earlier, and it’s just too sad, so I don’t know if that part is on there.

Something like this actually happened to me only I didn’t have to shoot, thank God.

A man came to my door in the middle of the afternoon and starting banging and yelling to be let in. My daughter, about 15 at the time was freaking out. I looked outside and saw that it was a stranger and didn’t open the door. My German Shepard was going nuts, barking and lunging at the door.

I told my daughter he would go away in a few minutes but instead, he began to bang on the windows on the side of the house next to the door. That’s when I called 911. The lady told me to stay calm and they would be there soon. I told her that I was getting my 357 and if he came in, I was going to shoot him. She warned me against doing that.

He worked his way around and was banging on the window to my bedroom. I was screaming at him, my dog was barking, my daughter was crying, it was chaos. He ended up breaking the window to my bedroom and my dog nearly went right out the window at him, but stopped her. I didn’t want her to cut herself on the glass.

Anyway, the broken window seemed to surprise him and he started walking away. The police arrived, it had been about 10 minutes since I called. They caught him down the street. Turned out he was drunk as a skunk and thought he was banging on the door of his own house and was pissed they wouldn’t let him in. He had forgotten his key.

Well, we pressed charges but I never did find out what happened to him and we were never paid the restitution he owed us for the window.

The policeman told my husband that he was glad I hadn’t shot him, but that I could have and not been charged. The only thing that stopped me was my dog running for that window and my worry about the glass.

It was a frightening experience and I am so thankful it didn’t end like this episode did, but I knew I would have shot him before I let him hurt my daughter.

Here in Minnesota you have to give a crud like this the first shot and you better be in a window-less bathroom so there is no escape before you have a chance of getting found not guilty of manslaughter. Even then you’ll need a minimum of $20,000 for attorney’s fee’s to defend yourself in court and that doesn’t include the legal fee’s to defend yourself in civil court when the poor killed innocent’s relatives sue you for wrongful death.

While filling out the report the father asked questions about the use of lethal force. He asked one question in particular: “What if he is banging on my front door?”

The Cop replied. “Open the door, kill him and then drag him inside.”

Thank God this lady was armed and ready to use her weapon while considering the consequences.

A couple of years ago, I had a middle of the night scare, then got my 12 gauge. After that, a CCW. My 380 gives me out of the home peace of mind.

I hope to God I never have to use either, but I’d rather have them and not need them than vice versa.

MalindaH on December 7, 2009 at 9:01 PM

I’m in Las Vegas, Nevada and I think the 911 operator was probably concerned that I would hurt myself, or my daughter or that if the guy got in, he would get the gun and use it on us. Fat chance, I’ve practiced a lot with that gun and the others we own, as have our children.

Jeep Girl,

The window the guy broke was in my bedroom. The hallway of my house faces that window. We were standing in that hall and yes, I had the gun out and was ready to use it. At the time he broke the window, I was about 20 feet away.

I’m just glad because I would have felt awful for my daughter to witness that, but better that than the possible alternative.

And yes, my little 85 pound Dolly is a very good dog:)

Here’s a tidbit from the Euro way of thinking about guns:

I would like to say one thing, in what is my conception of the Republic, security is the responsibility of the State, I am against militias, I am against the private ownership of firearms, and I’m trying to make you think about that. If you are assaulted by an armed burglar, he’ll use his weapon more effectively than you anyway so you’re risking your life. If the criminal is not armed and you are and you shoot, your life will be ruined, because killing someone over a theft is not in line with the republican values that are mine. The private ownership of firearms is dangerous. I understand your exasperation for having been burglarized two times, I understand the fear that your wife and daughter may have but the answer is in the efficiency of the police and the efficiency of the judiciary process, the answer is not in having guns at home. – Nicholas Sarkozy

What a crock of s***.

atheling on December 7, 2009 at 9:30 PM

Our thoughts and prayers to that brave woman. It’s not an easy decision to make, but it was the right one.

In Australia, near where I live, an antiques dealer was held up by three armed men.

He shot and killed one of the robbers. Three years later the dead man’s brother and his idiots mates came back armed to the teeth and started shooting up his shop.

The antiques dealer took cover with his wife behind the counter and armed only with a revolver and firing blindly, he killed one robber and wounded another.

It took three years for the courts to clear the man of any wrong doing, all the time with murder charges over his head.

Not surprisingly the incidents took a toll on his health and business.

Thanks, Jeep Girl, I am glad too. It could have been ugly. But, I know now that if it ever does come to it, I can do it.

Jvette on December 7, 2009 at 9:46 PM

Nothing will make a grown man pee himself like the sound of a pump shotgun being racked in the dark.

Aviator on December 7, 2009 at 7:30 PM

Exactly why I got mine. Don’t want to have to kill anyone and that sound should be warning enough.

I do feel bad for her. I feel like she felt before. I don’t want to, but I know I would. I just don’t know what it’ll feel like afterwards. It’ll take time, but she’ll heal.

xax on December 7, 2009 at 9:46 PM

A similar thing happened to me, in the suburbs of L.A. Luckily the crazy guy gave up and went away.

My friend, an ex-cop, suggested a shotgun and I’m thinking seriously of it.

If you are assaulted by an armed burglar, he’ll use his weapon more effectively than you anyway so you’re risking your life. – Nicholas Sarkozy

You want to ******* bet on that, Nicholas?

You want to know the biggest difference between someone like Sarkozy and someone like me? I don’t run around trying to impose upon others based on a complete ignorance of their situation.

Sarkozy’s solution is to simply surrender society to criminals. Put them in charge. And I’m not even talking “logical conclusion” here, that’s just on the face of it.

If you live in Europe, become a criminal – it seems to be the only way to avoid being hassled by the government.

Funny ain’t it? Strong women are found predominately in RED states.
Who would have thought?

Blacksmith8 on December 7, 2009 at 10:37 PM

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet. I heard the case was being treated as a homocide…

bernzright777 on December 7, 2009 at 9:43 PM

Not quite. Basically, they have to base the investigation on some criteria, and I’m guessing ‘homicide’ most closely fits the bill. Unless something unusual turns up, it’s very unlikely charges will be brought. Apparently, our choir boy goblin had quite the rap sheet, and was well known to the local LEOs.

I like a 12g pump with 3 #6 birdshot followed by 2 deer slugs. Nothing will make a grown man pee himself like the sound of a pump shotgun being racked in the dark.

Aviator on December 7, 2009 at 7:30 PM

Sportsmans guide sells a 12g shell, it has one .65 cal load and six 00 packed in with it. Best of both worlds.

bikermailman on December 7, 2009 at 11:07 PM

They also make a variety of pistol shells, with #12 shot instead of a slug.

Taurus Judge can fire .45 Long Colt or 3″ .410 Shotgun.

He’s breaking through your house door? Here’s an idea, go find a room to hide in which is protected by a door thinner than the one he is smashing through.

Hear, Hear… Translation: curl up and wait to be murdered or raped or both while we take our sweet f&*king time getting there. WTF is wrong with this country? Anger, Anger, Anger!!!!

Good for her for feeling bad. She took a human life, however justified. That she feels bad about it is a very good thing.

Good for her also for not hiding in a tiny bathroom and hoping the problem would go away. That would not have ended well. She defended herself at the point where it made the most sense.

She did all the right things in a very tough situation. I hope the experience doesn’t weigh too heavily on her. But that’s a lot better than being dead.

The 00 buck measures what… .330 diameter? Six of those AND a .65 cal load. Damn!
Since the bore diameter of a 12 guage is .73″, is the .65″ load sized to fit through any size choke?

This woman exhibited the type of gun control this nation actually needs.

He stepped into the kitchen and that is when she fired the fatal blast, striking him in the center of the chest.

Center mass, good girl.

Alden Pyle on December 8, 2009 at 8:16 AM

Don’t forget folks that for this woman, a gun was a piece of LIFE SAVING EQUIPMENT.

In the Bizarro, through the looking glass world of the Left with their moral relativism, there is no difference between this innocent woman defending her life and the psycho trying to take it.

In the real world it is a question of who would you rather survive this encounter – the law-abiding citizen or the criminal?

The national socialist gun grabbers would rather take away that woman’s right to defend herself and empower the criminals because it empowers them also, think about it.

Insert witty screen name here on December 8, 2009 at 9:04 AM

I hope this poor woman is okay. It will take some time and she will probably never get over the incident entirely.

This video brought tears to my eyes. I’ve actually wondered what it would be like if someone broke into my home under the same circumstances. I know that I too would kill the intruder “graveyard dead”. I value all life. I know that taking another human life would have a massive effect on me. Rationalizing the situation with the fact that I was defending myself and/or my family would help but it wouldn’t make it all just go away.

watson007 on December 8, 2009 at 9:11 AM

Canofer – your 410 will work ok. A 20 ga is better. Bigger than that, you can get into a swinging problem inside a house and the gun might get taken away by a crazed intruder. #4 birdshot? Suicide, man! I think even a 410 can take #3 BUCKSHOT. The differnce in size is a pencil eraser to the pencil lead. #2 buck shot (not birdshot) is about 30 caliber balls. A 20 gauge has about 8 of them in a load. Go to your gun store and get home defense for whatever gun or pistol you have. That means buckshot and wadcutters. For the average person, shotgun slugs are no good. You will probably miss. You won’t with buckshot of any gauge. If you are not used to shooting, go to the local gun store and find someone to train you. Also, shoot to kill. If you shout to wound, you might miss, or you might hit and you will get sued by some ambulance chaser.

Don’t blame lack of law inforcement. I live in a huge county just northeast of Tulsa. We do have a meth addict problem, but that is generally self eliminating with a blown up house. However, we just have a handfull of deputies to cover this huge area. It is not really their fault they can’t be everywhere at once. Our big problem is the huge concentration of minorities with stolen guns in the northeast side of Tulsa. These folks learn to “shoot” from Hollywood and come up here to be tough guys. They all commit suicide in their own way.

Old Country Boy on December 8, 2009 at 9:33 AM

17 years ago I very nearly killed my husband. He was out on a field exercise and called to let me know that he was definitely NOT coming home that night (there was a 48 hour window). We had a new baby that had decided sleep was unimportant and I was exhausted. I brought the baby into our room and, for whatever reason, had the heebeejeebees and literally braced the door with a chair. I woke up to hear someone walking down the hall. I felt I had an instant to make the decision- gun or go across the room to call the MP’s. Gun it was. The door knob rattled. I was ready to blow a hole right through the door. Then my husband called my name. He turned white when I flung open the door and was armed.

He know calls and has told everyone to NEVER come home unannounced. Lesson learned.
