“Don’t focus on what I did back those many years ago in commuting the sentence of the cop killer, focus on how you can make your own lives better”.

He’s comparing his actions as a public official to those of a celebrity whose private life was made public because of his own actions.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! Look – you are bad too!

Intrepid on December 6, 2009 at 9:35 PM

Is it just me or can everyone else play the videos?

perroviejo on December 6, 2009 at 9:35 PM

The second one was fine for me, perroviejo. Didn’t attempt the first. Cannot stand Bob Schieffer.

General: President Looked at Iraq Surge to Plan Afghanistan Strategy

President Obama did acknowledge the success of the surge in Iraq and used some of its lessons to develop a plan in Afghanistan, the head of Central Command said Sunday.

Obama, looking towards the Iraq surge for plans to use in Afghanistan. The same surge in Iraq he said failed, and he said he was against. Yes, that one.

Concur.
While I don’t buy into the voyeuristic gossip-type of media obsession over an incident like Woods’, he did place himself within the spotlight of public attention in exchange for rather sizable compensation. If he genuinely wanted privacy it was an option, as were his decisions to commit whatever “transgressions” Mrs. Woods discovered: optional.

Tom_OC on December 6, 2009 at 9:43 PM

man, chicks are falling all out of the woodwork claiming that they’ve been driven by Tiger Woods. Not just one timers either, like nooners, fly-her-here-and-there types, “golf lessons with a pro” on his desk types, and cougars.

sheesh!

ted c on December 6, 2009 at 9:46 PM

Yep. I agree with Schieffer as well. If you want to have more than one chick, don’t get married.

perroviejo on December 6, 2009 at 9:47 PM

Huckabee always sermonizes like he’s talking to a baby. Huck, direct the sermon to Doocy and Kilmeade who I turn into first thing to get the day’s news and end up hearing Tiger-this and Tiger-that.

Marcus on December 6, 2009 at 9:47 PM

Does this mean the Tiger story is officially over?
Please?

billy on December 6, 2009 at 9:54 PM

Intrepid, your comment (December 6, 2009 at 9:35 PM) about the Huckabee clip was exactly right –

“Don’t focus on what I did back those many years ago in commuting the sentence of the cop killer, focus on how you can make your own lives better.”

He’s comparing his actions as a public official to those of a celebrity whose private life was made public because of his own actions.
. . .

But please consider playing the clip of what Bob Schieffer had to say . . . he got it right.

Trochilus on December 6, 2009 at 9:55 PM

Tiger Woods is a non-issue. He is not a public official, no one elected him to be one of the best golf players out there, he excercises no far reaching power on the public. His private life has exactly jack bearing on his public life.

Huck’s case is the exact opposite. He made far reaching decisions as a public official, was elected by the people, and screwed up royally.

It is a question of integrity and responsibility when a public offical breaks the oath with his/her spouse, and is a question of fitness for the job of government if they screw up royally.

Holger on December 6, 2009 at 9:57 PM

A sickening remark ignored.

Huck is starting to make me chuck.

A “white kid with the same rap sheet as the shooter would have gotten probation and a $1,000 fine” and later it was added that the hypothetical white kid was from West Little Rock.

Well, lets play the race card. And Huck, if the criminal justice system in Arkansas was THAT screwed up, why didn’t you do something about it? Thicreep should be running a ripoff church somewhere.

IlikedAUH2O on December 6, 2009 at 9:58 PM

Women making up stuff about Tiger woods is now a small cottage industry. Every girl he ever looked at is now selling their stories to the tabloids, and claiming he slept with them. It actually says a lot about how pathetic our culture has become.

Chudi on December 6, 2009 at 10:04 PM

Wow, Huck thinks we care what he thinks. He says we shouldn’t care what Tiger thinks or suggests. Then he tells us what movie to go see and what book to read.
Uh, hey Mikey? You my friend, are a putz.

Crux Australis on December 6, 2009 at 10:15 PM

re: Schieffer

Now I’m hearing Palmer was a runaround, too. But the press covered those things up back then. So, Palmer was NOT right about Woods. Palmer got a pass where Woods didn’t (not that either of them deserve that pass) and Palmer the protected scumbag should shut the hell up about Woods the scumbag who doesn’t enjoy the same favorable treatment Arnie got.

Dr. Carlo Lombardi on December 6, 2009 at 10:30 PM

I think Mr. Schiffer’s views will change once someone starts poking around in his life. And his producers. And the researchers. And the cameraman’s. But in particular his. Because journalists–you know, people who put themselves in the public eye–can dish it out but I seriously doubt they can take it, because that’s the kind of people they’ve become.

Horatius on December 6, 2009 at 10:35 PM

Geez, I agree with Bob more than I do Mike. Never thought that would ever happen. Like most celebrities they want the public to flock to the theaters and golf courses or, buy the products they endorse for millions. Then, when they do something that gets the attention of the public they live off of, they throw a hissy fit. Man up. And Mike, get real.

I was one of Tiger Woods greatest fans. Yeah, he threw around offensive curse words with abandon and had a nasty habit of throwing temper tantrums in public, but I liked his tenacious nature on the course and his talent.
He seemed to be always able to pull off that great, sometimes miraculous, shot just when he needed it.
Well Tiger, it’s Hail Mary time, and you’re not going to have me rooting for you this time. Some fans may come back to you, but I’m done with you.
Public or private, you,ve won the green jacket for golfs’ A$$hole of the YEAR.

As Obamoleon was trying to deceive the neighbors he was also tricking his own sheeple. The scapegoat was again SnowBush. Whenever anything went wrong it became usual to attribute it to SnowBush. In fact many of the claims begin to sound ridiculous to the objective mind. Of course, Obamaoleon and his MSM squealer’s mission is to keep everything clouded in the minds of the sheeple.

Huckleberry just veil-edly/vicariously told all his critics to go frack themselves ['get a life']. I’ll bet anyone any amount he still has designs on 2012 and sees himself as a frontrunner.

Reminder to self. Never let media ever again decide our candidates and never let candidates become our media

Kini on December 6, 2009 at 11:19 PM

If Huckabee still sees himself as a frontrunner in 2012, then he is delusional. He is toast with his clemency/commutation record as governor.

Iowa will not look kindly at a politician who has allowed not one but TWO murderers to go free at the tip of his pen. Mitt has already commented on it on Larry King Live, and you can bet it will be shoved out there by Mitt with every opportunity.

In the mean time, Sarah Palin sits on the sides, watching her book sales and poll numbers go up.

Intrepid on December 6, 2009 at 11:20 PM

There are people living on hillsides in Nepal and Bhutan who don’t know who Obama is but they know that Tiger Woods cheated on his wife and she subsequently trashed his car with a golf club. So Huckabee wants to protect Tiger’s “secret”. What secret? The whole world knows.

1 If you want privacy, don’t get rich and famous.
2 If you don’t want to be the number one topic of conversation in chat rooms, forums, emails and text messages or around the coffee machine, don’t philander.

And, Huckabee, please STFU.

No news here. Tiger is just another pampered racist black hyper-sexed athlete who prefers serial white bimbos, preferably blondes, to black women!! His wife may be lucky, unlike Nicole Simpson, to still have her head attached to her body!! Tiger won’t change his stripes and the wife will tee off on him for several million!!

Hey, thanks a lot. You know how Republicans have a stereotype of being the party of racist white people? That’s because of people like you.
