Haha, I’m betting that Tiger will write her a couple checks for a few million dollars, and she will decide, all of a sudden that she can get past his transgressions and learn to love his money him again.
Oh yeah, she’s lived an awful life – living with the wealthiest professional athlete in the world while he cheats on her occasionally is really terrible. That poor, poor supermodel. How will she ever recover?
Dude, you missed the point; she’s the mother of his child; they have some kind of emotional bond; if she really did attack the car, that means there are feelings involved. She’s hurting and so are the kids. That’s what I was getting to when I said I feel sorry for her. When love turns bad, no money or fame or success in the world can fix it. Now go be an ass somewhere else.

Don’t know about learning to love again, tolerate more likely. At any rate I wouldn’t want to live in that house.
Tigers theme song. ♫ Can’t buy me love♫
Other couples have been where Tiger and his wife are and have survived. That’s why “for better or worse” is part of the marriage vows. It means that when one half does seriously broken crap, the other half has to hang in and learn to forgive. Forgiveness takes time, but they can rebuild their relationship and create a stronger marriage; this time, his weaknesses and hers are on the table. What they need is counseling by a good Christian pastor.

Tiger’s public image is presumed to be based upon his personal attributes. In marketing the two are inextricably tied. You don’t get some guy off of the park bench he’s been sleeping on or out of the drunk tank to try to get us to buy stuff.
Tiger and his agents and the companies he endorses want us to buy into his image. Also involved is the sacred cow aspect because he’s “ethnic”. Rich and ethnic. Hmmm. According to the Commies these people aren’t supposed to exist I thought.
We buy into all this by focusing only the positive but are chastised by the sheeple around us when we are put off by the negative—we’re supposed to ignore it because we’re all less than perfect. Same thing with Martha Stewart and many, many other celebrities that have gotten away (or tried) with various improprieties and crimes. There will always be cheerleaders for the rich and famous they’ve never met and who have never done Jack for them.
Also, I can pretty much guarantee that if this incident happened involving average citizens somebody would be going to jail for domestic violence. Police officers would spend X amount of time on this, get tired of it, make arrests and allow the courts to figure it all out.
For the italians here – I just want to know if it’s cool to stuff big shells with a combo of chicken/any meat, chopped basil and ricotta, and top it off with a Prego like sauce, and call it a meal. With bread accompanying, of course.
Heh – Mom has never tasted alcohol, so Mint Juleps aren’t on the menu, and have never been.
But I tried a recipe a few weeks ago that included jumbo shells, ricotta, chicken chunks, basil and one of the commercial sauces, like Ragu. I loved it, but mom was a bit perplexed (Mom has Alzheimers)
Mom likes pasta meals, and I’m trying to build up a bunch of recipes.
Leaving his commutations aside, my problem with Mike Huckabee is:

I think it made John Kasich look small. And Obama on late night TV.
Here’s Huckabee, fresh from a presidential run, suddenly playing bass guitar in a suit. It looks f**ing stupid and unserious.
Not trying to slam the man. He’s enjoying it, and music is wonderful. But to build a resume to be president I just don’t see the kind of non-knee-jerk serious thought going on when our candidates embrace the talk show.
Palin’s book tour is fine. But I hope she limits the things like Oprah, etc., or even she can be made small.
There needs to be a sort of remove – a mystique, Just a little. Not arrogance – but seriousness. We demand that of our leaders, whether we realize it or not.
Barry in his “mom” jeans talking jive with the baseball All-Stars in the clubhouse before the game made me sick.
It doesn’t matter. As governor Mr. Huckabee gave clemency to two different men who later went on to kill. Everyone has been watching politics too long not to admit that the opposition will be relentless with that information.

Tiger wasn’t required by law to make any statement, and he was wise not to do anything beyond that which Florida law requires (provide driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance to the police when asked). How could it possibly have helped him?

In my humble mom opinion, Mr. Woods was never allowed to have a childhood. It’s hard to be a good adult when you don’t learn life’s lesson on a small scale when the stakes of bad decisions are less catastrophic. Life is a process. That said, Mr. Woods doesn’t get a pass because he knows the difference between right and wrong and his lack of control is being played out on the world stage. I wish the best for him and his family.
Shceiffer is closer to being right than is Huckabee.
Our society and culture should must make as tog statement of disapproval if it is stop its downward spiral into the gutter. Of course there are a great many whoremongers out there stepping forward to deflect, defend, or rationalize on Wood’s behalf. That’s to be expected, but from the standpoint of our society….
‘Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil”
(Thomas Mann)
It’s odd that Huckabee, who claims to be a man of God, turns out to be an enabler of evil at the end of the day.
Acrually, I think the Woods family is a victim of the Climategate debacle. If themesia was not so desperate to get the hell away from that story, the Woods story would have been less attractive to them.
That’s why “for better or worse” is part of the marriage vows. It means that when one half does seriously broken crap, the other half has to hang in and learn to forgive.
And love means never having to say you’re sorry.
What a load of sh!t, making demands of your partner: “the other half HAS TO HANG IN AND LEARN TO FORGIVE.”
Bwahahaha, like telling God that God HAS TO HANG IN THERE and HAS TO FORGIVE no matter the lack of respect, remorse, whatever else. Tempting God is a fool’s errand.
For better or worse references social status, finances.
In sickness and health is as obvious in meaning as the monogamous vow to cleave unto each other and NO OTHER.
It’s the wronged person who has the right to self defense, having the faith and trust raped by the offender. The offender doesn’t dictate the terms that the wronged partner must accept in FORGIVING AND FORGETTING.
Squeezing grace through coercive means is counter-productive.
Huckabee’s position is compromised in terms of profit.
Hats off to Bob Schieffer, again, for hitting the nail on the head. You can’t have your cake and eat it, too. If you want your privacy, buy it back by forfeiting your fortune. Schieffer also attacked Obama’s announcement of withdrawal of effort date in the Potus speech last Tuesday, much to Katie Couric’s dismay. He wouldn’t let her cover up Obama’s pact with defeat.
He made her a great contract offer- $80 million for 7 years.
That’s better than most players get.
drjohn on December 7, 2009 at 8:05 AM
Can anyone see a happy ending here? She’s staying for the money, But will never trust him again.
He’s going to be resentful for having to buy her off and because he’s going to be watched like a hawk, here on out.
This can’t end well. They’ll simply tolerate one another.
Tiger is learning the type of lesson as an adult that the rest of us learned as kids. Hopefully it will inform his decision making for the rest of his life. The only thing that will prevent it is his wealth. Wealth and power allow people to avoid taking full responsibility for their behavior. If you add being a person of low character, they are almost certainly guaranteed to never become a better person.
I think Tiger is a decent person at his core and he will be a better person in the end. The antithesis to Tiger are people like Obama, Barbara Boxer, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Newt Gingrich, Mark Sanford, Roman Polanski, and well, pretty much all politicians and Hollywood types. They are insulated from the consequences of their actions because their wealth and power are rarely damaged by their actions until they do something really egregious. The rest of us have learned to willingly accept the consequences of our actions because we are committed to being a better person each and every day of our lives. In a word, we have……
With Tiger’s money, he and his wife can live in that big house, but still maintain separate lives.
I doubt if he will learn to keep his putter in his pants based on the growing number, now up to nine, of bimbos now coming out. Just hope he can keep the number under par 70.
I agree and he’s young enough to learn. As far as the other folks you mentioned, with the exception of Mr. Polanski, their bad decisions always end up costing the average citizen something.
I can’t believe there are people here that are able to make excuses for Tiger Woods. EVERYBODY has some sort of dysfunction in their lives and family. This is the reaction “his people” are hoping to elicit from the public, so he can resume his role model position of being the really great family guy that we can all admire.
Please.
I agree that no one is privy to the specifics of his relationship with his wife, but just the facts that have been verified about his dirtbag lifestyle with bimbo’s is enough to shut the door on any excuses for him.
What happens between Woods and his wife is their business and how they resolve it doesn’t matter to me. But I am curious to know how many advertisers, who use Woods as a spokesman, will now decide that marital fidelity is not a prerequisite for being a “model” citizen and fitting representative for their products. In short, does moral turpitude or lack of honor count anymore?
I talked to a friend last night and she was clueless about Climategate. I get so depressed for a few seconds every now and then.
Cindy Munford on December 7, 2009 at 9:40 AM
Me too. I have a relative that bitches about her job, the cold weather, and how people don’t love her enough. Never a damn word of thanks to my two serving sons, our military in general, or conservative principles at all. These people get on autopilot the second they wake up and will eat every $hit sandwich that comes down the pipe until they go to bed! And to add insult to it, they denigrate those of us who are vocal about refusing to do the same.
I could give thanks all day every day for my blessings so I have hard time relating to those who can’t be bothered to look around. At least my friend isn’t enamored with The Won. She works at a public school and she says the people are becoming disenchanted. Something else to be grateful for. And let me thank you for your sons, you did a good job.
Direct hit by Schieffer… Kinda like a hole in one…
-
To the Huckster, as far as I know no one is demanding the stuff you mentioned, especially the cameras in poor Tiger’s bedroom. Have you become a Dem recently? Your outta the ballpark exasperations remind me of Harry (slavery dude) Reed……
-
BTW… Tiger made all his cash by living in the spot light.

And to think that it all started with “that woman you made Lord.”

Acrually, I think the Woods family is a victim of the Climategate debacle. If themesia was not so desperate to get the hell away from that story, the Woods story would have been less attractive to them.

He made her a great contract offer- $80 million for 7 years.
That’s better than most players get.

In a word, we have……
Honor.

And because many of our fellow citizens are ambivalent to the corruption, we are almost powerless to stop them.

I talked to a friend last night and she was clueless about Climategate. I get so depressed for a few seconds every now and then.
Cindy Munford on December 7, 2009 at 9:40 AM
I suspect a lot of them are fellow whoremongers rationalizing their own behavior and hoping to mainstream their hobby.

And to add insult to it, they denigrate those of us who are vocal about refusing to do the same.
csdeven on December 7, 2009 at 10:15 AM
I could give thanks all day every day for my blessings so I have hard time relating to those who can’t be bothered to look around. At least my friend isn’t enamored with The Won. She works at a public school and she says the people are becoming disenchanted. Something else to be grateful for. And let me thank you for your sons, you did a good job.

Direct hit by Schieffer… Kinda like a hole in one…

To the Huckster, as far as I know no one is demanding the stuff you mentioned, especially the cameras in poor Tiger’s bedroom. Have you become a Dem recently? Your outta the ballpark exasperations remind me of Harry (slavery dude) Reed……

BTW… Tiger made all his cash by living in the spot light.
