Copenhagen carbon load: 1,200 limos, 140 private jets

posted at 6:57 pm on December 6, 2009 by Allahpundit

Nothing new, but still pretty amazing. After Climategate, which the UN’s own climate chief now acknowledges is a PR nightmare, and with recent polls showing growing skepticism about global warming — and not just U.S. polls, either — you’d think the AGW crowd would go the extra mile at its big photo op to demonstrate the urgency of the crisis. Instead, this. Either they still don’t realize they have an image problem or they don’t care, opting to pay for their sins with indulgences from the corrupt carbon-offsets industry instead of emulating the average joe and doing without luxury transportation for two weeks. For a bunch of politicians, they sure are stupid about optics.

On a normal day, Majken Friss Jorgensen, managing director of Copenhagen’s biggest limousine company, says her firm has twelve vehicles on the road. During the “summit to save the world”, which opens here tomorrow, she will have 200.

“We thought they were not going to have many cars, due to it being a climate convention,” she says. “But it seems that somebody last week looked at the weather report.”

Ms Jorgensen reckons that between her and her rivals the total number of limos in Copenhagen next week has already broken the 1,200 barrier. The French alone rang up on Thursday and ordered another 42. “We haven’t got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand,” she says. “We’re having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden.”

And the total number of electric cars or hybrids among that number? “Five,” says Ms Jorgensen. “The government has some alternative fuel cars but the rest will be petrol or diesel. We don’t have any hybrids in Denmark, unfortunately, due to the extreme taxes on those cars. It makes no sense at all, but it’s very Danish.”…

The temptation, then, is to dismiss the whole thing as a ridiculous circus. Many of the participants do not really need to be here. And far from “saving the world,” the world’s leaders have already agreed that this conference will not produce any kind of binding deal, merely an interim statement of intent.

There are so many jets headed there that the local airport can’t accommodate them all; after dropping off their passengers in Copenhagen, some will have to fly on to other regional airports so that they can “park.” All this for the privilege of rubbing elbows at a conference that’s not only aiming at the wrong target, but is destined not to hit it. Exit quotation from Achim Steiner, head of the United Nations Environment Programme and a PR genius every bit as brilliant as, say, Barbara Boxer: “This is not ‘climategate’ it’s ‘hackergate’. Let’s not forget the word ‘gate’ refers to a place [Watergate] where data was stolen by people who were paid to do so. So the media should direct its investigations into that.”

It’s no wonder that truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to make sense.

You would think that these royalists could go one day without raping the environment, at least on their day to save the environment. It’s not like flying first class in a commercial jet would kill them. It’s not like taking a cab would kill them. I wonder if these princesses can feel a pea under forty mattresses.

Let’s not forget the word ‘gate’ refers to a place [Watergate] where data was stolen by people who were paid to do so. So the media should direct its investigations into that.”

The original incident was a burglary, but what made the scandal such an important event was the conspiracy and coverup behind it – kind of like Mann and Jones…Had a couple of punks, or even low level activists, broken into the office, no one would remember the event.

Oh, and what information did the “plumbers” steal? IIRC, they’ve claimed they were looking for information on a prostitution ring the DNC was running (remember ACORN was around yet), but I don’t think anyone has claimed that they actually got any such information…

18-1 on December 6, 2009 at 9:53 PM

Oh, and one other interesting aspect of this scandal. In the public mind, AGW was a debate between deniers and scientists – the State Media has done a pretty good job in the labeling.

This scandal though turns it into a debate between deniers and the CRU/Jones. This is critical as the public can believe corruption by individuals far more then “scientists”.

So, two suggestions.

1) Since Jones is going down, always try and associate Mann. I think he is more important to AGW and better known.

2) Refer to Jones and the rest as bureaucrats, government hacks, etc. Again, the public knows the type of people that work for the government and finds it easy to believe they are willing to use their office for their own personal benefit.

On the other hand, if you can wrap your mind around the notion of the citizens of the United States electing as their President this clown who shall be nameless, then Cokenhäagendazs makes perfect sense.

The only ones this orgy benefits will be the lovely Danish hookers of Copenhagen.

In fairness, we still haven’t developed web cam or satellite technology, so all of these “true believers” had to show up in person. What’s that? We do have those technologies? Soooooo, you’re insinuating that these people aren’t true believers… So Coulter was spot on when she said, in light of all the REAL evidence and elitist hypocrisy, that at least now we know Gore isn’t an idiot, he’s just a liar.

Anyway, the scary thing here is how naive AllahPundit comes off in this post. I don’t know if it’s his atheism that causes him to refuse to recognize evil and acknowledge it.

As always, when I say that all of this global warming crap is a push for a “New World Order”, it’s not conspiracy theory Truther stuff… These are the words of world leaders and UN delegates. Gordon Brown said it months before he even took the reigns in the UK.

There is just so much that needs to be said here, but a comment isn’t going to highlight it. AllahPundit doesn’t seem to get the gravity of the situation… so he doesn’t pass it on. I can only hope most of the rest of you are following along a lot closer.

I’ll BEGIN to consider taking the hysteria of the AGW pundits seriously when I see them start to behave in their own lives as if it’s real and not a hoax invented to seize dictatorial powers over our lives.

That means they stop using the private jets, the limos, the fleets of SUV’s, and move out of the mansions into small houses powered by solar panels.

Ie: they start living the way they wish to FORCE us to.

Surely there are conservatives in other countries who see all this? Wonder if they speak out about it and try to get the sheeple in their countries to wake up? British MP Daniel Hannan (God bless him) comes to mind, but what about average citizens in the other countries? Where are those who desire Liberty and prosperity and shun government safety nets, government control, Libtardism and Socialist elitists running their countries?

Where are those who are the Patriots who are sick and tired of their nations being consumed by radical Muslims, political correctness and all the time becoming increasingly subservient to the de facto Communists still running Moscow?

France? Britain? Germany? Italy? Anybody?

The Socialists network heavily while conservatives hunker down and mope.

No wonder they’re taking over.

Welcome to the ‘World Government’…

The bureaucratic political elite class get to fly all over the world, travel in limos, and eat lobsters and caviar while always coming up with an excuse to keep the rest of us living in a cave and eating grass.

This is a hoax, based on a HOAX, based on Marxist/Socialist Communism/Fascism…

The United States of America is being targeted because we still have some ‘freedom’ left.

If you want to convince me that your swimming pool is really full of acid and not water; then don’t go swimming in it.

Is it really too much to ask that the people trying to convince me that this is the most severe crisis to ever face mankind act like it’s at least worth noticing?

And if it is, do they really expect me to believe them?

This is dad, eating the cookies just from the oven Going “oh, *chew chew* these are awful *chew chew* you kids shouldn’t eat any of these (grab another) they’re dreadful *chew chew*

Did you believe your dad when he did that? (I’m assuming most dads use that joke when you’re 5 or so)

So no, I don’t believe them. Mostly because they don’t seem to believe themselves.

Wade on December 7, 2009 at 8:22 AM

I remember seeing an article somewhere discussing Britains consideration of imposing heavy taxes on people who travel over a certain number of miles per year (via plane) and juxtaposing this with the travel destination of a UN climate change bureaucrat who spent a lot of money and flew many miles in order to attend to personal things (like attending cricket matches). AGW restrictions if enacted will end up being like most behavior modification schemes from the left – the liberal elite are exempt.

gwelf on December 7, 2009 at 8:25 AM

I understand the whole “cabon footprint” thing serves to point out the hypocrisy of the left. God knows, there’s plenty of that to go around and still have many baskets full after it’s distributed, but…
Aren’t we just adding fuel to the fire by acknowledging a meaningless term in the first place? The Architect of the Universe made a pretty nice, self-cleaning world here and it can take anything humans dish out and not even need a bottle of Pepto when we’re done.
Keep hammering the truth of this issue. Follow the money and you will find that truth.

What people like Little Green Chuckie will never get, is that the first sign of a scientific (religious) fraud, is when the proponents themselves act as if they don’t believe what they’re preaching.

I can see it now…

Teh wingnut denialists crazies at HotAir are using this as an excuse to DENY! I’ve read through all the comments, 5 times, and I can tell you, they are deniars!

This is nothing more than an attempt by the America-hating UN at a giant wealth-transfer scheme.

Dave R. on December 7, 2009 at 9:34 AM

AGW is the gift that keeps on giving. Their solutions will never be enough and they will have to keep trying harder with even more draconian measures(taxes & regulations) to save us all. The real scientists need to write op-eds, speak at college lecture halls,go on tv, stand on a soap box on corners everywhere and explain this hoax in language everyone can understand. We cannot let this opportunity pass us by.

This is nothing more than an attempt by the America-hating UN at a giant wealth-transfer scheme.

Dave R. on December 7, 2009 at 9:34 AM

Yep there was a guy on CNN saying that this morning. Industrialized nations were going to have to send BILLIONS of Dollars to developing countries to help them with their carbon emissions. Who operates in 3rd world countries? The UN, and who is going to be fraudulently keeping the books — the UN. Global Wealth Redistribution, that won’t ever go to poor third world countries but line UN bureaucrats pockets. This is so OBVIOUS and they have a track record for Fraud and Abuse. The Planet doesn’t have a man made global warming problem and they know it so when the planet declines in temperature that is because it is already declining.

I can’t wait till Horner’s NASA suit is responded to by court order, he has been waiting over 2 years now to look at the data that supposedly mirrors East Anglia Data. “Manipulated Data” when that happens the other shoe drops on the Global Warming Hoaxers. Nobody is going to believe that NASA destroys scientific data as a rule of their Scientific Research.

Dr Evil on December 7, 2009 at 10:02 AM

http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/tech-mainmenu-30/environment/2462-nasa-faces-foi-lawsuit-over-climate-data

A leading climate researcher is planning to sue NASA for withholding information about climate-change data used to establish environmental regulations. Christopher Horner, Senior Fellow with the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), has notified NASA and its Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) that he will sue in late December if that agency does not fulfill Freedom of Information (FOI) requests Horner placed in 2007.

Stephen Dinan of The Washington Times reports the FOI requests deal with repeated changes NASA has made to average temperature readings. Within the past three years, NASA has reported four different years as having the hottest temperatures on record: 1998 was first replaced by 1934, only to be switched again a short time later by a tie between 1998 and 2006. NASA originally recalculated the numbers in response to pressure from Steve McIntyre with ClimateAudit.org, who questioned disparities between official NASA tabulations and raw data reported by individual weather stations.

Dinan reports Horner’s prediction that “what is there is highly damaging. These guys are quite clearly bound and determined not to reveal their internal discussions about this.” According to Dinan, NASA spokesman Mark Hess says the agency is collecting “responsive, relevant” information to answer Horner’s requests. Hess could not explain why NASA has taken so long to provide the records. The FOI Act allows up to 30 days for agencies to respond.

THE FAT LADY HAS FINISHED SINGING YET.
