Brown: AGW skeptics are “flat-Earthers”
posted at 2:15 pm on December 5, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
This demonstrates the scientific, analytic approach of AGW hysterics to debate and tests. Never mind that the AGW modeling backed by Gordon Brown predicted warming over the last few years that never materialized. Questioning AGW “science” makes one equivalent to card-carrying members of the Flat Earth Society (via Geoff A and Newsbeat1):
Mr Brown last night insisted that the science on climate change in settled, and accused those who question the consensus of being outdated.
He said: “With only days to go before Copenhagen we mustn’t be distracted by the behind-the-times, anti-science, flat-earth climate sceptics. We know the science. We know what we must do.”
Greg Clark, the Conservative shadow energy secretary, told the Daily Telegraph the emails were a cause for concern.
“This has clearly concerned a lot of people, including myself. You need to be able to rely on the scientific opinion. It is important that we should be able to have confidence in the research,” he said.
Announcing a review of the case, Dr Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), said the matter could not be “brushed under the carpet”.
“Anti-science”? Maybe those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. As Dr. Pachauri himself notes, the entire issue with the East Anglia CRU is that they weren’t doing science, but advocacy. They conspired to silence critics, refused to release their methodology, used “garbage” data to bolster their claims, and then destroyed the raw data on which they based their models and conclusions. What about that is pro-science?
Perhaps Gordon Brown needs to familiarize himself with actual science rather than political hackery. Actual science gets conducted in the open, and needs repeatable conclusions and full data sets to be considered “settled.” It welcomes scrutiny and testing; actual science doesn’t hide from scrutiny, or conspire to block it, and actual scientists don’t plot ways to ruin the careers of those who question the models or results.
Brown has put himself clearly in the “Shut up, he explained” school, which isn’t science at all. It’s what leaders of a cult say when the brainwashing starts to weaken.

Talk about self-pity? He should read the editorial from Nature:
“If there are benefits to the e-mail theft, one is to highlight yet again the harassment that denialists inflict on some climate-change researchers, often in the form of endless, time-consuming demands for information under the US and UK Freedom of Information Acts. Governments and institutions need to provide tangible assistance for researchers facing such a burden.”

As a devour member of the GloWaT Church I deeply resent jokes being made about the serious reality of Global Warming. As you may know GloWaT believes in the Global Warming Trinity of Mother (Barbara Boxer), Son (Barack Obama) and the Holy Gore.
To all Global Warming skeptics, instead of censure. I offer a brief prayer of forgiveness:
“Forgive them Holy Mother for they know not what they do
We have our proof in East Anglia and in Houston, Texas too
Our proof is in the Holy Trinity-who could ask for more?
Our Dearly Beloved Saviors-Mother, Son and Holy Gore.”
MaiDee on December 5, 2009 at 2:56 PM
I have a very bad feeling about this. The healthcare bill is unpopular. The Left/Dem/MediaShills say “so what”?
ClimateGate is just another opportunity for the same gang to say “so what”.
The deep problem is that these people are certainly not smart enough to solve any problem, yet will flail around (on our dime) wrecking various countries…it is what they do…yes we can.
I listened to part of a BBC panel on Copenhagen. “Family Planning” came up.
It is odd how primitive the warmers are. Malthus wrote “epidemics, pestilence and plague advance in terrific array, and sweep off their thousands and ten thousands. Should success be still incomplete, gigantic famine stalks in the rear, and with one mighty blow, levels the population with the food of the world”.
That was 200 years ago…he could not have predicted the current world’s population or prosperity.

We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction.” — Ted Kennedy, September 27, 2002
There is no doubt that AGW skeptics are “flat-Earthers”
Brown:December 5, 2009
“I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force – if necessary – to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.” — John F. Kerry, Oct 2002
Two thousand scientists, in a hundred countries, engaged in the most elaborate, well organized scientific collaboration in the history of humankind, have produced long-since a consensus that we will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the underlying causes of global warming.
AL GORE, speech at National Sierra Club Convention, Sept. 9, 2005
All across the world, in every kind of environment and region known to man, increasingly dangerous weather patterns and devastating storms are abruptly putting an end to the long-running debate over whether or not climate change is real. Not only is it real, it’s here, and its effects are giving rise to a frighteningly new global phenomenon: the man-made natural disasters.

Has anyone noticed that Google has censored the word “climategate” from its suggestions (the words which appear in the pop-up box as you type a search term).
Type “climate” and of course climategate is not there. So add the “g” and you get “climateguard windows” among other things. Carry on with the rest and it gives you “climate guatemala.”
This despite the fact that climategate is a buzz word at the minute, millions must be doing searches for it and in fact Googling it brings up 30 million results. Who the friggety-frig do they think they’re kidding??

I presumed you were American. If you are English, I retract.
What I mean is that AGW has been a front to come to Kyoto treaties, etc, where the power of the American economy has been hampered by global consensus. I think American policy should be determined by Americans.
I think British policy should be determined by Brits. Stripping them of royalty, etc, is just trying to remake the world according to someone else’s (not Gore’s) vision. Ie other side of the coin.
