Student to Obama: How about stimulating the economy by legalizing drugs and hookers?
posted at 4:55 pm on December 4, 2009 by Allahpundit
Can’t blame the kid for trying. Obama has been famously ambivalent about one of these issues, and he’s already pissed off enough seniors with ObamaCare that he might as well go ahead and alienate them all. Although these days, I don’t know why any American would want or need drugs. Just breathe deep and get high on Change, baby. (Now available in tablet form.)
As for the other half of the equation, now that we’ve learned that carbon isn’t the only thing world leaders will be emitting in Copenhagen, it does seem unfair that Americans must suffer without. Many beta-male votes have been lost to The One this day, my friends.

LOL. Need to start stimulating the economy and parts beyond somehow. And probably could pay for Obamacare with the taxes on these two “activities.”
Makes sense to me, little Beta Male, makes sense to me.

But with all these taxes, who’s gonna be able to pay for the drugs or hookers?????
search4truth on December 4, 2009 at 4:57 PM
If drugs and hookers were legal, ACORN would lose half of their consulting business. After all, nobody’d come to them with a need to circumvent non-existant laws.

Obamacare will take care of the drugs…
…and the SEIU already has the hookers.

They may not be the wisest people in the land, but they did give Nobama the presidency. Maybe Megan McCain can start twitting about how drugs and hookers should be included in the Republican ‘big tent’. Just sayin…

What I want to know is one do that kid do any of the things he mentioned, if he has is he will to pay a tax on them or is the other half supposed to pay the taxes. What does he think will happen to the price.
I think this kid has to much time on his hands.

Maybe junior can point out just where drug dealers and prostitutes are lining up TO PAY TAXES.

Any guesses on how much he’s shooting up and hooking up? Most proponents of legalizing these activities are heavily engaged in them.

One thing would be for certain. There would be a lot more hookers out there overnight.

I can see prostitution or legalized drugs being topics for debate, but the kids actually suggested, if you listen close, legalizing some non-violent crimes. I wonder what non-violent crime he has been daydreaming about?

Hawkins1701 on December 4, 2009 at 5:11 PM
Don’t bother asking. You won’t get an answer from the ‘legalize it’ crowd that isn’t laughable. No matter where or who or how often you ask.
Dark-Star on December 4, 2009 at 5:12 PM
I agree with him.
I don’t know why individual choice doesn’t extend to recreational drug use and prostitution.
JABB on December 4, 2009 at 5:12 PM
These are legal if the federal government is involved:
Money laundering: Take money from citizens and give back to states. State politicians are clean from responsibility to their voters.
Discrimination: quotas.
Fraud: Too easy.
Shoplifting: Corporate income taxes.

Think of all the “jobs” of various sorts that would be created or saved by legalizing prostitution.
As for drugs, I think Obama is just waiting for the perfection of the drug soma, which should be popular with betas everywhere (and gammas, deltas, and epsilons as well). A gramme is better than a damn.

tommer74 on December 4, 2009 at 5:21 PM
Though I would agree that prostitution and drugs do not represent the best use of our law enforcement agencies, with the Democrat party’s urge to nationalize everything in sight, I fear that such a proposal would only result in government run brothels and state sponsored opium dens. You know, much like Berkley.
Browncoatone on December 4, 2009 at 5:23 PM
I’m surprised the One didn’t ask if underage Central American girls were involved…he probably referred him to ACORN after the event.

Legalize non-violent crime??
The real sad part in all of this is the tuition his clueless parents are wasting on this morally bankrupt numb skull.

Not to get my free-market libertarian panties in a bunch, but prostitution and drugs should be like Roe v. Wade: the 10th Amendment trumps and the states should decide.

So let’s legalize pot and hookers and stuff!”

He should have answered “Acorn has that market covered, but thanks for asking”.
gina4 on December 4, 2009 at 5:34 PM
You would think with the very high levels of casual promiscuity these days hookers would be on the path to obsolescence. If we legalize it we might give the free hookups a bad idea. What we now get for free might come with a fee. Hookups, not hookers. :)
ray on December 4, 2009 at 5:35 PM
Don’t bother the Big O, kid! Just boogie on down to your local ACORN office, and 14-year-old Maria Juana from El Salvador will get you high tonight, and they’ll send us the bill.
Steve Z on December 4, 2009 at 5:36 PM
How is it up to Obama if prostitution is legal or not? Last I checked it was legal in Nevada. Maybe we should start with educating people \about the difference between state and federal government.
jhffmn on December 4, 2009 at 5:36 PM
Obama believes that we can’t sustain wars without positive progress. With this in mind, I am waiting for him to relieve all police officers of duty as their War on Drugs and War on Crime have been an utter failure. Every second, of every day, someone is becoming addicted, OD’ing, being murdered, raped, or robbed…EVERY SINGLE DAY.
How can we continue to sustain these obvious failures. To endlessly fund these completely ineffective wars is a huge, financial burden on the American people. Send our officers home so we can enhance our entitlement programs and bring peace and love to America.
Thank you, God Bless You, and God Bless the United States of America.

VTWaldrup on December 4, 2009 at 5:37 PM
I’m sure this thread will bring out all the HotAir “legalize it” advocates so would someone in that camp please answer the following series of questions?
If the US legalizes marijuana, puts a price on it and taxes its sale, what will all of the current illegal suppliers of the drug do?
Will the Mexican/Other drug cartels just pack up and go away? Or will they just give up their marijuana crops and concentrate on opiates/meth/cocaine?
And if neither of the above, will they try to undercut the US Grade A Pot prices? And if so, what would that do for the “save the economy” argument?
And finally, will the purchase of illegal marijuana still be a crime? And if so, is it likely that crime will increase, or decrease?
BKeyser on December 4, 2009 at 5:37 PM
I think he meant victimless crime. I kind of did a little bit of a double take, but yeah victimless crime is a little more reasonable to legalize.

I think Obama could take a crack at the issue. I hear he can really blow people away with his personal knowledge of the former issue. He doesn’t just take pot shots. The speed of his thoughts in this regard is truly impressive. You should hear him discuss the story of what happened to poor Mary Jane.
Oh and his VP is a dope.

Forget about the question the kid posed. The Cover-girl in Chief, well, he could not have been more un-presidential in his reply.
Not only does he hate this country, an indisputable fact, he diminishes the high office he holds… to the point of lessening himself.
As to the kid’s question, somehow I doubt that hookers and drug dealers and bookies know how to keep the best of auditable financial records. I mean these are cash-only businesses anyway and, like flea markets, enjoy the benefits of the underground economy.

Well you’re already seeing that with cigarettes. I would guess they would go after tax “cheats” with Cannabis a little harder because they can still capitalize on the stigma. Going after hooch helps the ATF get some supplementary funding and aids to keep that disgusting organization in business.
Or maybe they would just ignore or not enforce it, and maybe they could spend their time, money, and paperwork on solving real crime and use the extra prison space to keep sex offenders in jail longer.
