Quotes of the day

“Palin began her political career as a reformer breaking up Alaska’s corrupt boys club and shifted seamlessly into last fall’s campaign trail culture warrior. But her decision to carry to term her Down syndrome child established a special relationship with anti-abortion activists, and now Palin has transformed herself from a politician who was anti-abortion into the leading figure of the anti-abortion movement

“‘You just can’t escape it — she really is cut from a completely different cloth than most men, but also women, in politics,’ said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, which supports anti-abortion candidates. ‘She had the audacity in the eyes of the abortion rights world to actually have this child and then has the audacity to bring him along with her and feature him as a centrally valued person in their family.’”

I’m a big Palin fan, however…I was disturbed that she admitted to contemplating abortion, no matter how briefly, when she heard that her son has Down’s. Yeah, we’re all human, but the mere fact that option even exists is obviously enough to tempt even many of the most ardent Lifers. And of course, at least she admitted it.

Seeing abortion as an option is what many women want, but pro-lifers say “no”. But how can this be if even a prominent pro-lifer thinks about it?

Dunno, just seems to be a little disingenuous and I would like to have her clarify her position on this issue more fully…that is, would certain conditions be OK with her in warranting an abortion?

My age is showing, I guess, I was thinking Mary Tyler-Moore. (it’s the hat I guess)

They have bumper stickers and T-shirts all over Alaska that say “The coldest state with the hottest Governor.”

Those are two truly neat photos. No doubt she is one beautiful woman.

Looking forward to having her as POTUS. I’d much rather see her mug plastered everywhere instead of the Chicago Jesus’!

You misread her book. She’s also talked about this in speeches. It wasn’t that she really contemplated abortion as much as she came to understand how a woman could be tempted.

I know many of us look at Sarah as superwoman. But you gotta remember, she is not some super-being. She is, in fact, human. She has human feelings, and all.

This is why people love her Doc. She’s real, and she isn’t afraid to let folks know it.

This was a story she didn’t have to share. You need to re-read, then understand why she did. You’ll feel better about the issue.

I figured out why she is glowing. Todd is with her!

It’s damned hard to find a bad photo of this woman. I think that’s what REALLY pisses the left off, big time! Especially the lefty women! :-)

She’s going to make a great looking POTUS, for sure.

I WAS DISTURBED THAT SHE (PALIN) ADMITTED CONTEMPLATING ABORTION, NO MATTER HOW BRIEFLY

Sarah first mentioned this in her address to the Evansville Right to Life Dinner when she was still Governor of Alaska April 19/09 as a way she could relate to those women who consider abortion as a viable option. You may now consider that Palin betrayed the pro-life movement but at the time seven and 1/2 months ago the consensus was that it was one of the best pro-life speeches ever delivered. Here is the video of the speech:

http://sarahpalinmedia.blogspot.com/2009/05/gov-palins-evansville-right-to-life.html

Yes, at the time the Far Left tried to make something of it by accusing Palin of being a hypocrite, but the argument did not hold up because she decided to have Trig.

Let me use an analogy. Suppose you have been a valet to an old lady for a number of years. You have done your job with devotion and diligence. One day she tells you that you have been made part of her will upon her death. Then you undergo some financial reversals and are at the end of your rope for a split second you think about doing away with her; but you then bring yourself around and begin to refocus and realize you are a Christian and even if you did it you would be caught and sent to jail. The lady eventually dies of natural causes and you receive your legacy as Palin abided the gestation period for her baby to appear.

technopeasant on December 5, 2009 at 5:24 PM

When Sarah Palin first burst upon the scene, she reminded me of Queen Esther from The Bible. You can even watch the movie over the internet

And I do believe she has used a line that is a paraphrase from Esther…”If I die politically, I die”

Do you believe that GOD can arrange events that are beyond our comprehension for “such a time as this”? I do.

lukespapa on December 5, 2009 at 7:16 AM

Spot on.

I’m not overly religious, buy yes, I think if there was ever a time God was arranging events this is it.

Look at the way RomneyCare and Elmer Gantry Huckabee have been hoisted by their own petards.

Hell, look at how the attacks coordinate by Obama’s man Pete Rouse in Alaska have worked out. For those that thought she screwed up by “quitting” they are rapidly being prove utterly wrong. As she says, God has blessed her on that too.

Sometimes it takes great evil to wake people up and get them back on the right path. Obama and his crew are certainly a great evil.

I think God is using Sarah to get us back on the right track. He couldn’t have made a better choice.

But just one.

After this, we’re on our own.”

What a difference between SP and the women(and really the men) on the left who support whatever she does or says. She looks peaceful, happy, the left, crazy, mad, pissed off, angry, etc, etc, etc(and whyjust because someone criticizes her when their guy is in)?????

But Choice is the very foundation of the Judeo-Christian principle. Doing the right thing is meaningless if you have no other choice. She considered her options and she can be proud of her decision. With practice, you learn to make good decisions. It’s what this country was founded on. Individual Free Will, Individual Free Choice, in a word Freedom.

Guys, I voted for Sarah last election (er, I mean, McCain) but,c’mon guys with all this “back to god” stuff. Humble and contrite did not build New York skyscrapers or bring oil out of the ground and across oceans to power our homes. And prayer and faith are not a means to understanding.

Sarah may want to simply stick to cutting taxes, drilling for oil and killing terrorists. Leave the moral and intellectual revolution stuff to those of us who value reason and man’s mind as the sole source of all wealth, value and the good of mankind.

They are not mutually exclusive. As much as people may want to deny it, this country and it’s the blueprint for our form of government was imagined and built by men of great faith and belief. Most of our “great” institutions of higher learning were originally built to train clergy. If Gov. Palin gets strength, peace and courage from her faith, why should she hide it?

I second that. And every human is tempted daily to do the wrong thing. Even Jesus was tempted.

Given that our founding documents clearly state that our Rights come from our Creator, I think it’s reasonable to look for leaders who believe in a Creator and are greatly influenced by that belief.

Red State State of Mind on December 6, 2009 at 5:01 PM

Thank goodness some here are backing up the common complaint that Palin was only chosen for her looks…

TheBlueSite on December 6, 2009 at 6:15 PM

Very odd to hear someone say that a child born with down syndrome is perfect and made in the image of God.

That is such a candyland view of God and the universe.

Specifically?

Very odd to hear someone say that a child born with down syndrome is perfect and made in the image of God.

That is such a candyland view of God and the universe.

TheBlueSite on December 6, 2009 at 6:21 PM

Nope: fairly common, from the standpoint of a belief that we are all made in the image of God.
I’m bald – am I imperfect?
Is someone with 6 toes imperfect? (or less valuable, in God’s eyes?)

Nothing Candyland about it.
Save your dismissiveness for something else.

massrighty on December 6, 2009 at 6:29 PM

‘She had the audacity in the eyes of the abortion rights world to actually have this child and then has the audacity to bring him along with her and feature him as a centrally valued person in their family.’”

Campaigning with a baby is as old as the hills…really.
Interesting how those – who in the past have critized this tactic – suddenly see nothing wrong with it.

Double standard or just plain sappy hypocritical behavior on their part?

Please…and what Conservatives would have said that about Amy Carter or Chelsea Clinton? or even the Obama girls?

Pure rancid unadulterated partisan crap…it stinks of partisan kool-aid sucking.
