Video: Senate Dems working on “Plan B” for ObamaCare
posted at 6:30 pm on December 3, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Plan B? According to my count of the variations of ObamaCare that have wiggled in and out of the public offerings, this is more like Plan BB23. Sen. Thomas Carper (D-DE) seems to want to build a hybrid between a public option and the non-profit co-ops that Kent Conrad (D-ND) suggested in August at the height of the tea-party outrage. What’s the likelihood that this will be the final plan that gets offered? I’d keep an eye out for Plan CC17.

Blowback

I’d like to implement plan C4 on the “Health Care Bill”.
And then do it again for good measure.
rihar on December 3, 2009 at 6:34 PM
I LOL at that one!
upinak on December 3, 2009 at 6:34 PM
Waterloo baby!
elduende on December 3, 2009 at 6:36 PM
I suggest they skip plan B, plan C, plan D, and go directly to Plan FU.
RBMN on December 3, 2009 at 6:37 PM
The plan is getting so awful that nobody will support it, soon.
I’m not entirely convinced that isn’t strategic at this point. I think a LOT of Democrats are looking for any excuse to bail.
AnninCA on December 3, 2009 at 6:37 PM
Remember back in July when the president insisted that the time for talk was over and that he wanted a vote on the healthcare bill before the August recess?
Good times.
myrenovations on December 3, 2009 at 6:38 PM
Ok, way OT…But the rollover pop up movie adds can jump straight up my ass….
BigWyo on December 3, 2009 at 6:38 PM
Last August we dodged a bullet. I’m thinking even more of one than we knew at the time.

The Tea Partys are reloading.

Plans, or a rousing game of battleship?
Why can’t these dolts just admit they dont’ know what in the hell they’re doing?
capejasmine on December 3, 2009 at 6:41 PM
No human being would buy a used car from this Senator. Not his mom, wife, kid. He may be a good person. He is selling crap.
chaswv on December 3, 2009 at 6:42 PM
I think you’re right.
Obamacare, as they wanted it, is dead. We dodged a horrific bullet. But there’s 3 more years to go and I’m much more concerned about what’s to come than what is going on now.
Guardian on December 3, 2009 at 6:44 PM
broke back movie?
upinak on December 3, 2009 at 6:44 PM
Not one of these SOB’s has the slightest idea of what the Hell they’re doing.
BigWyo on December 3, 2009 at 6:45 PM
I hope it’s ‘Plan B’, the morning after you skanked yourself out and you think you’re knocked up and you take a pill and poof, you’re not knocked up……..
Will the senate take a pill and put this deathcare bill and themselves out of our misery?
HornetSting on December 3, 2009 at 6:49 PM
I can’t imagine how many more times either the House or the Senate can work up a lather for something that will send their polls negative.
Unless you’re honestly a die-hard single-payer progressive, the Dems DO have to consider the wisdom of this. Lose the battle, win the war thinking is probably going to start being discussed, soon.
I think, personally, they are out of “We can do this” rhetoric.
They are getting slaughtered in the polls. Biden’s son is now 6 points behind the R.
AnninCA on December 3, 2009 at 6:49 PM
Actually, this whole Obamacare debacle is starting to resemble Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Plan 9 from Outer Space.
CurtZHP on December 3, 2009 at 6:56 PM
Don’t like the piece of crap we’ve been selling? No worries. Here’s a new and improved piece of crap. How much will it cost? Who knows? Will it work? No, not really. But those are minor details.
The important thing to remember is that our power and control over your life is what’s of paramount importance. There’s too much damn freedom going on around here and we need to feel important. You will pay attention to us even if it kills you.
RadClown on December 3, 2009 at 6:57 PM
Intrepid, I swear I didn’t steal your idea. I just type really slow!
CurtZHP on December 3, 2009 at 6:57 PM
Whatever the final plan is, it will rightfully be labeled ‘Plan CCCP’.
Bishop on December 3, 2009 at 6:58 PM
These schmoes don’t even realize that they better be spending time figuring out what they’re gonna do with their time once they are sent packing come election day.
I’m getting madder by the minute. These fools have got to go, and we’ve got to get the vote out to insure that outcome.
This is gut-check time for all of us who are passionate about our nation and its future.

Who is running against Biden JR?
I am in CNN hell. I am on a cruise ship with ONLY CNN and some really bad movies on the ship channels. I am in a private lounge for the suite guests and have been working all day (thank goodness for high priced internet at sea, hehe). CNN has NEVER mentioned Health Care ONCE today.
So far, Tiger Woods at least 10 times an hour, the White House party crashers (still!!!) at least twice an hour, and then some of the upcoming climate change crap.
No Mention of health care debates in the Senate, no mention of the forged climate change emails, etc.
They are covering the jobs summit, but no details. Their panel was just on, spinning like crazy to try to justify why high unemployment is OK right now.
Barf!!!!!!!

I have to agree.
peski on December 3, 2009 at 7:03 PM
Congressman Mike Castle, who is doing ok in polls.
And it’s not even certain Junior will run. He hasn’t declared yet. I think he comes back from his JAG Reserve duty in Iraq in the next month or so.

Plan B4.Nov:2008 is the way to go.
kahall on December 3, 2009 at 7:05 PM
Once again, this is not about healthcare it is about Gov’t control. There will be no plan without a public option/co-ops. KILL THE BILL
rjoco1 on December 3, 2009 at 7:09 PM
Kill the bill.
There are more important things to focus on. Much more important imo.
How can we be confronted by the scam of Climategate and fudging the data to “hide the decline”, and right under our noses there is another scam going on, where the data is being fudged right now..in real time to “hide the increase” and we don’t recognize it as the same game?? ITS THE SAME G%&*&MN THING!..and the same people (politicians and the American people) don’t see it??
I don’t understand it. It amazes me.
Itchee Dryback on December 3, 2009 at 7:16 PM
Ed Wood would have written and directed a better bill than these turkeys can do.

Just turn down the volume and enjoy Jane Skinner.
Come on guys, you know you want to.
Yakko77 on December 3, 2009 at 7:21 PM
Can we just once throw the Dem’s playbook right back at them? This is not a plan, or a blueprint, if anything ever deserved to be associated with nefarious scheming, this is it!
It is a SCHEME! Bent upon destroying the preimminent Healthcare delivery system on the planet, exercising control over your most personal decisions and lead to naught but penurious deprivation!
Repeat after me, paint the picture in stark clarity, IT IS A SCHEME!
Archimedes on December 3, 2009 at 7:22 PM
Heh CurtZHP – you owe me a coke!
Intrepid on December 3, 2009 at 7:22 PM
But, in the end, they’ll be sending something to the Cover-girl in Chief to sign, called healthcare reform.
And, whatever it is, will be their undoing.
Suicide is painless.
TXUS on December 3, 2009 at 7:29 PM
Here’s a real SIMPLE PLAN for those intellectual giants in Congress and the Senate: DROP ALL OF IT NOW!
GarandFan on December 3, 2009 at 7:29 PM
Let your Congressmen and Senators know:
A vote for Obaloneycare is a vote against your own re-election. Call’em, write’em and show up at their local offices. This is too important to let slide.
Socialism is just a blink away. Don’t blink.
hillbillyjim on December 3, 2009 at 7:31 PM
Folks, none of this is dead. All of this is headfake. Why do Republicans continue to celebrate at every little nuance of difficulty by the Dems?
They know they are so close they are willing to do anything to get it. Creating a roller coaster of drama just keeps the opposition off guard. They will pass a duck that is supposed to be a chicken and then turn it back into a duck again in conference. Do not take you eye off the ball. 300 million will be chump change.
Starlink on December 3, 2009 at 7:32 PM
You’ve been paying attention.
Good on ya.
hillbillyjim on December 3, 2009 at 7:33 PM
My senator, (McCaskill) won’t take any calls or faxes. Always busy. Not up in ’10. Thinks we are all a bunch of hicks that will forget by ’12.
NOT.
Starlink on December 3, 2009 at 7:36 PM
They already do. That is why they are called pop ups.

More ShamWow Care from the Dems that couldn’t shoot straight?

The only Plan B that I want to see is when they abort this monstrosity of a bill.

I hoping for the electorate’s plan in Nov 2010. Democrat Party FUBAR!

Well, the more amendments the Republicans bring up, the more debate there is and the more debate there is, the more people wonder about the whole thing…the Republicans do not have enough votes to defeat the bill, but if they can drag out the process long enough it might defeat itself.
Terrye on December 3, 2009 at 9:33 PM
I used to want to, back when she was attractive (and she was, very) and stupid and liberal. Now that she’s droopy and stupid and liberal…not so much.

I rolled on as the sky grew dark
I put the pedal down to make some time
There’s something good waiting down this road
I’m picking up whatever is mine
CHORUS
Yeah running down a dream
That never would come to me
Working on a mystery
Going wherever it leads
Running down a dream
