Video: Noted ex-terrorist “appalled” by Obama’s Afghanistan surge

posted at 7:46 pm on December 3, 2009 by Allahpundit

Oh dear. Who’s going to write The One’s presidential memoirs now? I kid, I kid.

Actually, Ayers is right about the timetable being a sham. Near as I can tell from the administration’s many conflicting statements, in practice the July 2011 deadline to start withdrawing means this: At least one American soldier will absolutely, positively be redeployed that month — the date is “etched in stone,” after all — but any more beyond that will depend entirely on conditions on the ground when the Pentagon conducts its review next December. Some timetable. In fact, Obama actually went ahead and authorized Gates to boost the number of surge troops from 30,000 to 35,000 if he deems it necessary, i.e. if our more feckless NATO allies start bugging out. The “deadline” may be a gesture of weakness to appease the left, but it’s an almost entirely cosmetic one and, after all, he has to live with these nuts. If he had 65 percent support for escalation, that would be one thing, but under the circumstances Pelosi et al. need some sort of fig leaf to approve funding. And that’s what he gave them.

ex-terrorist

For the record, he’s not. Maybe lapsed, or non-observant, but definitely not ex.

Al Qaeda want americans dead , Ayers wants Americans dead . Obama thinks they both have legitimate grievences , but that America should be given a chance to surrender . Fundamental transformation was promised and seemed to be what the majority of voters wanted . We’re screwed .

borntoraisehogs on December 3, 2009 at 9:02 PM

I, for one, am now relieved that, due to her husband’s recent disillusionment with The One, Bernadette Dorn won’t be going to the National Endowment for the Arts D.C. cocktail party for Roman Polanski when he returns from Switzerland.

Bruno Strozek on December 3, 2009 at 9:04 PM

When Bill Ayers is the voice on reason on this particular issue, it just shows how out of touch O-Bomba and the DC establishment are from American voters (49% of whom want non-interventionism according to the latest polls).

The Dean on December 3, 2009 at 9:04 PM

Not to worry, Ayers will only shoot you if you present you back to him and you aren’t armed.

Noted ex-terrorist “appalled” by Obama’s Afghanistan surge.

Irresistible follow-up question: Are you going to bomb NYPD headquarters in protest, Bill?

Mike Honcho on December 3, 2009 at 9:13 PM

Really, who cares what Bill Ayres thinks about anything?

FIFY, my daughter’s name is Bernadette and although Bernardine is a nice name, I shiver at having her share names with that monster

thebrokenrattle on December 3, 2009 at 9:49 PM

And we’re still in Bosnia.

Doorgunner on December 3, 2009 at 9:49 PM

And the last crime Billy Ayers will ever commit will be to die a natural death.

Doorgunner on December 3, 2009 at 9:50 PM

I hope he plants another bomb in a certain government building. I would allow Huck to pardon him afterwards.

You have no idea what a big mouth full of Powerade feels like shooting through someone’s nose, or the mess it makes all over the keys and monitor, do you?

The President of the United States, and his big belted wife.

I think you meant big bu… well… you know..

And me thinks the Barmeister might want to keep Ayers close.. you know the saying about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer, but what about friend wo’s your enemy?

CynicalOptimist on December 3, 2009 at 11:35 PM

Ayers is appalled that not enough innocent people died at his hands. He said he didn’t do enough bombing.

There are monsters. We keep letting them out even after we catch them. Incompetent prosecutors, judges, idiot politicians… they’re going to put themselves out of a job, and we’re all the worse for it.

Also, the fact that this particular monster is not a pariah on the left demonstrates how corrupt their ideology is.

You’re giving Obama WAY too much credit here. In some of his statements, he smooshed troop deployments in together with troop withdrawals.

He could send 1,000 troops into Afghanistan, and take 10,000 troops out the same month, and still fulfill his illusory “commitment.”

logis on December 4, 2009 at 8:14 AM

This hippie douchebag wasn’t above planting bombs in Federal buildings, so why do we still give a s#!t what this man thinks?

Bill Ayers, Taliban, Al-Qaeda and liberals’ warped morality:

killing terrorists, fighting to protect freedom/democracy = bad
being a terrorist, surrendering to enemies, hating America = good

thinkagain on December 4, 2009 at 3:22 PM

It’s as plain as the nose on your face:

1. Withdraw in 2010.
2. The terrorists will kill a few thousand (or more) Americans on American soil.
3. The One will send troops into Afghanistan to set things a-right.
4. Then it will be a righteous war free of the Idiot (Fascist, Nazi, Hitler, whatever) Bush’s fingerprints.
5. Ayers and the other Communists will applaud the measure, and Conservatives simply couldn’t argue against it.

Everyone’s happy!

Oh, except for the aforementioned dead Americans and who knows how many innocent Afghanis under a resurgent Taliban Inquisition. But, what the hell…

Dr. ZhivBlago on December 4, 2009 at 5:18 PM

So is he going to dust off and spool up the old bomb making factory?
