The sadly obligatory “Tiger comes clean” post
posted at 1:56 pm on December 2, 2009 by Allahpundit
Looks like this is the big story of the day, god help us. Young billionaire guilty of “transgressions.” Film at 11.
I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.
Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.
But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don’t share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one’s own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn’t have to mean public confessions.
The boss concedes that the tabloids are berserk but says ultimately it’s just desserts for a guy who should have known better. Which is fair enough: It is rather nuanced for the world’s most famous athlete to suddenly affect shock that the media’s interested in him. But day after day of embarrassment, invasions of privacy, betrayals by intimate acquaintances, and relentless stress being put on the whole extended family — Mrs. Woods included — makes me queasy, like watching a boxer who’s out on his feet get pounded against the ropes. If he thinks throwing in the towel by ‘fessing up now is going to stop the fight, he’s kidding himself. He should have followed Ruth Marcus’s advice and taken a stand for privacy by clamming up and telling the press to mind its own business. If there are any just desserts to be administered, I’m sure his wife and a fleet of divorce lawyers can handle it. (Speaking of just desserts, what about hers?)
For your viewing pleasure, a re-creation of the accident from Chinese TV. It may be the only amusing thing to come out of this fiasco.

I have no interest in the details of their marriage or his tawdry, illicit, extra-marital sex life.
But I can’t help but notice that Elin is one gorgeous woman. Wow.

Yeah, and he blew his eagle with a couple of bogies.

Well I think I would know that better than most- had a cheater ex & he wasn’t rich.
I agree he’s fair game, but I also can see that people with that much $$, & hence that much power, tend to get into more trouble than the avg poor white trash bcs those guys are mostly too busy making ends meet.

Not that I care a whit about this story or have at any time since it came out, but if I did…
I withhold my judgement of Tiger, until which time as I know how his wife treats him.
In many cases (see THE PROPER CARE AND FEEDING OF HUSBANDS) men look outside the marriage for affection and and even simple attention they do not get in their marriages.
And frankly, it doesn’t matter how hot Elin is… If she’s nuts enough to chase and batter a car with a golfclub, then I’m not sure I believe she’s entirely innocent in the whole situation.
tickleddragon on December 2, 2009 at 5:27 PM
But let me add… I’m not defending him tho.
tickleddragon on December 2, 2009 at 5:28 PM
It’s always easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. I guess Tiger remembered that rule after he forgot the golden one.

Okay, I’m listening to that Bo Deedle guy talking about what Woods has done for the troops. All’s forgiven.
Blake on December 2, 2009 at 5:42 PM
Nothing wrong with getting so angry as to break an object. Her husband was driving away to meet some bimbo so she ran out and hit the car. So what? They can afford it. It certainly got his attention.
Blake on December 2, 2009 at 5:43 PM
Winner!!!
Sexual immorality Is a SELFISH sin. You are not entitled to have sex with anyone you can. You make a covenant with your spouse and its a tough road. SEXUAL SIN is all about ME!! I hope his daughter doesn’t marry a man like him.
Lisa on December 2, 2009 at 5:55 PM
Are you saying that his infidelity is somehow her fault? Her behavior (or lack thereof) somehow pushed him to make a really bad choice?
If she does not give him enough attention and/or affection, there is a simple way to resolve the issue, it is called communication.

Not a big deal, but this clip comes from Taiwan’s “Apple Action News”, not China. Let’s not encourage anyone to think that Taiwan is part of China.

As much as I think Tiger Woods is a skanky pig, I can’t help but raise an eyebrow at all the sympathy his “poor wife” is getting. I have to think there’s a level of acceptance from a lot of celebrity wives- who’s to say she wasn’t happy having the name and the money, and just didn’t appreciate him getting publicly caught? It’s similiar to when I hear people say they didn’t know their spouse was an alcoholic, or a drug abuser. How do you NOT know that?
I also think it’s wierd that the “other women” are taking so much heat- THEY WEREN’T MARRIED! They were’t famous celebrities who ought to know better. They didn’t have a “brand” to protect. Tiger (whatta dumb name, anyway) deserves to go down for this. I hope his wife takes his kids and his money.
anniekc on December 2, 2009 at 6:33 PM
But civilized society relies on people respecting the commitments and relationships of others. Women who help undermine a man’s marriage vows should be scorned, as should the man who breaks the vows. We create the world we live in–is this really what we want?
DrMagnolias on December 2, 2009 at 6:39 PM
Mark Levin brought up a great point: It’s not a matter of problems with the marriage so much in that he is screwing a whole lot of women and he’s been doing it from early on in the marriage. If the marriage isn’t working out – get a divorce or separate. I don’t think it’s right to lie to your spouse so you can have your cake and eat it, too.
Unfortunately, it seems like when the father screws around, so does the daughter. Example: Pick a Kennedy.
Blake on December 2, 2009 at 6:41 PM
anniekc on December 2, 2009 at 6:33 PM
Huh? I’ll tell you what says she wasn’t happy… a golf club to the back window of his vehicle.
Who cares if the ‘other women’ weren’t married? They KNEW HE WAS.
bridgetown on December 2, 2009 at 6:42 PM
Yes. Imagine that. Like ADULTS do.
bridgetown on December 2, 2009 at 6:43 PM
I will never look at or think of Tiger Woods with any admiration. He is a horndog and a cheat. The women involved are just as disgusting. He victimized his wife and 2 children.
I saw the police map of the “accident” and this guy had 3 collisions. This was not an oops backing out of the driveway at all.I was shocked. Also, I do believe it is possible that he hit his head on the wheel or windshield and that his wife was, in fact, trying to get him out of the car, especially if there was a loss of consciousness.
The pictures of the car are quite telling. Still cannot square those pics with an absent airbag…(radaronline)
Buckeye Babe on December 2, 2009 at 6:43 PM
So it’s not really Tigers fault they slept with him?
anniekc on December 2, 2009 at 6:47 PM
That is a false choice–”it’s either their fault, or his.” They are all 100% responsible.
DrMagnolias on December 2, 2009 at 6:51 PM
I’ll second that !!!Don’t give no Chicoms a leg up even though we are all in hock to them for the rest of our days .
Mattmax on December 2, 2009 at 6:53 PM
Lets remember he wasn’t just sleeping around he was having relationships with this other women. Its one thing to just have a few one night stands but to have a full affair is completely different. I’m sure plenty of whores through themselves at Tiger and it would be one thing (Not okay) if he just had sex with them, but carrying on a relationship and making phone calls and texting them behind your wifes back is completely different.
lavell12 on December 2, 2009 at 7:02 PM
Thanks for the link. That is pretty erratic driving. I think he was going at a unsafe speed, lost control of the car, and over corrected and lost even more of the car.
I thought only the rear window was smashed – not both side rear windows. Looking at the diagram and the damage on the front passenger side of the car, I don’t believe the wife needed to break the windows to get him out. I don’t believe he lost consciousness. There is no reason why s/he couldn’t open the driver’s door.
My new theory is that she smashed one window while he was getting into the car, and smashed the second before he could drive off. This is why he was driving so erratically – he was angry.
Blake on December 2, 2009 at 7:10 PM
Oh, and his three bimbos they have posted photos of are not all that attractive.

PappyD61 on December 2, 2009 at 10:16 PM
Maybe…………Oprah will ask Elin if one of the sluts is welcome at their house at Christmas like she had the guts to ask Palin about Levi.
It’s ridiculous for Tiger who has fed the beast of celebrity and public product endorsements now to want to say the public doesn’t have the right to know about his lifestyle.
Excuse me but didn’t they publish fawning pictures of him holding his daughter as a newborn to create/enforce the selling of him as a family man and father?
And now, we as consumers want to know if we deserve a refund, that’s it plain and simple.
Is Tiger who he’s been portrayed (by his people) to be?

Nope. I saw him play at Oakmont and he is “poetry in movement.” Don’t kid on me please! It is a Puerto Rican expression meaning how ppl conduct themselves, including dancing.
He has one enviable posture, of course we “chased” him for two days (before Elin popped up first kiddo). He left by chopper to hospital I guess. Dunno maybe I was starstruck, “one of those things to do before I die” thing, but to see him in action was awesome.

THE TIMING IS SUSPICIOUS
I am as much a conspiracy theorist as anyone else, especially when it comes to George Soros and the shadow party causing the financial meltdown at the end of Deptember 2008 during the campaign, but I don’t think even Soros’ fingers extend to mental telepathy and causing Elin Woods to have it out with Tiger in an impromptu fashion over his paramours and that he would know Tiger allegedly would flee his house at 2:30 AM, get in his vehicle and almost instantly run over a fire hydrant and into a tree.
As much I would like to blame Soros or Obama for creating the Tiger Woods media circus, in all honesty and using my God-given brain I cannot.
technopeasant on December 3, 2009 at 8:19 AM
Just to update a previous post of mine: Mrs. Tiger’s prenup isn’t between $50-100 million dollars, which was a guess on my part. It’s $300 million dollars. Glad I could clear that up…
joejm65 on December 3, 2009 at 8:28 AM
I think the real question here is as follows. I’m not wanting to sound in any way sexist here, but, with a wife as drop-dead gorgeous as Elin Nordegren, how the bleep does Tiger feel the need to run around? She’s about as pretty as pretty gets, at least a 14 on a scale of 1-10. What more could an alpha male need? Also, what alpha or beta male need does she not meet? Aside from the rumors of domestic violence leading to the accident, everything I’ve heard about her speaks about what a wonderful wife and mom she’s been.
I think Tiger’s been such a cad, he’s going to need a second caddie for a while just to carry his bruised ego.
flutejpl on December 3, 2009 at 8:44 AM
Tiger Woods is not a politician.
His private life is none of our business. It’s between him and his wife. He loves his kids. He loves America. His private life is his own concern.
maverick muse on December 3, 2009 at 8:55 AM

Tiger Woods has a stellar career in golf.

No compassion here. In fact, I’d trade my meager net worth and lack of hounding from the media for his billions (ok, hundreds of millions) and deeply disturbing violations of privacy. In a heartbeat.
misterpeasea on December 3, 2009 at 9:32 AM
I think Elin will be the one who has it all. A large fortune from the settlement, great kids, mansions, and no unfaithful husband around to have to deal with.
That which is whispered in secret will be shouted from the roof tops.
Mojave Mark on December 3, 2009 at 9:36 AM
No doubt this has been said many times, many ways, but it must drive black women crazy to see rich black celebrities marry white blonde women. O.J. comes to mind, of course. There are plenty of beautiful black women around; why do these rich black guys overlook them?
I’m trying to think of female black celebrities who have married white men; Lena Horne, right? Who else?
KyMouse on December 3, 2009 at 9:39 AM
He has a very strange way of showing it. A man who loves his kids should at the very least respect their mother, and not let his ego and libido destroy his kid’s family. I’d say it looks like he loves himself far more than his children. I hope this is a wake up call for him, though I find it hard to believe that in this day and age of bailing on one’s marriage, (and I could hardly blame his wife for doing so after all this) the marriage will survive. I hope I’m wrong, but it doesn’t look good and now the kids he supposedly loves will likely be just more kids suffering from a broken family. All so Tiger could get his selfish jollies and live up to his stupid nickname. What a shame.
And I don’t completely agree that it is none of our business. The moral decline of our society is made up of the moral decline of every member. Factor in the influence of one as prominent as Woods, and all the ‘celebrity’ types who think the world revolves around them and they can do whatever they want. It is sickening.

Knowing her background and his, I can say that when I first heard about her on the tour I bet on this happening. It is all about upbringing and motive. As I say in my link, “Remember, what was the motive in the first place. What is the better bet, that Tiger Woods was looking for a Swedish model on the PGA, or was a model looking for a rich golfer.”
Just because she is pretty doesn’t mean she was nice or giving. The world is filled with examples of women who are beautiful and cold.
