More Angelina Jolie: Obama will be a one-term president

posted at 5:36 pm on December 2, 2009 by Allahpundit

Or so sources say, although this report does jibe conspicuously with the details of that blogospheric catnip Us Weekly tossed out last week.

Remember that dream I had about debating social security with an Orion girl? This is better:

“[Jolie thinks] President Obama is a great communicator but not interested in issues outside the United States,” says a Hollywood insider close to the Oscar-winning actress. “Angelina has worked very hard to get first-person accounts of what is going on in the world with her briefings from the UN, [while] Brad is a ‘Johnny Come Lately.’”

Jolie even thinks Obama will only last four years in the nation’s highest office, says the insider, because of “a subtle arrogance in his delivery, [and] not living up to his promises.”…

“Angelina is far left in some beliefs, but then she sees many sides from the right [hand point of view],” says the pal. “She believes in hard work and teaching people how to make their lives better. She also believes in lifting people in need up with support through food, money and education so they can succeed.”

Supposedly she’s taking a wait-and-see approach to The One, which is hard to believe if she’s going around calling him a one-termer. Note to Jon Voight: Much work remains to be done. Exit question: Isn’t it a tad hypocritical of us to care even remotely what some actress thinks about politics when we routinely dump on Hollywood types as irrelevant? Or is it all good because it’s Angelina Jolie? Ah well. It’s nice to have at least some representation among the ranks of A-list celebrities. Aside from Sarahcuda, of course.

I don’t dump on them as irrelevant. I dump on them as ignorant. This one, though, sounds like she’s been paying attention.

Jim Treacher on December 2, 2009 at 5:57 PM

I swear to God Treach reads my mind.

That’s exactly right. I can’t knock them for being “irrelevant” because in a very real, albeit sad way, they’re not. I knock them for being ignorant…or stupid…or just plain good ‘ol fashioned wrong.

What I’d say to AJ…”if you’ve come this far, maybe you’re willing to come a little further.”

Hope…is a good thing.

Uh, shouldn’t you be asking yourself that question? YOU are the one posting what Jolie says.

…and we should care what Angelina Jolie thinks, why?

tballard on December 2, 2009 at 6:34 PM

Her a-list days are numbered. She won’t be invited to the right parties anymore. …and no, I don’t care.

ElectricPhase on December 2, 2009 at 6:39 PM

Man, my brain is fried. Pretend those are italics rather than quotes on my last post.

Bob's Kid on December 2, 2009 at 6:41 PM

Yes, we care. An actor who says this:

“a subtle arrogance in his delivery”

is worth listening to. She says it so well, I’d even say trenchantly.

(I was going to say the she says it so beautifully, but then some may have mis-interpreted my meaning :)

The dumping is usually done in the context of that particular Hollywood type’s arrogance in believing we give a rat’s and calling us common folks idiots when we don’t agree with them. Jolie doesn’t appear to be taking that route.

outOfElement on December 2, 2009 at 7:00 PM

don’t care about the Hollyweird bunch when they say things i disagree with & i don’t care about the Hollyweird bunch when they say things i like. although it makes me happy to see her & brad give so much to charity.

poppieseeds on December 2, 2009 at 7:03 PM

And of course, yes, we care. It is a man bites dog story.

(plus a pretty picture to look at)

I do not care what Angelina Jolie thinks about President Obama or much of anything else.

I’d say it would be hypocritical if we based any of our own ideas on them. But being glad that someone famous is on our side isn’t even connected.

I don’t care that celebrities are Leftists. I only care when they presume to lecture us as though their celebrity status has given them some insight that no one else has ever had.

Esthier on December 2, 2009 at 7:28 PM

Angelina will campaign for Sarah.

Sarah will win.

A year later, no one will remember the idiot-in-chief except as proof that a country can actually have a nervous breakdown and recover.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmebbe Mel Gibson winked at her?

In any case MsJolie is dead on target.

I don’t think we should “care” in terms of getting excited or gloating, but it’s certainly interesting that even known Hollywood lefties can begin to see what a turd The One is.

RightWinged on December 2, 2009 at 7:36 PM

Anything to get a pretty girl next to our conservative principles.

astonerii on December 2, 2009 at 7:48 PM

I here that Adam Baldwin(no relation to the Alec) from the NBC show “Chuck” is a conservative and not a big Obama fan.

IT IS GOOD NEWS SINCE IT MEANS THE FIRST CRACKS IN OBAMA-HOLLYWOOD ALIANCE ARE SHOWING

AND REMEMBER: LOTS OF HOLLYWOOD FIGURES ARE SUPER-LIB AND/OR NAIVE-IGNORANT ON THE OUTSIDE BUT CLOSET CONSERVATIVES ON THE INSIDE (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A VERY FEW THAT DID NOT HAVE TO WORK HARD TO BECOME A CELEBRITY STAR)

mooseburger on December 2, 2009 at 8:31 PM

I think you like commenting om Angelina’s comments so you can post her picture. :)

Mutnodjmet on December 2, 2009 at 8:41 PM

mooseburger is right. This is significant because lots of actors/actresses respect Jolie, and because many are lemmings who now have cover to start turning on Teh One.

John the Libertarian on December 2, 2009 at 8:46 PM

As Ace would say, “I’ll be in my bunk.”

I don’t like to fall for those obvious Hollywood beauties, but there’s no way around it: Jolie is so f****** hot!

DrZin on December 2, 2009 at 9:28 PM

Isn’t it a tad hypocritical of us to care even remotely what some actress thinks about politics when we routinely dump on Hollywood types as irrelevant?

No it’s not and it would in fact be blind prejudice if we dumped on all ‘Hollywood types’ just because they’re Hollywood types, wouldn’t it?! We’re just happy to find yet another (and as you know there’s more than just Angelina) who’s not in liberal lala-land.

Aylios on December 2, 2009 at 9:51 PM

Maybe she’s been hanging out with Michael Moriarity (who is the awesome new columnist over at Breitbart…Hello Big Hollywood…)

ornery_independent on December 2, 2009 at 10:09 PM

She’s definitely a smart slut about something.

No wonder her and Brad are having problems.

PappyD61 on December 2, 2009 at 10:14 PM

Yes, if Angelina says it,its all good. She even changed my opinion of Brad Pitt.

DDT on December 2, 2009 at 10:16 PM

Sarahcuda an A-list? I disagree, clearly she’s an S-list.

I’m sorry, but in the spirit of All that is Unholy about the Mad Jim Treacher:

I have first dibs on the Sarah Palin/Angelina Jolie pillow fight.

victor82 on December 2, 2009 at 10:28 PM

Well, she has been to Africa several times, and has seen devastation, hunger and womens’ rights stomped on. I guess because of his obscure origins, and add to that his staying away as far as Africa can go-maybe she’s got some goods on him. For Obama it’d be like the movie “Coming To America”, but back asswards.

Of course that’s just me fantasizing. We all know foreigners in small cities like to brag on their own, don’t we? ;D

Why, yes. Yes it is. But look at it this way: She’s hot.

Conservatism is like prostate cancer or knee surgery. If you are lucky enough to live a long life, at a certain age, these things happen to everyone. Why fight it?

Anyway, I don’t care what celebutards say, especially her. I get a psycho vibe from her.

HellCat on December 2, 2009 at 11:46 PM

“a subtle arrogance in his delivery”

O-oh. To the left, where it concerns Obama: arrogance=uppity=racist! This has the makings of a very special Keith Olbermann special comment.

Sean68 on December 3, 2009 at 12:18 AM

Like many people I bet her “Lefty beliefs” are the same as righty ones. Too many people think Helping the poor and down trodden are leftist ideals, but the fall more in the realm of people on the right.

Angelina Jolie has people around the world who respect her opinion, whether that’s right or wrong. The fact that she sees this clown with the smoke and mirrors he uses and says so is pretty big, and might wake up the country, even if just a small extant.

And the above poster who said she needs bigger hips, psssh. I dig skinny chicks with implants………..She’s just right to me…..

Exit question: Isn’t it a tad hypocritical of us to care even remotely what some actress thinks about politics when we routinely dump on Hollywood types as irrelevant? Or is it all good because it’s Angelina Jolie?

Like Audrey Hepburn before, Angelina puts her money where her mouth is. Her viewpoint is genuine because she takes her causes seriously and makes personal sacrifices to support them.

Sean Penn glad-handing Hugo Chavez is not personal sacrifice: it is self-promotion. Madonna making a circus of adopting an African child is not charity: it is self-promotion (worse that she’s using the child to justify the ends.)

the_souse on December 3, 2009 at 8:57 AM

There are celebrities that are not totally stupid. I read through these last year, don’t know how accurate it is.

Jolie is a head case nut job. She just happens to be a horny good looking one.

I remember some of hewr anticks from the past, and she is definately a kook.

saiga on December 3, 2009 at 12:43 PM

It’s newsworthy for one reason: she’s not afraid to say something that might be construed as right wing even though she’s at risk of putting her career on ice. Hollywood is not kind to those who don’t stay in lockstep.

PoodleSkirt on December 3, 2009 at 12:49 PM

Angelina Jolie has done a great deal of humanitarian work, while she leaves her politics out of the picture. She works with the UN and with political leaders to try and effect positive change with tangible results. She is, in that respect, a model citizen who also happens to be a celebrity. Compared to the usual Hollywood suspects, she is someone worth listening to, because she is far from a hypocrite. What does Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin or Susan Sarandon contribute? Complaints.

alliebobbitt on December 3, 2009 at 1:44 PM

Not hypocritical. Celebs on the left have their “causes celeb” to which they contribute a little and talk about a lot, and their lefty politics that they mostly do not even understand (because it is mostly incoherent), but AJ’s ideas for relieving some of the need in the world have been informed by her “in the field” work.

People who know what she cares about will care what she thinks. People who think she’s a home wrecking bimbo will not.
