More Angelina Jolie: Obama will be a one-term president
posted at 5:36 pm on December 2, 2009 by Allahpundit
Or so sources say, although this report does jibe conspicuously with the details of that blogospheric catnip Us Weekly tossed out last week.
Remember that dream I had about debating social security with an Orion girl? This is better:
“[Jolie thinks] President Obama is a great communicator but not interested in issues outside the United States,” says a Hollywood insider close to the Oscar-winning actress. “Angelina has worked very hard to get first-person accounts of what is going on in the world with her briefings from the UN, [while] Brad is a ‘Johnny Come Lately.’”
Jolie even thinks Obama will only last four years in the nation’s highest office, says the insider, because of “a subtle arrogance in his delivery, [and] not living up to his promises.”…
“Angelina is far left in some beliefs, but then she sees many sides from the right [hand point of view],” says the pal. “She believes in hard work and teaching people how to make their lives better. She also believes in lifting people in need up with support through food, money and education so they can succeed.”
Supposedly she’s taking a wait-and-see approach to The One, which is hard to believe if she’s going around calling him a one-termer. Note to Jon Voight: Much work remains to be done. Exit question: Isn’t it a tad hypocritical of us to care even remotely what some actress thinks about politics when we routinely dump on Hollywood types as irrelevant? Or is it all good because it’s Angelina Jolie? Ah well. It’s nice to have at least some representation among the ranks of A-list celebrities. Aside from Sarahcuda, of course.

Think AP should offer Angie a guest blogging gig here at HA. Have her alternate with Doc Zero.

She’s only a tad liberal.

Not if we only care a tad about the politics of A-list celebrities.

Odd, I normally could care less what celebs think, either. I don’t even think she’s that great an actress. But this makes me giggle.

I don’t care what Hollywood dorks think.

An interesting thing that I read recently is that she’s reconciled with her father, John Voight–who is heavy Republican.
Wonder if he’s rubbing off on her (and not in the Mackenzie Phillips way).

I was thinking of a debate, but yeah…..ok, that works too.
Dongemaharu on December 2, 2009 at 5:43 PM
Allah is downright manly here! Fantastical manly.
Seriously, Ms. Jolie is part of the celebrity establishment that cannot be ignored (ulike her dad). Jon Stewart, too. The uniform devotion of ‘service’ to the Hope-Change Blank Screen is fading. Many folks (including those of left-leaning ilk) are forming their second, more ‘nuanced’, opinon. I don’t see this ending well for the President.

Probably too much to ask for a debate between Jolie and Sarah, in bikinis, over global warming…or maybe a little energy debate with oil…

Its like hearing Jon Stewart report on climategate. Sure, he probably still believes the sky is falling, but he reported the controversy. That is more than what you would expect so you’re pleasantly surprised.
El_Terrible on December 2, 2009 at 5:45 PM
If it is true, she is simply an exception to the rule, and that makes it mildly interesting. Her opinion is still no more relevant than any other opinion is.

Palin/Jolie 2012!!!

Two things, the knowledge is only interesting because of it’s rarity and if she says much more she will no longer be an “A-list celebrity”.
Cindy Munford on December 2, 2009 at 5:46 PM
Like the latter belief is not a conservative one. Statists want to extract money by the force of government to service these needs. Conservatives want to do it on a voluntary basis.

SDarchitect on December 2, 2009 at 5:47 PM
It’s a tad hypocritical. But on the otherhand, she’s Angelina Jolie.
darii on December 2, 2009 at 5:48 PM
If the claim being made was that Angelina Jolie’s opinion of Obama was somehow more significant than Joe Blow’s opinion of Obama, that would be hypocritical.
I think we’re in the clear though. The reason we seem to like this news (unsourced though it may be) is that it makes us feel as if Hollywood is a little less crazy than we had been led to believe. Who would have thought it would be Angelina Jolie that made Hollywood seem sane?

upinak on December 2, 2009 at 5:52 PM
The thing that makes her more relevant is that she’s actually been to third world countries and has seen the hopelessness first hand. She is an ambassador to the UN. It’s not like you’re quoting Pamela Anderson here, Angelina knows the issues. As for her husband, he’s done quite a bit of humanitarian work in New Orleans, so it’s not like they’re your typical run of the mill celebs.

She’s probably libertarian on most social issues and conservative when it comes to fiscal and military items.
That’s how many of us are. We don’t care what people do in their bedrooms but if you try to pass a LAW saying that we all support it, we balk at that.

Jolie thinks Obama isn’t interested in issues outside the U.S.
Oh, I don’t know. Sometimes I think he’s interested in issues ONLY outside the U.S., like which countries find him adorable, which countries have relatives of his he shuns, which countries have awarded him undeserved medals, etc.
I get the feeling tomorrow’s job summit will begin with Barry saying, “So, how am I doing my job? I’m awesome, aren’t I?”

Needless to say, I am a big fan and patronize every movie he appears in. But, I’m screwed if he ever makes one with Sean Penn.

This is the same girl who hooked up with goofy hillbilly Billy Bob thornton I would pick Megs over this botox lipped freak any day.
And so would you.
kangjie on December 2, 2009 at 6:21 PM
Maybe it is kinda hypocritical. I think we all agree that people shouldn’t get their political views from their favorite Hollywood A-lister, who basically lives on another planet than everyone else anyway. But the reality is that there are many that do listen to them.
So if we can pry away a few stars that give an alternative viewpoint to these minds of mush, then maybe a few of these simpletons heads will start exploding. Maybe thye’ll be forced to think a little bit. Perhaps a few more of them will decide not to head to the polls. Heck, maybe a few will sign up with the good guys.
It’s definitely not the way it should be, but it is the way it is. At least Angelina steps out of her comfortable life and walks the walk. She’s done some admirable things with her time and fortune.

Angelina is a beautiful woman who seems to put her money where her mouth is when it comes to important issues. Whether that makes her more relevant than other hollywood types is certainly debatable, but as Treacher said, at least she’s not either stupid or ignorant. That is itself is worth at least a mention.
I don’t expect to agree with

Bob's Kid on December 2, 2009 at 6:29 PM
One thing about Angelina that sets her apart from the ‘Hollywood’ crowd.
She gets down in the trenches with the poorest of the poor and works to make a difference.
You don’t go to places like that without Learning that hard work makes a difference. She must be learning that government handouts are a joke and to empower people, you need more than that.
Good on her.
bridgetown on December 2, 2009 at 6:29 PM
Don’t believe any of it people, it’s really a stretch…
My sister knows a few docs who are working on the Doctors Without Borders doc with Jolie – all European – and unlike all of you – they actually have gotten to know her and have had political discussions with her.
She voted for The One and believes in what he is doing, because the docs – being European believe The One is a socialist, pure and simple.
She does not share their opinions.
Nor is it true she is in deep discussion with her father…
Again – US Magazine started this and Fox picked up on it. I know of the 2 sisters who write some of the crap, their mother is a prominent Real Estate Broker here in Manhattan and they work for US.
They used to originate all of the negative crap about Britney and Lynn Spears, and then Britney really did go off the rails. I’m sure some of this originated from them.
Again US is notorious for stretching the truth, Fox picks up on it for wishful thinking and to drive the discussion.
It’s pure mishigas….
