Moore, visiting Japan this week to promote his latest documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story,” told reporters that he had sent Obama a message from his father, a World War II veteran.

“I passed on to him a personal request from my father and his Japanese friend: ‘Mr. Obama, you do not know war. We both know war and want it no more’,” he told reporters.

Moore’s Dad knows war, as he was there. Mikey claiming he “knows” war is like Bill Clinton claiming he knows about marital fidelity.

Moore repeatedly praised the traditional values of Japan, but he criticised Tokyo for supporting Bush’s policies, including by sending non-combat troops to Iraq and adopting pro-market economic policies.

Asked to offer a message to the Japanese public, Moore urged them to return to a “society of peace and respect.”

“As much as I like America, quit being like us. Be Japan,” he said.

Translation: “I Hate America”.

Moore, visiting Japan for the first time, came to the press conference in a casual coat over a black sweat shirt and sweat pants, looking decidedly casual.

“The airline lost my luggage,” he said, adding that one of his first stops in Tokyo was a clothing store popular with sumo wrestlers.

“Where are they going to find a store in Japan with clothes that fit me? I am partly in my pyjamas and partly in sumo attire,” he said.

Epic FAIL.

“If the Taliban thinks they can wait us out, then they are misjudging the president’s approach.”

They would never do that, would they? Like when we demanded that they turn over Osama or we would go to war, they moved really quickly to hand him over, right?

Then again, I guess the Taliban wouldn’t actually be misjudging the president’s approach if they concluded that he wanted to cut and run.

Same as what I am thinking- I didn’t say his plan made sense but if he wants to give a timetable for 2011 to pacify his far left base, this is what I see happening.

And it would be a wth moment if we leave equipment behind for the Taliban or Al-Q to get their hands on, and if we disable it and leave it the Afghanis and the environmentalists will harp about it. Forever.

Like I’ve said here before, Obama is too much of a coward to hold to his supposed convictions and pull all the troops out of the Middle East. He’s surrounded by neocons JOOS and has likely become one himself.

good military leaders take some training & seasoning to mold. Do you really think we can train the Afghan army to handle the Taliban & AQ in the space of 3 years?

I am not in the military so maybe I don’t know if we can get an Army up to speed to combat radical Islam in a mere 3 years.

Because networks Nov. sweeps ended last week and he would command a wider audience for his speech tonight.

I am wondering if Obama is thinking that he can use the war to get some bipartisan support on something, so that he does not look so divisive, which he is.

I also think that maybe he is wondering if he really wants to be the President who loses Afghanistan. That does not mean he won’t ultimately bale out on the mission. I think it depends on the politics of the issue.

Is that void the allied presence in Afghanistan or the void between teh President’s ears?

I can only assume The One favors a timetable because he thinks it’s a good idea on the merits, politics be damned.

Given what you know about him, why on earth would you think that? His base wants us out ASAP. If he doesn’t have the political stones to give that to them right away, a timeline is the next best thing.

It’s totally political.
