Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?

posted at 9:00 am on November 29, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Well, it’s Thanksgiving weekend, so let’s give thanks to the turkeys that appeared this week.  I feel particularly honored to have spotted a non-first first.  I spend every waking hour while I’m looking for Obamateurisms, er, looking for Obamateurisms, after all.   They’re slightly less exact of a science than jobs accounting, and a heck of a lot more fun.

Previous “winners”:

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

How ironic (or perhaps not) that the man bows like an indentured servant trying too hard to impress with faux humility, while what’s really in his mind is, “You should be honored to be anywhere in range of my august and unprecedented aura.”

President Bush knew it wasn’t all about him, and he put America (us) first, before himself, even being willing to be mocked and vilified if it would protect us physically and protect America’s standing in the world. I miss him more every day.

there is little article this a.m. at Tertium Quids blog about how Gov elect McDonnell of Va may cut taxes to make Virginia more attractive to businesses & as a result, increase jobs.

McDonnell, bless his heart, must be an idiot. Because we know that if cutting taxes could stimulate the economy & create jobs, Obama would have done so.

Because of “every waking moment”…. (sounds like something from Sound of Music

Sarkozy, however, criticized Obama’s decision to turn up for just one day at the beginning of the negotiations, on December 9, instead of the crucial final days of summit when all the other leaders would be crunching figures and concessions.

For obvious reasons, I’m just as happy he’ll be making his Nobel speech instead of hanging around making more concessions and apologies. Hope he takes the weekend off for golf and shooting hoops with the guys as well.

Missing the first national day of Thanksgiving by 74 years

The real eff up here was not missing the date by 74 years, it was in crediting the first official Thanksgiving Day to Lincoln’s proclamation, and not to George Washington’s.

Of course, Obama sees himself as Lincoln 2.0, and probably believes the history of the USA begins there.

TXUS on November 29, 2009 at 10:04 AM

Has to be missing Thanksgiving by 74 years, and ascribing its creation to the wrong President. It’s America’s only unique, exclusive holiday, and our own President can’t get it right.

He has all of that staff and his czars to do the dirty work for him and he is the front man trying to “sell” socialism to the rest of us. Very dangerous for him and us.

BetseyRoss on November 29, 2009 at 10:12 AM

Obama might believe he’s the second coming of Abraham Lincoln, but he’s wrong: Lincoln was taller, smarter, whiter, wrote his own speeches, and governed WITHOUT a teleprompter.

Obama is nothing other than our first affirmative action president. Might be the last too, as his incompetence and cluelessness become more evident to the world by the day. Next time, America should require a RESUME along with teleprompter ability.

The Indian guy should feel lucky to have attended a State Dinner where a couple of clowns evaded security and gate crashed to get a photo op of themselves with every digintary in the place even the lecherous Joe O’Biden.
That Indian guy is lucky cause he might be the only foreign head of state willing to risk his life attending a poorly screened Whitehouse Dinner full of pompous ass morons who think they are all better than those who make this country work.
Better security at an Iraqi State dinner I bet, unless those two Palestinian supporting clowns were waved through for being Friends Of Pinnochio! (FOP’s)

The India remark was particularly bad, emphasizing again ObaMao’s own tone deafness towards the dignity of a head of state and his continued self-absorption. Even the guest list for that first state dinner raises doubts about how seriously he takes his role as president. A shamwow event for his fanboys and girls in a circus tent doesn’t have the dignity one would expect.

President (W) Bush cultivated good relations with India during his tenure. Was this ObaMao’s attempt to prove yet again that he is not Bush?

He seems to intentionally ignore our founding and those who were involved in creating the sovereign country of the “United States of America” Where did he go to school, that he didn’t even learn the fundamentals of American History?

Dr Evil on November 29, 2009 at 11:35 AM

Good deal! There was a wider spread of votes over all the selections available than in previous polls. This proves that the Hot Air community is seeing even more amateurism from Mr. Obama than can be presented in one obvious event.

I would LOVE it if the “reality-star-wannabees” decision came from Obama himself as a result of overriding security procedures. Overriding internal controls by those in authority is an automatic presumption of failure of those internal controls.

Another Obamanism this week was the party crashers, the Salehis who evidently got through the fierce Obama security net at the WH. What has not been brought up, and was recently posted at gatewaypundit and at the American Power blog is that these gatecrashers were members (and may still be members of a radical anti Israel group, which recently had as its Vice President Rashid Khalidi, you know the radical arab pal of then Senator Obama in Chicago, So the question becomes did the radical palestinian, Salehi get the thumbs up from Secret Service because he tossed out his common contacts with the President-Khalidi and Ayers? Some of the other blogs’ posts here:

“American Power discovered this on the White House party crashers- They belong to a radical anti-Israeli group:

Tareq Salahi, the polo-playing intruder, is a Palestinian nationalist with ties to the American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) , a pro-Palestine lobby demanding the “right of return” for all Palestinian refugees and their descendants. The “right of return” has long been considered the backdoor to Israel’s destruction. But not only that: ATFP President Ziad Asali is an America-basher who blamed 9/11 on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. Asali was a lead U.S. official to PLO terrorist Yassir Arafat’s funeral in 2004. And in a position paper in 2007, the ATFP called for a power-sharing agreement at the Palestinian Authority, which would have included the State Department’s designated-terrorist group, HAMAS.

Canada Free Press has discovered that ATFP has sent down the memory hole any association with Salehi. Unfortunately for Salehi and ATFP, the google cache still contains this shocking information.

So again, this supposedly centrist White House Obama Administration cheerfully invites the most radical of anti western people to its state dinners and governance meetings.
But we mustn’t believe that Obama is some socialist radical because he can talk real well and looks good in front of a camera and TOTUS.
